Alex Ovechkin spoke with Scott Oake about the long road to winning the Stanley Cup and then gave a shout out to his Washington Capitals fans- to start celebrating along with the team.

As a Pens fan I thought I would hate seeing the Caps win, but I don't. Definition of hard work - they outplayed everyone decisively and to be fair, it's a nice feeling seeing Ovi so happy with a cup - congrats Washington.

Pens fan all day. But I smiled for holtby mostly and was happy for him. Definitely deserved the cup. There was a lot of bullshit calls in r2, but you don't win on calls alone and its that simple. The biggest reason I didn't want the caps to win is cause of tom Wilson. But that's just a personal disliking of the guy. The caps definitely deserved it though, there's no doubt. With that being said... Let's go pens

Jeremy Mikesell Carlson is a Capital for at least 8 more seasons. Smith-Pelly is back for at least one season. So far Caps have lost only Gruby and Orpik(Orpik may be back at a lower cost). They just need to get Wilson and Kempny signed and the whole crew is back. Looking good for next season. Only thing that worries me is losing Trotz. Hopefully Todd can fill his shoes.

Reminds me of another great 8, Selänne was wonderful player who hunted the cup for so long, I stopped believing he’d ever win it. Now I have same happy feelings for Ovi as I had for Selänne years ago.

Flyers fan here!!!! And I can't get over how happy I am for Ovechkin. He deserved this so much, and worked so hard for so long. I was beyond thrilled when he lifted that Cup, and still am! If my Flyers couldn't win the Cup, I'm so glad the Capitals did.

From a pens fan, congrats to the capitals. I was really hating the caps this entire playoffs but for some reason I was really happy to see Ovi in the end be overjoyed with his victory. Plus, it's just an otherworldly experience to see a new team hoist the cup for once.
