Novak's ranking is going to take a major tumble very soon. Last year he won all four tournaments he entered after Wimbledon, so he's defending a ton of points. He has no titles this year yet. The only thing keeping him afloat is a RU and SF at the slams. He's going to be out of the top 5 soon if he doesn't start winning some titles.
@andyc7011
@andyc7011 Ай бұрын
@@jm7804 The Djokovic fans all claimed that he doesn’t care about rankings and he only care about GS titles (read my comment). IMHO the loss in ranking is for certain and with similar certainty is the loss in his ability to win GS titles (Twelve months who would have thought he get trashed at a Wimbledon final). Making the Wimbledon final just highlighted how easy he got it in the bottom half of the draw and that won’t the case if he drops to 3).

Cam, humble suggestion. Add some fun, frivolous categories to your year-end awards. One suggestion is "Celebration of the Year", inspired entirely by Krejcikova. When she went into the stands and skipped down the aisle like a kid who just got a new bike, then tackled Jan Kodes, it was one of the sweetest, most hilarious things I've ever seen. I think she's the front-runner.

It is what it is. Carlos won zero tournaments after Wimbledon last year. Novak won 4 tournaments after Wimbledon last year...including the USO and tour final. Those points are huge. This problem will soon be corrected I suspect. Carlos will be number one and Novak will not even be in the top 5 anymore.

Alcaraz makes good results at GS and bad M1000 results. Add points, it's not that hard. Sinner is more regular. Although I prefer winning GS and making bad results in other tournaments, Sinner is the number 1

For me it's the injuries this year, like for example 2 top 10 getting injured while playing Fils. What a coincidence. And when was the last time 3 top 10 players retired with injuries in one tournament? Hurkacz, De Minaur, Dimitrov, and it nearly become 4 with Zverev injuring his knee, but he seems OK for now since he didn't withdraw from Hamburg. I think we may need an weekly injury update

Absolutely crazy to me that Svitolina drops 9 spots even though she made the Quarter, and had a good tourney, some problem with how points are allocated, maybe. Also crazy for Townsend to lose so much position despite winning doubles. She even dropped two spots in the doubles ranking lol. Weird that rankings have no real ties to winning.

@@erickent4248 she had a better Wimbledon last year when she made the SF. That is a loss of 350 points and can make a lot of difference after rank 20 (rank 20 is about 2,100 points whereas rank 50 is 1,100 points).

Always amazes me that even though Carlos defended his title he gets no points for doing so. Now, had Djokovic won the final Carlos would have lost 800 points. I think if you win a GS regardless if you won it the year before you should get 2000 bonus points for doing so. Just my thoughts...what do you think??? In any case, after US Open last year Alcaraz didn't collect many points so he should benefit from this and probably end the year ranked #1.

For me a big take away from Wimbledon was Krejcikova winning Wimbledon despite narrowly winning 7-6, 6-7, 7-5 in her first round match against Veronika Kudermatova. She was almost out of the tournament in round one, but she persevered and went on to win the whole thing. Had she lost that match, would Kudermatova then gone on to win the tourney instead? I doubt it, but I wonder about those kind of things.

The women tournament was a pure random event. The top seeds (Gauff, Zheng and Sakkari) in the easier bottom half of the draw did as badly as their counterparts in the difficult top half of the draw. It now looks like no. 6-15 in the women ranking will be a random draw (outside the top 5 nobody got the consistency to maintain their ranking). It was a surprise that Djokovic played but it was also a surprise at how Alcaraz destroyed him in the final. Sadly for the Djokovic fans it is impossible for Djokovic to return to No. 1 this year as he needs to defend his titles won in the second half of last year just to maintain his points (let alone gain on Sinner).

Well, let's see what happens next, so far Djokovic is in his worst season on record , with zero titles and zero top 10 wins. If you remember that most fans and his wife did not want Novak to play on potentially slippery grass, maybe reaching his 10 th.
