I knew the alphabet and sounds before starting these videos. It’s extremely helpful in this video to understand a little bit about how vav functions sound wise. Thank yo Beth these videos are a great blessing!

It's interesting how the letters change into soft form depending on being first or second and the "and" changes also to soft or hard depending on words order. Such a simple thing in a language and it's so complicated already 😂

Thank you so much for helping us to hear and train our ear. That is easier for me than trying to understand the grammar reasons right now. Sometimes it is a hard sound and sometimes soft sound. B vs V etc. Thank you for your patience with this slow learner. 😊

Great video, adding subtitles would be a great help unless you have 3-4 years to start understanding before learning as a young child in preschool. Great method if you are under the age of 10. Adults are able to read and would benefit from some explanations

Thank you so much for your efforts. I'm loving these videos. You are very talented. I have 2 questions please: 1) I noticed cow is sometimes pronounced "Par" or "Para" and other times especially in plural i hear "Farot". What is the correct way p or f? 2) The "and" word is sometimes pronounced "vi", "ve" or "w". Does the pronunciation change based on the word that comes after?

You’ll get used to it as you internalize more. At this stage, it’s best to listen and focus on the meaning rather than trying to analyze forms of words. You’ll thank yourself later because then you’ll basically be reviewing things you’ve already internalized.

Hey, I have a question, I hear you sometimes say something like "Gamal v ohalim" for "a camel and tents" but other times I hear you say "khamorim u na'arim" so...why are there two words for and, and how do I know when to use them? I also hear that the initial consonant sometimes gets deleted when using the "u" and.

So, the vav changes, the P to F and the B to V and the K to Kh? Thanks.
@AlephwithBeth
@AlephwithBeth 11 ай бұрын
Yes, if you know phonetic terms, the stops/plosives become fricatives. This change happens between vowels, not just after vav. :)
@emmawalter5433
@emmawalter5433 Жыл бұрын
Why is does the כ in kvasim get the u', but the כ in kosot gets the v' even they they both go from k to ch when they get the vav?
@AlephwithBeth
@AlephwithBeth Жыл бұрын
The "כ" in "כְּבָשִׂים" has a shewa underneath it. In cases before a word with a shewa vowel, the -וְ (vǝ-) becomes -וּ (u-). The "כ" in "כֹּסוֹת" does not have a shewa below it, so the -וְ (vǝ-) remains unchanged.
