We are already counting down to the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. We do that by looking back to recent editions of Europe's favorite TV show. This time we go to 2009, when the contest was held in Moscow, Russia
Alexander Rybak represented Norway in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Fairytale'. Norway won the grand final and brought the Eurovision Song Contest to Oslo in 2010.

he’s not playing the violin lol all backing music in eurovision has to be pre recorded. everyone that plays instruments on the stage is just pretending. the bow string just broke and he just had to keep pretend playing.

@@redundantopinion705 The singing is not pre-recorded, but all instrumental music is. I'm sure he can actually play the song really well, however the violin that you are hearing is mostly, if not entirely, coming from the recording. He does play the violin here, but he is dancing around a lot with it, the violin is likely not miced up, and if it were it would likely not sound nearly as good as a recording. For all I know the violin that he is performing with could be muted, as to not disturb the recorded music in the intermissions between singing, or perhaps his microphone is turned down heavily when he is playing and not singing.

He's in love with a fairytale meaning he's in love with the idea of his relationship with her. They had a terrible relationship, clearly from the song, but he's romanticizing it because he misses her. The "fairytale" aspect is a version of their relationship that only consists of the happy parts, a sugar-coded, rose-tinted version of them, and he's in love with the idea of it.

@@dispogaming1011 He of course played it himself to record the instrumental part, but in Eurovision all the live instruments on stage actually are not connected to any speakers, so they mostly are there for looks/ pretend to play. But yes ofc, bc violin is part of him, he is also too playing it whilst he sings, it's quite phenomenal :)

Its norwegian folkdance, goes back for centuries. They åerform in norwegian folksuits, which is different due to where your family lived ... The jump with hat used to be an old contest 💕💕
