Me thinks his claims about "male child, high intelligence and innocence is best to sacrifice", and fact that he did say he performed it at least 150 times made him infamous. Now, I think it is symbolic death. Death of inner child if you will. Plus, we all know how news,especially in that time, loved good bad-bad-bad news.

That's not really an obscure topic, anyone who's dabbled in psychedelics is at least vaguely familiar with the concept, but most research on the topic is tainted by pretty obvious prejudice, where obvious drug enthusiasts think it's the explanation of all human history and civilization, while people with no experience of it also have no understanding of its relation or at least similarity to key religious and philosophical concepts. So it's hard to find a good objective discussion on it.

The really interesting thing about Aleister Crowley is that pop culture is stuffed with references to his work and the teachings of the Hermetic Order of The Golden Dawn. Those ideas come up time and time again in literature, music, art, film and TV. It seems as though even people who have never heard of him have been influenced by his work.

To me, it is wild that a man such as this is so widely remembered. At the end of the day, he was nothing but a rich man who got so high on heroin that wrote books about his own made up religion and thought he could talk to deities. The malnourished abbey that he left really gives insight to what he truly was and what was going on in his head. He was nothing but an addict and a crazy man who the world grew infatuated with the idea of him, rather than who he really was.
@ah_dan6572
@ah_dan6572 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you solve this conundrum in your second sentence. He was rich, knew rich friends and people, and could organise publication of his thoughts. The occult was/is also an interesting subject, and he was reported on hundreds of different times across the world pre-ww2 which probably spread the idea of a "demon man" or whatever people thought of him then.

Ahh, shame you didn't mention the part where eminent poet W. B. Yeats kicked notable mountaineer Aleister Crowley down the stairs of the OTO lodge because Crowley was just being his usual asshole self and was yelling spells at everyone. Another great bit is the time he cast a spell of invisibility on himself while in Sri Lanka. Of course it didn't work and everyone could see him since he was wearing a bright red wizard cape, but they all were like "Eh, that's Al. Just ignore him. He does this sometimes." The reputation is bigger than the man. (But it does get fun when you start connecting him to well-known yacht salesman L. Ron Hubbard, among others.)

Aiwass is the gray alien archetype revealed before it was an american media trope or ufo sighting trope. It’s a fucked up rabbithole, but there’s a garden at the bottom of each one. I went down when I was 6 and at this point I can’t disconnect anything from the “supernatural” so to speak. It’s better left undiscovered unless you want greater horrors than human life normally brings into your perception. I had a girl break down crying in my room because she felt some “presence” even though she had been an atheist her entire life. I had my whole family walk to the front of my house to see lights disappearing and reappearing across the sky, trying varyingly to brush it off as sattelites and weather baloons even with the circling and blinking and such. Horrors. Pure horror everywhere. Unescapable evil and there is no evil. It is everywhere. Stay blind, you’ll regret it if you don’t. Ignorance is bliss. Ignorance is bliss. Ignorance is bliss.

Satan was unleashed from Hell in 1864 (Read the Message of La Salette). Jesus renews Humanity every 2000 years. Satan has his disciples. The Ego-Saxon world must fall. It murdered Natives, took lands, divided the Catholic Church into hundreds of sects, and even dares to patronize other nations. The English were given to the Devil. He has granted them so much power, but it's for their downfall. First, they will shove English down your throat. Apocalypse means Revelation. Its language is divine and speaks in symbols for and of all centuries.

The phrase "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" is often misunderstood. Thelema claims that every person has a "True Will", which simply put refers to a person's central purpose. As a religion, Thelema is all about discovering what your true purpose in life is, and then pursuing it to your greatest ability. "Do what thou wilt" doesn't mean indulging every whim that crosses your mind, but rather chasing your innermost True Will. Doing so will be "the whole of the law" because it's believed that a society in which everyone is perfectly in tune with their True Will would be so harmonious that no laws would be required.
@NewbPhil
@NewbPhil 2 жыл бұрын
Oh, and it just so happens that the guy's "true will" and "purpose" in life that came up with this entire philosophy was to be an asshole, cheat on nearly every person he'd ever been with, take copious amounts of hard drugs, and start a cult-commune where he coincidentally has all the power? Get real. Sure, that philosophy sounds good and all, and he had some interesting input on the world of the occult, but "finding your purpose" is the basic foundation of countless philosophies and religions; it is neither novel nor particularly revelatory or even interesting.
@Anthropomorphic
@Anthropomorphic 2 жыл бұрын
@@NewbPhil In my experience, even most Thelemites don't think Crowley was an exemplary person. They think he was knowledgeable and significant, but not necessarily a role model. They're generally pretty big on every person having to figure things out on their own. Not sure if he ever publicly declared what his True Will was, though he may have considered the founding and promulgation of Thelema to be it. I don't know whether or not Crowley micromanaged his students, or how dictatorial he was within the context of the organizations he founded or lead. He liked stirring up controversy and being the center of attention, but I suspect that he was probably almost terminally disinterested in actually leading anything. I'm not saying that the meaning of the phrase is novel or revelatory, only that it doesn't mean what a lot of people take it to mean.

