I was in the audience for this and was extremely shocked, because I had no idea that she has a beautiful singing voice. Her father can sing, her mother isn’t known to sing, so there was no reason to assume she would be born with a great singing voice. The brings back a fond memory of Billy Joel and Alexa. In 2006, my wife and I stopped late one night to say hello to Norman, the long-time bartender and fixture at the Ritz in NYC. While sipping a drink at the bar, my wife asked me to ask the pianist to play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" (a favorite request of hers). The piano was behind a column so I couldn't see the pianist. When I went to ask, I realized why we were hearing a lot of Billy Joel tunes, it was Billy sitting at the piano playing with Alexa on the bench with him. I went back to explain to my wife that it was Billy Joel playing and she said, well, he's a piano player, marched over and asked him to play it. Sure enough, he did with my wife sitting on the bench with him and Alexa. Of course, this left me with the question "what do you tip Pianoman?" Needless to say, we (and everyone else) stayed for more than one drink as Billy played for over an hour.

Why do all the haters expect an American Idol or X-Factor caliber performance? As if any of you could have done better? Her performance was filled with raw emotion, and she still kept it together without her voice cracking or having to stop. I say she did an amazing job! To those saying she's flat, listen to it with headphones and you'll realize she's perfectly on key. The distortion comes from a loud live performance being recorded on a cell phone. If you haven't noticed, any concert recorded on a cell phone will have distortion between the band and the singer, that's just how it is!

Oh my God! I’ve loved that song and that movie for many years! Alexa Ray you nailed that! What a beautiful song to sing for your dad! How you didn’t break down and lose it is a miracle! I love your voice! You are exceptionally talented! ❤

I saw Billy Joel in Sydney over40 year ago and remains one of my top 3 concerts of all time…..and I have seen some great musicians. Billy held the audience in his thrall.

I haven't seen her since she was a baby and it seems like only yesterday that she was born at valley Presbyterian hospital, where my baby was born. This was really lovely.

My dad and I would stay up for hours listening to music, including Billy Joel. I love those memories. My dad has always been my sun and always will be but, I’m losing him to cancer. Billy Joel always reminded me of my dad. I pray that my dad and I can listen to music together someday in Heaven. I love my dad so much! I hope Billy Joel has a very long life ahead of him so that he and his daughter can make music together for a very long time to come. Bless their beautiful relationship. It makes me happy to see.
