Alcohol burns are no joke. May only be a sec, but it gets hot real dang quick. There’s a reason funny car drivers wear thicker fire suits than most motorsports- they run alcohol/methanol burn hot, clear.

the ATF findings out the other distiller that's got a license was selling the barrel and or supplies/support yeah right all of themselves would be in jail and or at least IRS and license suspended only way to getting that is playing dumb or make your own equipment as it's not likely to be a honest open conversation etc

They literally used a (used) barrel so the infused alcohol in the wood is just setting it up for explosion like as such that happend, the small blast would not happen due to sawdust.

They likely got most of it out after they poured the rest of the whisky out. The second cut couldn't have possibly created at amount of sawdust for that kind of blow back.

Here in the US it isn't illegal to own a distiller, we can get them on Amazon even. It's only illegal to make beverage alcohol. You can however make it as fuel.

I'm not a moonshiner but I play one on TV.

it wouldn't have been too bad if the barrel was full of liquid. its when there vapours that reach the stoichiometric point, where there's the exact right mix of oxygen and fuel vapour, one spark and boom. the only thing worse than what they did here would be if this happened when the barrel was about 10% full, and the vapour exploded, sends the rest of the alcohol everywhere, vaporises most of that in the explosion, and then that ignites so you end up with a two stage explosion. its why refuelling an airplane is the most dangerous time, when its full its less likely to go up, but when its running close the empty, the tank is full of vapour and they bring that metal hose up to the tank, they have to make sure the pipes are all earthed otherwise one static spark the moment the hose touches the tank, and boom.