@Guy Dude Heh. From what I've seen, most Thelemites aren't bothered by people being weird or making strange claims. If anything, they tend to enjoy it. As for equality, I think there's a kind of Stirner-like approach there. People aren't equal or unequal, because "people" don't exist. "Every man and every woman is a star", and so on.

His book 'Diary of a Drug Fiend' is a pretty wild novel for the 30s. I guess you could call it "autobiographical fiction"? It's chock full of sado-masochistic sexual debauchery, heavy-drug soaked occult escapades, and a healthy appetite for the destruction of "normal" society as a whole. A bit over written due to his love of the classic poets imo, but it's certainly worth a peep if you're into that sort of thing. Then William Burroughs came along in the 50s and took "that sort of thing" to a whole other level with his cracked masterpiece Naked Lunch.

With the Rule Of Three, these things are genuinely good things to live by and tbh aren’t much different than the Ten Commandments - who get more specific about things which harm people. Omg heyy hochelaga... Now I've been watching ur videos for a while and honestly am so impressed.. At first I thought u were jus like any other utuber who would jus stuff and say it all false.. But I was wrong. The way u actually dig down the deep roots of stuff and find answers is jus so commendable. Especially the videos which are related to the bible or Christianity. The way u found answers for stuff with details is so fascinating. And Infact any preacher or a Christian person can jus refer to ur videos. It's jus so helpful. Soo... hence I have a request from u. Its more like a plead... Not jus from me but also alot of other young people, teens in this world who are struggling with this. And that is.. Homosexuality and the bible. I feel like ur videos and u r jus.. PERFECT for covering this topic.. It is a very old equation going on with the church and many people still don't understand.. Still alot of homosexual people or lgbtq individuals are beaten upto death and then have been caused Harm by ex gay Christian ministries and conversion therapies..its jus so much pain.. This is one of the biggest issues going on with the church and now is the longest. Its something very different from the other struggles the church has had.. And needs different answers aswell.. Its a very complex issue going on which people jus like to twist and interpret it wrong. Like equating it to sexual acts like pedophilia or bestiality.. Even though they're no where related or equal to each other And thts why so many people still can't see the truth... Out of which many young LGBTQ individuals jus suicide.... Due to religious ignorance and bigotry, unacceptance and rejections from family and churches.. And hence I plead u... Am jus a mere 16 Yr old teen but this is coming from tht every other child who is struggling.. I fear condemnation so much.. Its triggered me. Whenever my parents eternally condemned gay people to hell... I heard.. And it kept breaking my soul slowly.. And this has been going on since I was 5,6 And tht time I didn't even know what lgbtq was but I knew somehow they were condemning me.. And it jus hurts u so much hearing it from ur parents mouth.. And now am out to my family.. But am still struggling.. And thts why I plead u rn to make a video on it.. So tht no other child would go through tht pain.. And also because the only way we get to explain our parents is by showing them videos.. And rn I feel like ur jus the perfect person to go deep down its roots and find answers for it. Tysm.

