No wonder he didn't get more famous. Very few scores from the beautiful passes delivered. Such a great and underrated player.

Hleb's weakness is his shooting (which is very bad) and not really good at long ball. If not, he would have been a legendary level player

Such an elegant baller. He was top drawer technically. His balance, close control, vision, disguise, feints and swift drops of the shoulder that he would do when he was dribbling were great to watch. His timing and weight of pass as well were excellent and he was brilliant at creating space for teammates to run into by drawing opposition players towards him when he was in possession of the ball. He's on the record publicly as well saying that the worst thing he ever did was leaving Arsenal and going to Barcelona or something to that effect. He doesn't get talked about enough by fans when talking about this period. Most fans from other clubs probably don't even remember him. Very underrated and underappreciated.

Hleb was an absolute delight to watch and he was one of the symbols for Wengerball. The link between him and Fabregas was able to break through any defense to create goal-scoring opportunities. In terms of the close ball control and dribbling, I see a bit of Hleb in Emile Smith Rowe.

@@oisin5684 I agree. Some fans did not give him enough credits as he didn't score much. However, he is the master of pre-assist pass, and lots of great things he did was very underrated. Remember he dribbled passed the whole Liverpool defense amazingly in 07/08 UCL and got fouled without being given a penalty. That moment is kinda like miniature of his career at Arsenal.

This man was just different with the ball at his feet. It wasn't much flashy, not a speed demon or anything like that, just elegance and full mastery of ball control.

Hleb: The Beauty Of The Science Of The Art Of Dribbling. Alexander Hleb is the greatest dribbler in what I've seen, both live and otherwise, of football's history. This is my opinion, I've been open to replacing him if I saw any other who's able to convince me more than Hleb, but there's been none. This is not to dismiss Hleb's few errors at few times(everybody has errors), this is to say that Hleb is the one that has been able to convince me most, out of very many alternatives who are also brilliant. Repetition? I love his skills that much and more. Wondering how anyone could appreciate another's skills that much? Here's an example. In a game against the French national team, a relatively long time ago, the commentator, in describing how Hleb went past one of his opponents 'who was right in front of Hleb', said "He (Hleb) dribbled past him (the French footballer) like he (the French footballer) was not there". Do you really appreciate (literally and/or literarily) the meaning and weight of that commentary? Those who have truly played football, whether professionally or not, should acknowledge that dribbling past an opponent 'who is right in front of you', takes something special and often unplanned (just instant like an unexpected spark) because the idea to use just hit your mind in that moment. There are times it's the only idea that comes (making it easier to do it), and at other times it is one of alternatives (you have a role to play, you have to choose, and choosing is among variously appealing alternatives, because time and events aren't within your control and are moving along (making whatever relative advantage you may have or otherwise irrelevant, so you are mentally calculating various figures - the distance between you and the closest opponent and the rate that distance is diminishing, the various angles, distance between you and goal, the yet unknown reaction of possible obstacles like the goalkeeper, etc - you must choose, and by that acknowledge that your decision is what you think agree is the best that could best help your cause of putting the ball in the net - through which various interests are connected and impacted. Interests like team owners and management, fans, opponents, indifferent spectators, bodies, the grand history of football etc. Did I lost you there? Do you understand all I wrote above? Whatever the case, you must do something or pretend to do, in that instant, something that you acknowledge is the best thing to best help various causes. Meaning, various interests had absolutely no literal influence on you, and somehow dependent on your decision. Do you understand all these? Now, imagine you are faced with all these. And imagine you are the one who must make that choice. Now imagine that you handled things so well, on the general note, that you are said to have done so, making it seem the challenge (s) wasn't(weren't) even there. That's the weight of that commentator's commentary. This might help, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/brl6pqiauNe-YWQ.html
