After four years away from MMA, Alex Pereira faced Thomas Powell at LFA 95 in 2020. This regional MMA fight gained hype due to Pereira's decorated kickboxing career. Alex would deliver with a first round knockout that many considered to be one of the more brutal finishes in recent memory. If you watched his full k.o tape dating back to Glory , i wouldn’t argue if you said it was the best ever in the sport of mma . Melted Strickland with it . Funny thing is I told my friend Strickland would walk into and was the perfect bot to display it on . Not that he’s bad or stupid but he leans forward in his momentum . Won 400$ off him that night . No telegraph high speed perfect mechanics all combined with his lean lengthy upper body gives him a pretty unreal level of torque. It’s actually weird that other guys don’t throw this punch remotely close to as well as he does but I guess I underestimate how many aspects of mma are neglected for the sake of general roundedness .

man i’ve watched him throw that hook so many times and i just cannot wrap my head around just how strong it is. it barely touches anybody and kills them, you don’t even see alex generate a ton of torque but it still slumps nearly everybody. almost everybody cause izzy caught alex’s worst bomb and only kinda got wobbled. in the slowmo of that one you can see the energy rippling on izzy’s chest/torso on its way to his head. izzy had that holloway chin for 5 seconds

@woahitsmeach9150 it's the difference between knowing it's coming and being completely dedicated to throwing a shot and being caught off guard by it. It's always the one you don't see or expect that turns the lights out. Sean ate it, got dropped and popped right back up. But the second shot really did him in. Alex creates all that torque by turning his waist and upper body into it. Plus some guys just have stupid hard/heavy hands. Alex's hands are gigantic and dense.

For me it was the Jason Wilnis knockout. He kicked Wilnis in the head and cut his eye fucking instantly. Then he double flying knee’d the poor bastard seconds later and it looked like Wilnis saw god for a moment. When I saw that is when I realized Alex is just a freak of nature and no amount of training could get me (or anyone else for that matter) to acquire the same power he has to hit someone as hard he does. It just doesn’t make sense he hits people one or two times and they’re just done they can’t take it anymore it’s baffling to watch Poatan crumble people like that.
