You’re jamming a2 suited when more people showed interest pre, but only call 88 . 88 is a way better hand , if you’re going to play tournaments you have to be okay with shoving
@cjpanadero349
@cjpanadero349 2 жыл бұрын
this was painful to watch. you turn open ended with second pair and fold to a min raise after the flop was checked around??? stick to cash games. thats an easy call/re-jam or more likely a jam pre.

In the A2 hand, there was a lot of limp in callers. Hands like 22, 76, 87, 98, T9, JT, J9, Q9, QT, QJ, K9, KT, KJ, A2, A3, A4, etc. Now A2 is ahead of that range and even the hands in that range beating A2, like 22, A3, A4, A5, are probably not gonna call 22 bb's all in preflop against a semi tight Wolfgang. Wolfgang was semi bluff shove squeeze scooping shove scooping, stealing all the limp ins with 20 bb's, with A2 suited. He can be called ahead of KQ, etc, and he has flush, wheel straight possibilities if called where he behind. And the AQ that called him wasn't a limp in caller, it was either the SB, BB, so Wolfgang, unluckily ran into AQ on the blinds. There is a extremely low chance that anybody is limping in calling with a monster hand, and unlikely to be called beat by a limper, and unlikely to run into a hand that would call him on the blinds. 83% of the time, his A2 shove will scoop 9k to 17k in limp ins + blinds. Also it's not like he is making that kind of move a lot. It was a calculated, good move that unluckily ran into AQ on blinds. I have made a living in tournaments occasionally, uncommonly, successfully making moves like that. About the 88 hand where folded to a minraise. 1. We don't know the table, player dynamics, and the player minraising may have been a NIT. 2. There was a K on flop, and on the turn the check minraise is a semi slowplay semi strong, better then 88 move. 3. If he calls minraise with 88, there is about at least a 67% chance he is BEHIND, BEAT. 4. If he does call with 88, unless he hits set of 8's he is not likely improving, and not likely to improve to set. 5. If he does call with 88, there is a good chance that villain will double barrel river, and if villain does, your 88 likely beat, and so is a fold. 6. 7k may not seem like much of a minraise, and a razor thin value call on river with 88, may not seem like much, but he had a SMALL STACK, if he calls he is likely beats and is SPEWING, LEAKING chips from his already SMALL STACK. He wolf needed to fold, preserve his stack size for better spots to make moves, etc. 7. Now if Wolf would have had a mid to big stack, then the minraise could be ok to speculatively call, reevaluate river. But Wolf was not in a position to do that with a SMALL STACK. 8. Just TOO MANY WAYS for 88 to be beat based on preflop, postflop play, etc. The middle pair + open ended 13% to make straight draw, was a good 16k semi bluff, given villains slowplay, seeming weakness. Given that your supposed to do that some of the time vs that. Villain was SLOWPLAYING on a very wet, coordinated, connected, drawy board, and greatly risked getting beat by a theoretically possible draw that could make a straight or flush to beat them. It's right to think that nobody would be stupid enough to do that, and that no slowplaying happening, and that should be a good spot to semi bluff there. Unluckily for Wolf, someone was stupidly slowplaying, and he didn't make his straight. These are right plays. I play lots of tournaments, and I cash about 38% of tournaments, 19% to 29% ROI, and was coached to play this way by Harrington on Hold Em, 2+2 Poker forums, and Shaun Deeb, and my other coaches. Wolf played these hands right. TT was a borderline 50/50 call/fold. If had been shorter stacked, would have been a call. Wolf 3 betted TT, and was 4 bet shoved all in on. 50/50 he is beat/ahead if call there. Also there is this principle called the GAP CONCEPT, which says you can, should raise, shove wider, and call tighter, because with a raise or shove, you can have fold equity, can be folded to, but with a call, there is no, zero fold equity, thus your calling range should be tighter then your raising, shoving range. Wolf you played at least semi ok. Better luck next time.

@@mikehickmanvloggamessingin3604 so what's the point of betting 88 there if you cant call a min raise with a open ended straight draw? Instead just checking back and if they bet river we can bluff catcher with the same amount of bet on turn ? That's terrible play with 88 dont cover it up dude. And that's a2 is a 50/50 shove given the table limping. An average tournament player would call that shove with even small pocket pair. I would rather shove there with a8/a9o than a2s cause u can block 88/99 and can have a 50/50 flip with smaller pair.

20 seems way too small for pocket kings. Even if you get no action, i feel like you must get rid of the limpers. Thats low enough for pocket 2-9 to call and the 7s and 8s would immediately destroy the kings based on the flop. imo, i would double that all day long. Then the following bets are kinda odd, 25 to 15?

Vs a semi small, standard 3 x preflop raise, and vs a small 3 bet by non NIT players, and non super LAG players, 88 out of position is a ok, semi drawing, semi speculative call preflop, and not a leak from a small stack. Have to play 88, etc, as can't wait for 99 to AA, AK, AQ, etc Not calling or playing 88 out of position is too NITTY.

ok wolf i gave here's a tip well two tips. first, get out of the cash game mindset!! u will never be a successful tournament player if u keep thinking like that. this is a separate animal and must be treated as such. secondly, here's something to consider: add up the blinds and ante lets say its 1k-2k plus 500. so we have 3.5. now times that by ten. 35k is the total. so if your stack is 35k and sometimes a little higher is okay too but 35k or less, u must shove all in preflop on any hand u decide to play! this will be difficult for your opponents to call unless they have a premium or out chip you by a gazillion! you should think like this and be considering were you are at chip wise compare to the blinds at all times. also, when you opponent is shoving preflop is he doing the same. i think folding the eights to min raise was a mistake. id prefer a jam giving that u added more outs. a min raise doesnt necessary means he super strong so jamming there will make him condsider his weak king which is what i think he may have had like k-8 or something. do not like the pocket tens fold. very hard to be dealt a preminum so when u do im never folding preflop there heads up unless my opponent inadvertantly show me pocket queens which he most certainly didnt have. had he said ace-king i would have been more incline to believe. there are reasons for this. well anyway, good luck on future to;urnaments. the only way to get better is play more of them.

I agree with some to a lot what you are saying there. I semi agree that the 88 hand is either a shove or fold. If the TT was calling a open all in shove or a 3 bet All in shove then yes semi easy call, you have to call. But vs a 4 bet all in shove, calling with TT is more complicated. If the player is loose, then TT, easy call. If player is moderate, then a moderate call. If player is tight then about a 50/50 call/ fold with TT, as opposing players 4 bet shove range is 99, TT, JJ, QQ, KK, AA, AK, AQ suited, etc. So Wolf's TT fold, can be good or bad, depending on opposing player. Sans more info like opposing players tightness, or lack thereof, then it's about a 50/50 call/fold, and about 50/50 that beat/ahead if call.. Everything you said I agree with. I think Wolf played at least semi ok, and he is better then Rampage at tournaments, comparable to Next Gen, and comparable to Close2broke, others. Agree he needs to play more tournaments, practice, to get better at tournament. And Wolf has a lot of potential to be a good tournament player. And your right that cash and tournaments take different mindsets like not betting 1/3 pot vs draws, and instead betting Pot vs draws, etc, and many other things.

His play in the 2 tournaments was at least semi ok. And it's ok to take occasional shots. And he does normally stay within good bankroll management. And he is a way better tournament player then Rampage. And he wasn't punting like rampage. But he needs to be careful that Rampage's tournament punts don't rub off on him.
