Another classic pick by Uncle Joey. Volume 4 was the second Sabbath album I heard after Paranoid. Wheels Of Confusion is epic. It blows me away that something as heavy and crushing as Under The Sun came out in 1972. Tremendous.

Crazy that Under the Sun was the heaviest song on the planet, uncontested, for close to a decade. I love listening to the song and trying to imagine what it would have been like to hear it for the first time in 72

Also Evildead's second album The Underworld is severely underrated. I know the term "underrated" is thrown around way too much these days, but in this case the term is deserved.

Vol.4 and Sabotage, my absolute favourite albums of all time, not just favourite Sabbath albums. From the opening of Wheels of Confusion to the final riff of Under the Sun. I’ve blown my brains out smoking weed more times than I care to remember listening to this! I’ve played this album to a lot of people who have liked it, soon as I tell them it’s Black Sabbath they don’t believe me as most people who don’t know music think that Sabbath are a completely different sounding band, to what they were expecting. An absolute masterpiece. As one other guy commented, it’s hard to believe people actually cane up with this!! 😂

You gotta check out The Obsessed’s cover of Tomorrow’s Dream. There’s also an American doom metal band called Saint Vitus that was considered one of the pioneers of the doom metal genre (Sabbath starting the style obviously).

sabbath was tremendous!!!! One of the best band that ever existed... this album, vol 4, its a piece of art, so heavy, so melodic... it is a compilation of the 3 first albuns but more cohesive, better recorded, better instrumental, more experimental... it is a master piece! happy new year stay SABBATH

l agree totally with yer review! l got into Sabbath in 1982. l'm a 1965 vintage kid. Used to do lots of 'cid & 'shooms back in the day and rock out to this album and others by Sabbath. Still love the 'shrooms. Dunno if l'd trust a blotter these days, eh? Much as l'd love to see the T.V. breathing like as if it just ran a marathon while l watching it again.

Yes! This album is a masterpiece!! But it took them more than 12 hours to record this album. Thls was when they were renting a house in L.A. doing tons of coke everyday, they almost fired Bill Ward on this album because he was having trouble laying beats on a couple tracks.

Went to record store after hearing the song Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, my introductory song, on the hunt for some Black Sabbath . This was the only album they had in at the time, and Thank the Metal Gods🤘!! It blew me away and I’ve never looked back!!

1st album was 12 hours paranoid took 2 weeks vol 4 was done in california between may threw june they rehearsed and stayed in John Du Ponts house that is also where geezer and Tony almost killed Bill. They spray painted him gold while he was passed out
