My coach used to preach, “you might not get called on the penalty, but you’ll ALWAYS get called on the retaliation.”
@akrakenreleased6 ай бұрын
@zebdawson3687 100% true, but these refs shouldn't be in the NHL if they're going to miss things that blatant and right in the play. Also, as long as we're reviewing offsides (I think that there's a better way to go about that one without fully removing it), the coaches should get 1 review for a blatant missed penalty if that penalty led to a called retaliation.

He was right. But a player has to stand up for himself...
@zebdawson36876 ай бұрын
@@rrl4245 oh for sure, just gotta understand that you’re the one likely to get called. I also think it’s an alright penalty to take if you’re sticking up for a teammate as well (ex. Will Cuylle after the hit on Lindgren in the Flyers-Rangers game, 10 minute misconduct, 5 for fighting, and 2 for instigating, but EVERYONE from coaches to broadcasters all felt that was worth taking 17 minutes in the box to stick up for your man).

@Wallaces_Wood6 ай бұрын
Everyone points to the Ehlers hit and rightfully so, but he had a history of doing this on the flyers too. I remember shortly after he got traded there he hit Dahlin with a late hit up high and got away with it that time. Dude is a fucking thug. And even on this Debrincat retaliation, Hartman literally snaps his own head back to make it look worse than what it was. Gutless player and needs to be out of the league before he ends someone's career. But as long as George "dipshit Mcgoon" Parros is in charge of that worthless department nothing will happen. The NHL is DESPERATE for new leadership at literally every level. It's almost impressive how often they get in their own way.
@ryanthiessen90406 ай бұрын
He intentionally tried to go knee to knee on Jason Robertson, in the PRE SEASON. Hartman is gutless and belongs in the echl.

Glad you mentioned the Ehlers thing. All he got was the final night of the regular season off... Ehlers finally came back in game three or four of playoffs, but wasnt the same... Hartman was back for game 1 of playoffs. Fun idea, you only get one "normal suspension" in your career... After that, it you hurt somebody AND get suspended, you're out as long as the person you injured is out...

I was watching this game and the announcers of the other broadcast were talking about how you want a guy like this on your team because he can agitate penalties. But I think that's a stupid take, if the refs did their jobs here and called the obvious slew foot there wouldn't have been a retaliation and this guy would be seen as a liability to have on your team, putting you on the penalty kill when you're already down a goal late in the game. Its these missed calls that enable this kind of play.

You can go after the refs all you want, but the IR was specifically brought in to stop nonsense like this where you can get Hartman on his slewfoot and keep DeBrincat out of the box.
