I remember six years ago when Elf first started coming out at Walmart, they seemed like a really humble brand with really good prices. It seems like the more popular they get the more expensive they are but the equality isn’t going up. I think the fame went to their heads.

sure, ELF doesn't make a new item every single week of the year, but they MUST have new stuff since last year that they could include?? hell, they even have a whole section on their website marked new makeup and skincare, they could use their own website as reference.

To be fair they were still advertising last year's advent calendar well into summer as a clearance item. With how much they were advertising it would make sense they had a lot left.

I watched someone else unbox a 24 pc Elf "mystery box" and it was just last year's advent calendar (and apparently this year's as well) which they marketed as a mystery box. Elf is full of tricks this year lol.

Just came here to say that it would be so wonderful if you made your own Advent Calendar!!! To me, you are the Advent Calandar Queen and I feel like you would know EXACTLY what the people want and what to put in it. I have always been hesitant to buy some of these Calandars because of your reviews but I would totally get one if it was yours!!!!

Fun fact: If you pull at the little colored, square part of the lip exfoliater tube, it will come off and there is a chapstick in it. (I think the same is with the lipsticks that have the same packaging, but I've never tried the lipsticks)

You should compare this year’s and last year’s “lot” numbers on the products-if the serial numbers match, they’re from the same lot, hence they are all the same age lol

Last year I bought the Yves Rocher advent calendar. I was quite disappointed that almost everything in it was travel-sized or smaller. But I wasn't too upset because while I had been using that product line for years there were many things I had not gotten the chance to try and now did. I went on their website this year too possibly purchase it again since I had a coupon. But just on a hunch I went ahead and looked at the product list. Last year I had not because I was afraid of spoilers. I'll be darned if it wasn't the exact same products with maybe one or two small variations. No thank you I'll save my money. They have hundreds of products why repeat them year to year?

I will say, though, I think E.L.F. has been holding on to those 12 day calendars for 2 years. You actually unboxed the same calendar in 2020 and 2021. They must be trying to beat Sephora for the most consecutive ones with no value.

With the exfoliator, you can pop the bottom off and there's a tiny pot of balmy stuff you can use after exfoliating! (Well, there was last time I picked one of them up, anyway.) It can be tough to get off the first time, but the produce was actually decent. Honestly, I personally like the exfoliant as well - I hate putting that stuff on from a pot, it just makes my brain cringe. 🙂

I understand the issue here !! I don’t get why you’d continue selling the same advent calendar instead of just.. marking them down after Christmas BUT don’t forget that makeup doesn’t start the shelf life until it’s opened so technically sitting for a year won’t harm the products. 🥺❤️❤️

TTM stands for trending twelve months. In accounting this is used for sales if you don’t have the full calendar year sales yet. So Elf probably used the reported sales for 9/2021 to 10/22.

I'm thinking the advent calendar thing has gotten out of hand. These things began their existence as cheap $1.00 to $2.00 items, offering 25 cheap chocolates in a variety of different shapes to easily pleased and fascinated kids counting down the exciting days to Christmas. And that made sense. No kid that likes chocolate could be disappointed. And they weren't "the gift" so much as the fun countdown to the big gift day when Santa would come adding to the magic of Christmas for kids. I'm admittedly fascinated by the concept. We all love pleasant surprises. We never grow out of that. But I think our expectations of these advent calendars are unrealistic and that adds to the abysmal nature of them. A make-up advent calendar is already a bad idea. There's only so much they can offer to a variety of customers. To be safe they offer brow pencils, eye liners, and lip glosses, and even then it's impossible to please everyone. Some love wild colors. Some love basic neutral shades. Expectations will be crushed either way. The nature of the beast means repeats every year, because makeup is basically mascara, eyeliner, brow builders, foundation, powder, blush, highlighter, eyeshadow, lipstick/gloss. That's it. They can only offer so much variation on the same old necessities of makeup. And people are doomed to be disappointed, because they will always get more value out of just going to the store, picking out what they like for themselves in full sizes at much less of a premium than it costs to be surprised by samples in an advent calendar or mystery box that are really just gimmicks. The concept is fun. The reality is not, because it's not value for money. And the value of being surprised isn't outweighed by the often unpleasantness of having discovered one has wasted their money on things they don't like or repetitive items in sample sizes sold at top dollar. And I'm not so sure there's a way around that for the company or the consumer. I'm a bit addicted to these advent videos for reasons I don't even understand, and I've yet to see a calendar for adults that hasn't proven an overpriced disappointment... be it E.L.F. or Dior. For instance, yes it's $95.00 and that's A LOT of money, but it's $95.00 for 24 items. Meaning a $3.96 item for every day. So, they give a $1.00 item (eyelash curler) one day and a $5.00 item (eye liner) the next. And it's a waste, because you may not need or want a $1.00 eyelash curler or that $5.00 eye liner. You would've probably chose to spend that $6.00 on something else. Right now Macy's is offering the usual free 7 piece gift set with $35.00 purchase of clinique complete with sales on Clinique. It's a better value for money even though the free gift offers some sample sizes and some full sizes. One's not paying for the samples as happens with advent calendars, and with their $35.00 they're getting a product of their choice at that value. For instance, Macy's is offering 2 Clinique gift sets (2 eyeshadow pallettes, 2 lipsticks, 2 lip liners, 2 eye liners, 2 makeup bags, and a sample sized face cleanser/face cream and 2 sample sized mascaras for $49.50. They say retail value is $240 but no...it's worth $49.50. You get 14 items for the $49.50 PLUS the free gift of 7 more items when one spends $35.00. That's 21 items total of a premium cosmetic for $49.50 which equals $2.36 per item. That's considerably cheaper from a Premium brand than drugstore cosmetic company ELF's advent calendars. One's even getting similar stuff...lipsticks, eyeshadow, eyeliners. At $2.36 vs $3.96 per item, it's a far better value for money, but the problem is it lacks the gimmick of surprise.

Its 1:26 am when i am watching this, monday morning. I got an advent calendar for my dog, Maggie. She really loved it. We went through the first 3 days, then when i came home from work, i found that she had gotten ahold of the calendar, and needless to say, it was destroyed and all the treats were gone!
