This is heaven, My god Handel was gifted.
@mcallum754clopie46 жыл бұрын
shnimmuc But also Handel must be played by a gifted musician to sound heavenly; Albrecht Meyer is supremely talented in this respect. Try listening to other musicians who play the oboe - the sound that they produce is rarely as silken and honeyed as his.
@mcallum754clopie46 жыл бұрын
I do not know how this guy manages to produce such a beautiful sound from his oboe (D’Amore here or, - when he is playing the more usual oboe). It sounds like what I would imagine silk to sound like if it had a sound, Not an earthly sound, like the tearing of silk, no. This is other worldly- honeyed toned, glistening silk sound. So rare - but he has the gift of producing it. Yet for years I was wondering, “ Why all my friends talk about Albrecht Meyer?” Now, after studying the oboe a bit more, and listening to more of these hautbois people, yes, I get it. He is brilliant. And I will never be more than a dummy at the back of the class orchestra !

oboe is such a beautiful instrument when played well.. people who think it sounds like a dieing duck should hear this. its actually much more beautiful than violin
@calderwishne96884 жыл бұрын
Two things. Beginning oboists sound terrible largely because commercially-available reeds are wretched; even a professional would sound crappy on them. Yes, beginners also lack the embouchure to get the most out of any reed, but a good reed goes SUCH A long way on the oboe. Regarding the oboe's reputation as a horrible, nasal, duck of a woodwind, I blame Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf. For so many children, this is the first oboe they'll here, and it's a very poor representation of what the instrument is capable of. You may as well have the clarinet play nothing below high G. Kids would think all clarinets were screechy and piercing, not realizing how smooth, dark, and mellow the tessitura (can that term be applied to non-vocal instruments?) can be. The bassoon actually receives similar treatment. Grandfather is gruff and low, but sang with such a plaintive tenor in his younger days.
@ericoschmitt4 жыл бұрын
@@calderwishne9688 cool to remember this coment of mine! Almost a decade later and I still love the oboe. I've become a professional cellist, but someday I will still buy a good oboe and learn it.
