I think that he will fit right in at Utd as a former Leeds captain that has also coached City's age group squads. Additionally, his stint under former Reds legend Dalglish should come in handy too. After all, the this century has seen so many Utd players with allegiances to Leeds/Liverpool and Man City.

United are clearly trying to set out they wont be ripped off anymore for recruitment, like they have been on every deal they have done for a decade. Agents, players coming in and out have all ripped United off, and they have just paid the fees anyway. In they keep just paying the fee they will always been seen as weak negotiation teams and keep over spending. £20M for a director of football is unheard of and whatever Southampton think they can get for Wilcox is probably way over odds as well.

Ahh, Liverpool fans. Keep crying. Wilcox is very likely Omar's recommendation from his time at City, if that's what you mean by "jobs for the boys". Wilcox lead City's academy very successfully for the past 5 years. That doesn't sound like a bad thing at all to me. He actually sounds perfect for our Technical Director role. The only concerning thing about this potential "jobs for the boys" situation is the Southgate rumours, which are all BS in my opinion anyway

TalkSport will never say because he’s English/Scottish but McTominay is the biggest problem for United losing control of games. McTominay is a center midfielder, not a forward. But his entire game is predicated on being completely uninvolved in the build up, going unnoticed, and making late runs into the box looking to score on cutbacks, deflections, and scraps. The problem is that comes at the expense of United completely losing the midfield as a result of McTominay constantly doing this and nothing else. If you actually just focus in on McTominay while watching United, it’s straight up cowardly how he plays as a center midfielder. He intentionally positions himself behind opposing players so he can never receive the ball. He regularly goes 10 minutes at a time without a single touch…as a center midfielder. And one of the bigger problems he creates is he’s constantly encroaching into Bruno and Hojlund’s forward attacking spaces while leaving Mainoo and Casemiro completely exposed behind him. United are never going to be able to control and dictate games with McTominay as a center midfielder. TalkSport will casually never mention him when criticizing United but he is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, reasons why United cannot control the midfield again and again.

@kol9382 Both can be true. But the problem is McTominay is a squad level player who is consistently starting for United. He’d fit in very well for Brentford or Everton. But he is single-handedly causing huge and very real problems for United. And his goals here and there are actually making it worse bigger picture. Because it’s giving these pundits, and casual observers who don’t pay attention to tactics, reasons to say that McTominay provides huge upside for United. With Mount returning, Ten Hag needs to remove McTominay from the starting lineup because he is categorically causing huge problems for United. He’s fine coming off the bench for 15-20 minutes if United are in need of a goal and are going for it. But otherwise, he’s a huge liability.

@JamesSmith-pc7vy I’m genuinely wondering if academy players like McTominay and Rashford have some type of pull/power/backing behind the scenes that is making manager after manager start them. Because it does not make any logical sense for 4-5 managers continuing with these two guys that, in their own ways, are destroying United in the long run. It genuinely baffles me how this has been allowed to continue at United for so long. Because Pep, Arteta, and Klopp would never have allowed McTominay and Rashford to last beyond a year or two, maximum.
