Almost all clubs now are more draw-biassed than older versions - this looks similar. The 13.5 head, opened to 11.5, might be a perfect gamer 2-wood for tight holes.

The question is which one would Brenda and Barbra would like probably not the mini. I like low profile clubs so I would go with a mini driver however I love hitting long straight shots. You are the man Alex.

The shaft used is not the normal flex for Etches (he should be using an X-flex), so the dispersion pattern is not accurate. I would like to see the correct shaft flex, so could see the how the mini drivers really perform in regards to the dispersion pattern. A tighter dispersion pattern is the whole purpose of going to a mini driver.

Great toe 2 toe comparison I was honestly thinking the new 300 would be ahead in distance over the original mini one. But they are very close distance wise with the original taking the upper edge on a better strike. which would leave it up to a players ability on how they strike the ball to make a choice in preference. I personally don’t like the face of the new 300 mini driver I like the blacked out face. However the rest does look pretty good.

Owned both. Gone back to my Original One. Just looks and feels better. Distance and forgiveness very similar so not worth continuing with the 300.

I needed something off the tee that I could control better, I game Cobra and had an old FlyZ fairway wood, I set the loft as low as it could go that was 13 degree and took a hybrid out of the bag, played it today and it seems to do the job, but if I could replace it with the 300 mini heading over to the golf shop, good vid

Mr. Al- I would like to see a brass weight on the sole of the club instead of a steel one, as this club is like an old 2 wood (Brassie).

Tried this driver out today but just couldn't get on with it. Spin dropped below 1200 and I was hitting everything off the course left. Swapped out for my sim to see if maybe I was just having an off day and numbers went back up to 2500 and my standard fade. Love how the driver felt and was still able to smash it out to around 305 but no matter what the taylormade rep did I just couldn't get it to stop turning over into a duck hook.

Being the 300 mini has the v-sole plate vs the original, wouldn't a diff shaft be better vs same shaft for 2 diff designed mini TM heads?

Any idea why spin was so high? Strike location? Loft? Shaft choice? Golf ball? The high spin numbers are really concerning if this driver were to replace a 460cc driver. Thanks

I would not change my original one: I also hit it occasionally from the deck on long par 5s, and I prefer the more compact head.

Bertha Mini is my favorite mini driver. I have my 14 degree set as 15 or 16 degrees and use it as my 3 Wood. It's amazing. I think I need a smaller shaft on my main driver Edit at least a year later: performance on the range did not match on the course. I used it as my 3 wood on the course once and then not again.

The other type of player who would look at this is the player who doesn't want to carry a full set about. I'd carry this and a 20degree hybrid in the sunday bag and that would be all I ever need.

They're not really fairway-finders, and they're shorter than a full driver, so why would you bother? Not sure I could fit this in my bag, it wouldn't get a berth over the 3 wood or the driver.

These are cool but I would just go to golf bidder or 2ndswing and buy an older titleist/taylormade driver with a higher loft something less than 460 cc and 10.5 or higher loft. Save yourself 150-200 bucks

I was swinging much better that day and wasn’t carrying an elbow injury. I personally would go Big Tour if I could find a spot for it. However, many people could benefit from these clubs

@@alexetchesgolf Cheers Alex, I'm about to buy a big tour based on your review, looks like an awesome club, however, the 300 looks nice aswell. My thinking was, the Cobra is massive off the tee and hitable from the deck, the 300 looks great off the tee, but is it hitable from the deck. So for me, the Cobra is best of both worlds I think.

This is a niche comment, but if they ever remake the film Robin Hood prince of thieves, I want to see Al playing the role of friar tuck. Any time Al does that “it’s toe to toe, let’s go” up close to the camera with his face scrunched up, he reminds me of one of the last scenes in the movie where friar tuck has just married Robin and Marion and says it’s time for the party to start…. The mini seems to be an cure looking for a problem. Personally I think a player would be better off hitting a low lofted 3 wood. But, that’s just my crap opinion.

Visually and statistically, the original one crushed the mini 300. Even sounded better and looked like you hit more fairways. Curious why this wasn’t expressed, did TaylorMade give you the 300 club?

Interesting analysis - it didn't crush it. Much prefer the new one and hit it better on the course which is really what matters. I get the club to test, then it goes back.

Find more fairways with the mini?! You had 2 shots greater than 20 yards offline with the mini, but none over 18 with the original, and the overall accuracy was better with the original. Dude?! Yeahhhhhhh, NO!
