In 1955, a then up-and-coming BBC producer, David Attenborough, gifted six young explorers a film reel so that they could document their ambitious 19,000-mile journey from London to Singapore - a history-making feat dubbed the First Overland. In The Last Overland, young British filmmaker and adventurer Alex Bescoby writes about his own epic 2019 journey by car from Singapore to London - a trip he planned with one of the original six explorers and in the very same Land Rover used in 1955. He speaks with Mustafa Alrawi about defying the odds, how the road - and world - have changed since the first expedition, and the surprising moments experienced along the way.