@@evanssamuelbiju4315 I understand what u mean sir.. but i want u to see tht this is a very mere thing but, now its jus become a huge struggle. there are alot of young LGBTQ teens who are going through depression and then also suicide because of unacceptance and rejection....and then also because of guilt because they couldnt change. the situation is so bad right now, tht recent studies about LGBTQ teens show tht even if one person supports them, they save them by suiciding by 40%! this is how huge and painful the struggle is, and then ur own parents condenmning u as a child...... ur spirit jus breaks beyond repair. and thats what i want christian people to see , i need them to look beyond what they were taught about it... Look at what is happening in reality...and it will open ur eyes , you"ll see tht its nothing like u were been taught about it...rather its more pain going on , more people struggling in such pain because of the church' ignorance and bigotry.. and I also want them to jus .... listen to their child when they pour their heart out to u, because everytime u eternally condemn gay people to hell, unbeknownst to you, a child will be listening to tht, and it might be ur own...ur child will feel scared and you'll jus keep losing ur child.. And if u genuinely love ur child, seeing them going through so much pain , for so many years in such a young age, and u had the slightest idea about it, its jus gonna break ur heart knowing that. knowing tht this was ur own child in such .....pain its not possible to change through prayers either..for this, id recommend u reading about the history of christian ex gay ministries ...like exodus international, love in action and alot of other ex gay ministries which came along . They failed with 99.9% accurately to change anyone. And these ministries went on for more than 5 decades and there wasn't one person who changed from Homosexual to Heterosexual. Rather the outcome of these ministries were death,suicide, anxiety and mental trauma...... young people constantly asking repentance and praying continuously so god changes them, and yet when there was no change....they suicided.... infact the heads of such ministries who once said they had changed too, who themselves were ex gay, came out again to say tht, they never changed either....they were still homosexual too. infact the heads of such ministries had to apologise publicly in tears to the LGBTQ community for the harm they have done, for the pain they had caused.. now they live such shame and guilt and they accept tht they are gonna live in shame for the rest of their lives. and this really has happened..its a mark in history of the church now. there are powerful movies, and documentary made on this..which i highly recommend watching like Prayers for Bobby, Boy Erased, Pray away, The miseducation of cameron post, Out of order etc. sadly there are new people who have taken up the torch of "change" this is how the devil is trying deceive people and confuse and blind them even more... but eventually they all are having this realization and which is the truth....tht is ...they are still gay... no matter how hard they try, they cannot change how they are naturally. There are alot of ex gay people in hiding who are ashamed to tell the world the truth, tht they never had changed... The reason all this is happening is because.... And the reason they couldnt change is because....there is nothing wrong with them.. yes, i know it sounds like a simple reason , but tht sentence says alot. all this while people were struggling and there was no change, because there was never anything wrong with them. They never chose to be tht way jus like u never chose to be straight..and when they never chose to be tht way the same way they cannot change it. yes nothing is impossible by god, but god is not gonna change ur eye colour from brown to blue, he's not gonna change ur skin color to purple... because u are perfect jus the natural way u r.. the bible tells us about how complex and intricate and wide the human creation is...We are fearfully and wonderfully made He knew us even before we were born, he knit us together in our mother's womb. he has everyone their own unique identity, science and the bible both teach us tht literally every human being is different. He hasn't made a mistake while creating us. What we need to do is not judge jus because u dont understand what is.. u saying they need changing is pure judging from ur side. jus because u dont understand what LGBTQ is really, doesnt mean they're not real. what we need to do is...gather knowledge .because knowledge for anything in general will reveal the truth. knowledge uis what u need. understand what homosexuality is really....why is it there... its jus a variant in ones sexual orientation which is a biological factor.. its not men in tights or drag queens ..its everyday people who have a job who want love, intimacy like u do, who want to have a family of their own too they're not less than anyone else, they're not broken people.....they are human beings jus like anyone else.. and they too are fearfully and wonderfully made. infact LGBTQ is a example of the complexity and intricacy and the diversity in us human beings..it shows human creation is such a wide spectrum. Like i said everyone is different from each other.and lgbtq is a part of tht diversity lastly no one is going to heaven for jus being straight... we are nor righteous by what we r but by what we do. and never judge someone if u dont understand it..because u never know how god works in their lives. and this is what is the truth........and the truth cannot be converted

Unmarried heterosexual people,if they act upon those urges, commit a sin(ac to the Bible...)...but is it not perfectly natural to have sexual urges...to act upon it...YES.But the Bible still calls it a sin.So,what I would like to convey here,is that even if something is natural...(have sexual urges,etc)it still could be a sin.So,what I would like to say with regards to this matter is...that just the way unmarried truly Christian heterosexual people remain celibate till their marriage..or the way married Christian couples do not act upon adulterous thoughts that come to their mind,a homosexual person should also surrender themselves to Christ..and Christ will help him overcome those sexual urges just the way he helps the heterosexual Christians.And at times..you may fail in surrendering your desires to Christ and may act upon those sinful desires...what really is important...at that time is that you are willing to repent.I wish you a good day..and pray that the best happens to you.And may Christ lead every sinner (just the way he leads me) back to himself.

Mr. Crowley What went on in your head? Oh, Mr. Crowley Did you talk to the dead? Your lifestyle to me seems so tragic With the thrill of it all You fooled all the people with magic Yeah, you waited on Satan's call Mr. Charming Did you think you were pure? Mr. Alarming In nocturnal rapport Uncovering things that were sacred Manifest on this Earth Oh, conceived in the eye of a secret Yeah, and they scattered the afterbirth Mr. Crowley Won't you ride my white horse? Mr. Crowley It's symbolic, of course Approaching a time that is classic I hear that maiden's call Approaching a time that is drastic Standing with their backs to the wall Was it polemically sent? i love your videos and like how you manage to talk about religious things in a secular way. not preaching about them as the truth or judging them for being religious. but this comment section is pretty wild. a lot of people preaching about their gods and deeming anyone else a satanist lol

It would be neat to see him make more videos about older pagan or “heretical” religions like Gnosticism or Stregheria. I imagine it’s difficult making short videos like this without coming off as preachy one way or the other. And you’re very right about the comment section. Lots of judgement and cyber-evangelism where none was needed, lol.

Excellent video, very well researched and produced. Stumbled upon this channel by accident. Just wish it had not taken me years to find, as YT quality seems to be increasingly diluted by low quality 3rd rate productions. This channel however ticks all the boxes. Well done :-)

"Do what thou wilt" does _not_ mean "Whatever you feel like doing, go and do it". Crowley made himself very clear in this central message, more than once.

Yes in fact it does. The concept of "true will" is no where to be found in Liber AL. Crowley later created the idea of "true will", however it is a distortion of the original texts of Liber AL.

I visited the temple in sicily. We walked into this baron kind of dry area next to what looked like a prison. In the woods on the right side we saw a really overgrown building. We had to kind of crawl into the house as there was no door. When we came inside we were surprised how destroyed it was. No roof in several of the rooms. But it was really cool to see.
