Angelo Debarre réunit ses amis pour un hommage à la culture des gens du voyage. Depuis Django Reinhardt, dont on fête les 100 ans, et jusqu'à aujourd'hui, cette musique riche fait vibrer plusieurs générations. Sa force est de toujours se réinventer. Ce bel hommage prend place autour du "feu de bois", dans un décor de caravane (décor créé pour le spectacle). Il nous parle d'hier et de demain en nous rappelant le fabuleux héritage laissé par Django : père spirituel du jazz manouche.

Quelle belle musique ! Elégance, raffinement, joie...La culture du peuple tzigane a beaucoup à nous apporter. Pour ceux qui sont tintinophiles, rappellez-vous l'émotion que ressent Tintin, dans "Les bijoux de la Castafiore", lorsqu'il entend de loin le chants des tziganes que le capitaine Haddock a invités dans le parc du château de Moulinsart.

Idem pour le grand génie compositeur hongrois Franz Liszt qui était attiré par la musique Tzigane et manouche et en a transcrit un grand nombre au piano. Une musique très riche.

Love how it starts off at night and as the concert progresses, as more and more musicians enter, the setting gradually illuminates to represent the sunrise. Wonderful all around.

This is so lovely....... I saved it years ago and re-listening on a sleepless night in NY ...... worrying about what’s going to happen this year. I stumbled across this concert while noodling about on KZfaq. Never heard of this guy I am ashamed to say. There are many fine musicians in the Anglophone world but my God what a pity we have not got more exposure to these guys in the Francophone world they are just stunning! I tried 3 times to get out of this concert but couldn't! it just got better and better. Hypnotic beauty beyond description! Thank you so much to all the artists and production company that made this possible.

google hard separates by country, region and language. it is really a pain. I only discover stuff like this because I am multi lingual and had a starting advantage. You found it only due to heavy interest in all things guitar. The average public in the Anglophone world will never even have a chance to come across this. Tell all your friends...

Although I am trying hard as a mature student to learn to read, write and speak the French language, I will reply in English since you are multi lingual. English and Irish are my main languages with a little Latin and student quality French, but it is getting better. I am a one man "sales rep" sharing anything interesting or beautiful I come across in French culture, with my mostly English speaking friends here in Ireland. I actually came across this Legend of the guitar while following another beautiful singer, "Tatiana Eva Marie" I think she may be French Canadian. She sings with among others a band called "The Avalon Jazz Band", in French also I think Italian and English. It was the songs she sings in French that hooked me into following them, especially the Johnny Halliday number "Souvenirs, souvenirs". From Avalon I picked up links on KZfaq to many more Francophone musicians and this is where I discovered the wonderful Angelo Debarre. It is a very rich seam of wonderful singers and musicians that we do not really hear that often in the Anglophone media. So it is a pleasure to share him "Angelo" and others with my friends. Il y a les mauvais artistes qui profitent du nom de leur père. Il y a les artistes authentiques qui se trouvent avoir un père doué. Et il y a les imbéciles et/ou jaloux qui préfèrent assimiler les seconds aux premiers. Thomas Dutronc est un excellent guitariste, et cela ne lui ôte rien de son mérite d'avoir un père célèbre.

Angelo et sa guitare, c'est l'osmose totale entre l'homme et l'instrument. Ecoutez comment il la fait chanter et combien elle sonne sous ses doigts. Difficile de résister à une musicalité aussi exceptionnelle ! Chapeau l'artiste !

I had the very good fortune to see Angelo Debarre and Ludovic Beier twice in person: in Laguna Beach California, and at the Django Festival in Samois-sur-Seine. Both, fantastic performances, as this one is.

Man! This concert was just wonderful. Angelo DeBarre displays effortless mastery and the Accordion (accordina) player is fabulous! But it's pointless to single out anyone. They are all beyond great!

Many people listen to music with their eyes. For them, the looks of Mr. Debarre make him a legitimate practicing artist in the Reinhardt school. It's impossible, with your eyes or ears, not to recognize this man as a brilliant artist, and a stunning talent.

jazz lives in Europe... bravo. In 1971 from the States I hitchiked through France & Spain w/ a Martin D 28 guitar which I was always too embarassed to take out of it's case and these guys are the reason why...True confessions.

i hear ya ... the technical virtuosity of players on the gypsy jazz circuit in Europe is pretty much unparalleled anywhere else. Sure, the Yanks and Brits have some really good, even great players, and Tommy Emmanuel out of Oz - but I have not seen the equal of Angelo or a Bireli or a Stochelo or a Jimmy. Lots of musicians can play fast at this tempo but not with the downstroke (AKA gypsy rest stroke) technique.

Une très belle musique pour une petite nuit comme pour un jolie matin soleil ou en pas (pluis froid)restera toujours l'a dans ma mémoire c'est magnifique 👍

Un énorme guitariste un homme de grande conviction musicale un homme qui mérite la prospérité il fait parti des plus grand c'est un grandiose tant il est magnifique. son interprétation dépasse l'entendement, lorsque je ne comprends pas je m'interroge.

Je reconnais "Le Vieux Tsigane" dès les premières notes. Angelo Debarre exprime sur ce thème la quintessence du jazz Manouche : sensibilité, virtuosité, improvisation. Et avec Franck Cassenti aux manettes c'est génial !
