Absolutely gorgeous!! The desk as a table I'm not quite sold on as not keen on the slot for wires in its surface, but apart from that it's gorgeous!
@socialjusticejewelry
@socialjusticejewelry Жыл бұрын
I feel the same way about the table not sold on it. I would think if you were seated on either side of the storage leg, you can't get close enough to the table to eat without bumping your knee or getting your legs in some uncomfortable position. Not a seat to sit for a long time to eat, chat and hang. The cord slot also seems like a hole for crumbs. Hope I am wrong or that they find a similarly shaped and sized dining table if I am not.
@andreamalik2961
@andreamalik2961 Жыл бұрын
@Social Justice Jewelry agree with you. I actually feel a longer rectangular table would make the space feel wider too. As it is, most of the bench wouldn't get used & as you say, you can't actually sit close to the right side of the desk & couldn't put a place setting there as the wire socket circle is raised. It looks pretty but it isn't practical at all.
@TamarLitvot
@TamarLitvot Жыл бұрын
@@andreamalik2961 for small gatherings (4 people) it will be fine. It looks great but I agree that a bigger table would be more practical - maybe with rounded ends like the desk rather than a rectangle with corners. But I’m reminding myself of when I lived in a smallish apartment with my not-yet husband when we were much younger, and any gathering we had of more than 5 people ended up in the living room.

Everything looks gorgeous, but I do agree about the issues with using the desk as the table. I haven’t looked lately because I don’t have any more room for furniture, but I feel like article would have had a better choice for an actual dining table. It just seems like it’s gonna be really hard to get around those legs and I don’t like that hole in the top. That said, it’s a gorgeous transformation!
@rebecarendell
@rebecarendell Жыл бұрын
I'm the same regarding the desk - I thought that the bulky legs would make it uncomfortable to sit at in most positions, and don't like the cord recess. However, the couple can obviously test it out and if they need to make that one change to the space to make it work for them, it's still a fabulous transformation 🙂

agree, not feeling the desk, the end of the table with the storage doesn't seat people nicely and the hole at the top for cords to run down makes it really look like a desk. Great color for the desk against the dark wall color. I too like a room to be saturated in color and would have painted all 3 walls. Great plan and still looks awesome!

I appreciate how Alexandra is an intuitive designer. When’s she’s sure about a design choice, like the seat cushion formation, she’s decisive. But if she’s unsure, like with the paint color, she’s confident enough to be deliberative, reflective, and take counsel from her builder and design team. #professional

this is STUNNING! it's such a gorgeous makeover. But i do think it deserves an actual dining table. While the desk table is very nice, it does look more like a desk table than a dining table. I think adding a more rustic dining table to this space would have completely elevated the space even more.

Good point. It would likely have been too expensive to make real stand alone cushions with removable covers. But this is a rental for a young couple who might be moving on to something more permanent in a few years, so maybe that doesn’t matter.

The space is beautiful. I think it would be really frustrating to sit at that "table" though when there is such little leg room!!! I think only about one person will have adequate leg space. That seems like an oversight. But I think the way it came together is absolutely stunning - the scones combined with statement pendant looks so high end.

The back wall looks good. I like it. But (had the same with the small bedroom), all the focus and energy goes into that one back wall and the other (side) walls are neglected and empty. And I think the table looks nice, but it is not really practical with the cupboard underneath it. You could sit with two people opposite each other and it would be okay, but more people and you would not know where to put your legs. It is not only about the look.

Really beautiful. Very fresh, very clean, very interesting.The only thing I would do is add some sort of translucent or semi opaque bottom to the large hanging fixture because when you are seated at the table you are going to stare into bright light bulbs & I would want to soften that so that you get the illumination, but you aren't looking up at the bulbs.The other thing I might have considered is adding a 2nd top to the dining table as you can see the cord management portal on the pedestal end of the "table"/desk. a white quartz top would allow you to carry the white of the walls, the upholstery on the bench & the sheepskin throw on the dining chairs onto the table. The quartz would also preclude the need for trivets, coasters, etc. as it is more or less bomb proof.

They can add a 1/4" thick, larger panel (could even be hinged to be foldable for stowing) for the table, for those once-a-year, large family events. I had a big table, used it only once or twice a year + had to battle all year for it not to turn into a repository-of-stuff surface plane.

So so sooooo beautiful, elegant and practical. The color, bench and the back wall of the bench is great. The table, wow, so unique with the two chairs owesome choice. The two identical shelves on the side of the door looks so good. Small space with lots of storage options genius!

This makeover is amazing. The surpise expression on the couple faces was great. They really loved it. Love the table because of the storage and the color of the accent wall. Great job guys.

Wow!! Amazing transformation (yet again). Two things I've learned through the years about taper candles...shouldn't sit on shelves with a shelf above to catch fire. I know it sounds like DUH, but who konws who might not realize and light them. Second tip...always light the wick of tapers and blow them out to give the illusion (and warmth) that they have been lit.

I wish Graham had created a wooden plug for that open grommet on the desk/dining table. And you could’ve painted it that beautiful green gray color that’s on the walls and it. And then just tapped it into the open hole and that would’ve added an interesting point to the table and tie it into the space.

I think this is my favorite space you’ve ever posted on your channel!!! It is amazing the way it totally transformed this space! Alexandra, you have put together the best team. Each of you have strengths & together you are more than the sum of your parts. Great job wowing us project after project, Team AG!

Awesome. Like the small bedroom you did, I like that the side walls are light, clutter free and give such a good contrast to keep the room from feeling too closed in. The use of the desk as a dining table is unique and I think the chairs angled just right work for dining. The lighting is perfect and finally the bench, beadboard, shelf and color just right.

The makeover looks absolutely stunning. The place was completely transformed and I loved it. The finished product is an inspiration. I wished I had more space in my home to make every one of your transformations happen iside my home. You make magic! On the practical side of things, this time I did not like the "table" choice. As a desk, it is the best. As a dinning table people will have trouble with the legspace. The color and wood texture are wonderful, but that round storage leg doesn't help one bit. I love you team AG, but that "table" is a no,no in this case, although I understand that you have to work with what they give you to work with. Other than that, it was wonderful

Hey AG Team! I love how this bench situation worked out, it's really such a statement in this nook! Decoration as usual on point! Love the colors, love that it still looks bright and cozy even with the dark wall. The desk/table has an interesting shape but I would not have used it as a dining table for multiple reasons: they wanted clearly to host family and friends around the table and sit around it comfortably for hours even after dinner (as she said) and this table feels not really comfortable to sit around, you can place 4 people in with plates etc and maybe have some space left for fooed. Plus there is this plug outlid which somehow breaks the wow effect as it becomes obvious that it is not a real dining table. Also another thing is that you mentionned that her books would have a moment in the space too which they don't. So overwall of course excellent handsman craft and designing job, only funtionnality of the table and wishes of the "client", no :/ Other thing: love how you do the problem solving, you guys seems to be just so chill about it and go around things with lots of respect and fun I really love that for you! you seem to be an excellent working team together
