Thanks for a great tutorial. It might be worth adding a comment about the 1 gold rule when selling a potion. [TLDR; the key thing is that the final price combining the three variables (discount, guarantee and tracker gold modifier) must be at least 1 gold, and it's the guarantee that is set last just before you attempt to make your potion. This is all on page 12 of the rule book.] When choosing your discount bid card, you have to consider the final price at which you want to sell your potion because it will be a combination of three things: your discount (0, -1, -2 or -3), the price next to the guarantee you intend to give, and any gold bonus/penalty on the reputation tracker. Most importantly, before attempting to make your potion, you cannot combine these three things into a final price such that you would sell for less than 1 gold. This final price is set when you choose a guarantee level and is done just before you attempt to make the potion, which adds a nice push-your-luck element if you're not sure if you can make a given potion from the ingredients you have. You cannot go back and change your discount since this was locked in to determine turn order for selling potions. You might have discounted more to ensure you even get to make a potion, and/or to make the potion of your choosing, but a larger discount adds risk because it removes some of the lower quality guarantee options because you must sell for at least 1 gold. You will have more options the higher the zone your reputation flask sits in on the tracker. In the red zone, where your reputation is in the gutter, the -1 gold is a penalty that will be applied to your 4 prices, but it's not a discount and so doesn't affect your smiley faces (and yet you have to take this -1 gold into account when deciding on your discount). This penalty means your prices have effectively gone from [4, 3, 2, 1] to [3, 2, 1, 0], so you either have to now offer a higher guarantee for a given price or you have to charge less for a given guarantee. You cannot offer the -3 discount from the red zone since, even with the highest guarantee (which is now priced at 3 gold for you rather than 4 gold), you could only sell for a maximum of 0 gold which is not allowed. If you want to offer the -2 guarantee from in the red zone, you have to offer the highest guarantee (at 3 gold) just to make your minimum required 1 gold. If you want to earn more gold, you have to offer a less generous discount when playing your bid card, but that of course means you're at risk of not getting to make a potion of your choice, or any potion at all if your cubes go to the bottom of the player order. In the blue zone, where you're practically a celebrity, that +1 gold bonus gives you effective prices of [5, 4, 3, 2] and so lets you offer a lower guarantee for a given price (handy if you're less certain about how to make your potion and need to take a chance with the ingredients you have) or lets you earn more gold for the same given guarantee.
