Isner's height gives him his big serve, but otherwise it makes him a little clumsy and slow to react.
@danielmltu
@danielmltu 5 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Everyone thinks it's unfair, but his height is also a disadvantage.
@donquixotedoflamingo5510
@donquixotedoflamingo5510 5 жыл бұрын
@@danielmltu It's far more of an advantage than a disadvantage imo. How many 6'10 guys play Tennis? i mean how many 6'10 guys are there in the first place. The fact that 1 of them became this successful says alot. If there is as much 6'10+ guys who didcate themselves to tennis as guys who are 6'1/6'4, they would definitely dominate. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
@danielmltu
@danielmltu 5 жыл бұрын
@@donquixotedoflamingo5510 Nah. I see your point but extremely tall people get out angled because of slower movement.
@donquixotedoflamingo5510
@donquixotedoflamingo5510 5 жыл бұрын
@@danielmltu I Don't think you really "See" my point, but ok. All you have to do is look at top Tennis players and realize that they're getting taller and taller. Zverev 6'6, Tsitsips 6'5, Anderson 6'8, Del Potro 6'6, Isner 6'10, Monfils 6'5, Cilic 6'6, Medved 6'6, Raonic 6'5. All these 6'5 to 6'10 guys are all in the top 20. Being 6'6 ot 6'7 "maybe" better than being 6'10 in Tennis. But if i had the choice, i would take 6'10 than 6 foot or shorter anyday. The advantages faaar outweigh the disadvantages

Don Quixote Doflamingo what’s funny about the people you just named is that they aren’t the top of the top, look at the big three. There’s a reason they are still the big three which has no relevance to height. If 6’10 is such an advantage how tf does he casually miss a floater forehand and why does he only have 1 title. If it was a huge advantage there would be more guys like that but there aren’t bc it doesn’t help as much as people like you think it does.

Audrey Hepburn Zverev’s personality is the equivalent of a sack of shit. He’s arrogant, he’s a sore loser, he has a temper and he’s disrespectful. I love how people always try to use his age as an excuse for his shitty behaviour lol. Look at the people his age: Chung, Shapovalov, Tsitsipas none of them are this shitty on and off the court.

i still don't get why so many people hate on Zverev. He's my favorite player on tour right now. Big ground strokes, big serve, great movement (best of the 6'6 +; better than Delpo and Cilic for sure), and hopefully will improve his net game. Amazing work ethic and has good measured sense of "arrogance" if you will. i guess you know someone has really made it big when that person starts getting so many haters lol

i don't really find him to be a "douche". i guess its really about perspective and how you interpret certain behavior. for example, him yelling "come on" and fist pumping will come off as arrogant to you but more of a self energizing to me. but say if federer does the same thing, you wouldn't think so. he must have done something to you personally that you hate him so much lol. if anything, you shouldve seen Isner today in that second set breaker. he was wagging his finger telling the crowd to get louder like he already won the match. i interpreted that as annoying and stupid, but i realize that I'm not the biggest fan of Isner's game so its probably more personal than anything. you seem to have trouble differentiating from your personal biases and the actual truth. my thought is unless you've personally had a bad experience with a player, no one on tour is a true "arrogant douche"

First of all, i really do not understand the hate on Zverev. The kid's got 3 Masters titles from 5 finals at 21 and he won those in front of Federer and Djokovic and Thiem on clay, when Thiem is currently the best clay court player in the world after Rafa. He almost beat Rafa on clay in the Rome final. Roger had only 1 Masters title and no GS at that age, for example. Give the guy a break. Europe has the best players in history on their team, players who are still the best players in the world at the moment: Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal (last year's edition), Novak Djokovic. Zverev is 5th and pretty close to them at 21 years of age. If the american's greatest hopes are the likes of Isner, Querrey and Sock, i really pity the american tennis for what it has become. They dominated the world with the likes of Connors, McEnroe, Sampras, Agassi and others, and now they have become really pitiful. The main reason for that is the american tennis school system, where basically everything is emphasized on the serve. Isner, Querrey, Sock and others are products of that because once you return their serve, half the point is won for the opponent.

Can someone please explain to me, I only saw highlights last year as well. Why does this seem like such a big deal to the players? It’s an exhibition right? They are playing like it’s Davis Cup. I know sometimes people are really serious in Hopman Cup also even though it’s exhibition. Was just curious as to what this tournament actually is and what the winning team receives?

Tense 2nd set TB - I just don't get why Sascha didn't play smarter. Isner has a huge serve and usually gets a short return back (if anything:)) -> approach shot, charges to the net. Its not so difficult to pass him or distract him with a low ball. And if he stays at the baseline, he can be worn down quickly with changing directions. Yet Zverev on many points was feeding him with easy shots, Isner hardly had to move. Anyway, who cares? Great match, great atmosphere and its just a game.

but like....he literally just got on the scene barely 2 years ago lol. didn't win his first title until St. Petersburg (which is going on now) 2016. I would say he "officially" got on the scene when he won Rome last year. So...yes, it literally just burst onto the scene. I would say right now, with the exception of the big 3 and Delpo, he is the most consistent player on tour. Otherwise there's no way he would be ranked #5. so idk what the hell you're talking about when you say his game regresses lol. its way too early to tell. sample size is too small. don't say make random claims. Also, John Isner is a great exception no matter who he plays. He can and will take the racket out of your hands everytime you play him so it's not a simply matter of rankings when playing Isner

@Spirit for Tennis trying to overpower your opponents has never worked! (rafa, nole). Sorry, but you guys are way too early to judge. How long do you think Roger will be in contention for nr1? Rafa and nole are over 30 now, as well as Stan and Murray who still fight to come back, or delpo who isn't exactly young as well and extremely injury prone. Thiem is 4 years older and probably reached his peak and never even won a masters. Kyrgios seems to be stuck at 10 to 20. So who exactly do you think will be nr1 in the upcoming years?

Isner isn't really that good to be honest. His ground stroke are very predicable and relatively easy to counter.

@@tintin152 You totally misinterpreted my comment. He is subpar against most of the elite tennis players. Not saying he is terrible but overrated.

Sure he might be top 11 and has won several tournaments, but no grand slam titles to show for it. As mentioned earlier, not a terrible tennis player, but lacks creativity and variety in his game to win a Grand Slam.

The biggest mistake Isner made in recent years is that he went to the net too often. Isner is not good at the net at all. So, he should have known this and avoid going forward the net that often. He had lost so many points on that. Where's his coach, or he doesn't have one?

This game is trash. Lot of unforced mistakes and plays so secure. This level of tennis is sooooo poor. Isner lost that match. Zverev didnt shine.
