Reading the title I got really mad. But then I thought about the fact that woods thought Alex was dead in that certain cutscene. So it makes sense that he’s dead as of now, but finally reveals himself after 30 years.

Well them saying Mason is dead leading into BO6 isn’t anything to be shocked about. Them saying that doesn’t deny the possibility of mason still being alive. Everyone knows he’s supposedly dead and when BO6 takes place everyone thinks he’s dead, at that time. There’s obviously still a possibility of them confirming he’s alive in the future but right now in this setting they’re obviously gonna confirm he’s dead for this game.

Even if you shoot Mason in the leg, he’s considered “dead” or MIA until he shows up in 2025.

People keep debating that it was dumb for Woods to go for the legs when if you play it out correctly and collect all the clues he starts remembering what Kravchenko said and even in that mission before the confrontation him and Mason were suspicious about something being off they even talk about the CIA file they found in the drug compound, even old Woods says as he’s retelling the story that he knew something was up there were so many queues to warn the player narratively.

I dont really think Mason is dead. If he is dead, they should clarify that to the playerbase, not to you guys wo exclusively get to talk to the devs. Why won't they tell us for 12 years it just doesnt make sense

yeah & i’m pretty sure treyarch has stated before that it the ending where you shoot him in the legs is canon..

In the mission "Suffer With Me" the game developers should've went with smaller caliber sniper rifle in the sniping scene not a freaking anti truck rifle, realistically if Mason got shot to the head with a 50 cal he wouldn't have one... I think Mason surviving is canon. Throughout that mission there were many signs indicating that something is not right, Hudson who's supposed to be running the operation from the comms link was disappearing for long periods of time, the sudden prisoner swap order with little to no details, the idea that CIA's operations in Central America can be compromised when thinking about Menendez having CIA memos in his compound and his close ties to Noriega, Woods and Mason didn't like non of that and clearly knew something else is going on, plus Mason went dark on comms as soon as he went to another position away from Woods, Noriega being too comfortable and even went encouraging Woods to take the shot... Remember, the idea of Menendez having moles in the CIA literally crossed Woods' mind as he was about to aim his weapon, that did happen for a reason. All of that made Woods question things in his mind so he decided no to take the headshot and went for the least fatal hit. I think best bet for Mason to survive that 50 cal shot and have all his limbs was to get grazed in the side of the thigh. But even with the least devastating shot from a 50, Mason should have immediate medical care to prevent fatal blood loss, so someone must've taken care of both unconscious Woods and Mason shortly after Menendez got away... This opens up for speculations as of who's the one helped them at the spot, maybe it's some Panamanian citizens, maybe it's that navy seal McKnight arrived there and gave first aid care to both but when Mason gained conscious first he made an agreement with him not to tell a soul that he's alive if he did survive that wound. Woods got evacuated with David to the US not knowing that Mason is alive, while Mason was probably kept healing in Panama until he can walk again. Why would Mason fake his death, he already knows how powerful Menendez is from his cocaïne empire and gun running but he came as way more powerful and invincible since he got people everywhere even in the CIA, so Mason didn't wanna have that guy who have a "you must suffer as I have suffered" type of revenge going after his son, so he instantly figured that the best way to protect his son is to be keep being "dead" and he knew Woods would take care of David. This is canon and logical, that's why Mason only reappeared immediately when it's all over with Menendez being dead or incarcerated.

So black ops 6 is basically black ops 3 😂continuing the story of 1 and 2

I think theres gona be more to this i think alex mason is alive personally because he turns uo 30 years later so im guessing reznov actually survived vorkuta after getting captured again then was released some years later hel be an old man but still would have some connections and managed to get mason out after he was accidentally shot by woods and pretended to be dead to keep david safe from menendez but i think he would be secretly providing intel to woods and adler without them Knowing where it came from

It could be major cope but I thought those saying he’s “dead” could be playing into direct character lore? At this point there wouldn’t be a soul left to believe Mason was alive. (Woods is already in the chair, Section being a kid, Hudson is dead, etc.) Mason IS dead to everyone who knew him; to us he’s not because 30 years later we see he pops back out like a Dr. Psychotic homunculus.

black ops 6 campaign could have a system of endings that connects to different universes, example one connects it with the old modern warfare timeline, another which connects to the newer mw timeline, and another the black ops future timeline. but i think this could be a hit or a miss tbh.

For something that have an enormous impact on the storyline of the Black Ops serie it would be outrageous to announce it like it wasn’t a big deal unless it hides something underneath it

maybe they said he’s dead because that’s what he’s classified as while he’s in hiding, he’s shot and never seen again (until 2025) so he’s classified as KIA without maybe even being dead

Actually there are multiple variants of a good and bad ending, it depends on what happens during the campaign (mason is shot in the leg, karma lives, harper dies, menendez is killed, captured, and if you killed the guy who attempts to kidnap karma).

In Nicaragua, CIA was not actually sent to kill menendez on sight but to capture alive. Woods however was so fuled with rage that he didn't care and only wanted to kill him. Hudson even told Mason to keep an eye on woods since he was so furious and uncontrollable, that's why you see him try to stop woods from killing menendez but fails.

Nah Mason cannot be dead if you don't kill Kravchenko in "Old Wounds" and find the Cia documents in "Time and Fate" it would indicate that Mason lived because if you play "Suffer with me" you will hear Kravchenko voice saying "I even have people in the CIA" and Woods is smart

Mason is a big part of the story, i don't think they gonna leave it as simple as that. Yeah, he is KIA to everyone that we know of, but that also mean that he is ... a ghost, free to do whatever he wants. And the Black Ops franchise doesn't have any shortage for conspiracies. If they gonna advance the story of Alex working in the shadow, protecting Section/David all the way to the story of BO2, i wouldn't be surprised.

There is the possibility that the way they said "Mason is dead" is to try and get us to see it thru Wood's POV. Besides the game is set in the 1990s and were now trying to cope with everything that has happened. So at the moment we accept that Mason is dead. This is their way to get us hooked for the next Treyarch game if they begin to tease us with hints of Alex Mason being alive. Edit: besides I dont think they would reveal a big part of the plot like this and Mason is a really popular character too so why would they not wanna bring him into warzone for money 💀 Edit: they also didn't specifically say woods shot him in the head

Hes dead regardless of your choice in Black Ops 2. Even if Woods shoots his leg he and everyone else thinks hes dead for the next 30 years. Now it doesn’t matter if he is actually dead until they decide to continue David Masons story. Then they’ll have to make a canon ending for Alex a d tell us if Woods really killed him or if he was secretly alive the entire time.

What I want to know is why was Adler at rebirth Island but we never saw him in Black ops 1 campaign which is probably something that they have to fix. Also in the cut scene at the end of Cold war did stitch see Mason when Adler got off the helicopter and point the gun at him. Did he feel extreme fear because he remembers seeing on the camera feeds, Mason killing everybody on one side of the island while a team of soldiers and CIA showed up on the other side. And has it been confirmed how many people Mason ended up killing canonically during his one man rampage on rebirth.
