The smile lines around his eyes said it all. He was always upbeat and had some witty comeback for almost anything. He was also a true gentleman - we need more of those. He tackled his cancer diagnosis with honesty and humor. There will never be anyone like him. I feel so blessed to have been able to invite him into my home for the past 36 years. RIP - you have fought the good fight and won!

I don’t normally get taken in by celebrities but the death of Alex Trebek really hurt my heart. What an amazing and inspirational man. Not only to still be working at 80 years old but to be doing it in the face of cancer. I have so much respect for him. This was a beautiful tribute that brought me to tears. Alex Trebek you will be missed!❤️ Jeopardy will never be the same. I’d hate to be the one trying to fill his shoes.
@hume69003 жыл бұрын
The person they hire to host Jeopardy may feel at first that he is just filling in, but, if he/she is both very, very lucky and very, very smart he/she will make that spot his own, just like Mr. Trebek did after Art Fleming.
@LiPo50003 жыл бұрын
@@hume6900 I read an article that "Ken Jennings" would be the first to host the show for a few weeks, then two or three more will do the same. After the third person or so, Jeopardy will make a decision on the permanent replacement! "BUT" . . . . they will NEVER replace "AXEX TREBEK"! RIP ALEX ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I was introduced to Jeopardy while working evening parties at Disneyland in California. At the time I was the opening lead on Its a Small World and we were required to have the ride on with the clock working every night at 8 pm when the park opened for the evening party. Jeorpardy was a 730-800 pm show. I could watch all but Final Jeopardy and make it to the ride, jump the fence at the end of the and land on the walkway to go inside the exit to release the boats. Between the fence and walkway was a small hill, wet when raining or foggy. One night I came running out of the break room at 757 pm (after final) jumped the fence trying to hit the walkway, but I over shot the walkway and landed in the water, called the flume. The heavy woolen pea coat jacket gained 50 lbs of water and I was drenched. Was able to release the boats, rush to the dock, squish, squish, turn on the clock, light the outside and inside, then add outside and inside music by 7:59. Got a call from our ops center asking why I was so late, had to point out that I made the deadline with seconds to spare. I almost lost my job at Disneyland because of my stupid stunt. Luckily my supervisor was a big Jeopardy fan and after this incident would call me with the final question from the break room, and let us know who won. That story is from the late 1980’s. Since then I’ve lived in Hong Kong and Tokyo with no access other than to have friends make video tapes and ship them to me. Thank you Alex for 35 years of smart, stimulating and entertaining shows. You will be missed by so many more than just your family and friends, but by millions of people around the English speaking world. You have done a great service to mankind, honoring the most intelligent and making it cool to be smart.

Miss him. He was so brave and inspirational in his fight with Pancreatic cancer. It's one of the worst ones you can get, he knew he didn't have long to live, but kept up the good fight. The only positive thing about it was, he was 80 when he passed, so he got it later in life, so many are much younger. Either way it's sad. No one deserves it. Hope they can get a cure for it soon.

Alex Trebek was loved by millions of people♥️. I have the last show recorded but have yet to watch it...I just don’t want to say “goodbye” 😔 The person to host the show now will always be compared to Alex .... it will be hard! I hope they find a really smart, kind, and gentle person to host the game. A game that I have watched since day one, and later my children too, so much so that they had a habit of humming the tune to themself while taking test 😊 My oldest, forgot while taking an aptitude test in 2nd grade, and was humming louder than she thought and could be heard humming. Her teacher whispered to her that “secret” was now out and the teacher now knew why she was so smart 😊
