Groot is not the only one from his species, and like Niels2091 says, Thor can understand him right from the start without knowing him, because he learned his language in school, so that theory is kinda bullshit. Maybe something more true would be that people really close to Groot could understand what he says without learning his language, but they aren't the only ones that can understand him.

@@ZirakFFM Gamora barely interacted with him in this movie so that doesn't make much sense either. And if all it took was to be "part of the family" like Gunn said, then Yondu should've been able to understand him at the end of Vol. 2 when he was welcomed and was revealed to be such a dad to Peter.

What got me was Nebula sobbing under her breath when she hears Rocket over the comms, the cold robotic killer expressing raw sympathetic emotion for the first time, gets me every damn time. Nearly lost it in the cinema that first time I saw it, Karen Gillan was so damn good

All of Nebula's emotional scenes got me in this film. Her hearing rockets voice got me the most though.

I think nebula and iron man spent more time together.

That have about 100 near death fake outs that they affect you when you first see it because you think they might actually die but then the second time it’s just like “why are you doing this Gunn? 1 is enough. But these are too many fake outs for one film that it’s kinda pointless if no one actually gets killed off” so the fake outs became quite annoying & felt cheap to get a reaction out of us (the audience)

I always found it weird that everyone singled out that one moment. Many things that happened throughout the films would change the outcome immediately, but everyone was like, it's Quill's fault.

I keep pointing that out to people. The Endgame victory was the queen sacrifice. They *had* to lose that battle to win the war. Strange's one scenario was the only one that eliminated Thanos, his army, *and* the Black Order as threats.

100% this. We see how close Thanos comes to getting the gauntlet again in Endgame even with every Marvel hero throwing everything they had at him. The idea that if Quill hadn't hit Thanos and they got the glove off that they would have won is ludicrous.

@@Eloketh Like, even if they got the gauntlet off, Mantis couldn't keep him subdued forever, he was *going* to keep going after the stones, and even if they killed him, he's still got a fanatically devoted *army* led by his "children" who can still do an unbelievable amount of damage before they're put down. Calm down. “God tier” is a bit much. If you said that about Vol 1 or 2 then I’d agree but this one was just decent & is the least interesting out of the 3. You should say “in my opinion” at the end of your statement. The fake out near deaths were so annoying & cheap to get a reaction out of the audience, one time was enough, but it was too many for one movie

Also, great that it was a personal story with no galaxy-shaking stakes. Just people who've come to love each other fighting for each other.

GOTG 2 is far and away the weakest of the trilogy. And it's not even close. They didn't get better with each one. 1 was great 2 dipped in it's story telling. 3 came back strong. And didn't disappoint.

The first act with the inclusion of the sovereign is also a rather pointless and odd use of a plot device just to get us to ego. The sovereign have no real purpose other than that. As well as some weird jokes about their video game like military style. Ego posed nearly zero threat to anyone especially with Peter gaining cosmic celestial powers. Ego is not a better villain than Ronan. Ronan isn't exactly top tier either, but he posed a significantly larger threat to the guardians than ego ever did. Ronan was actually responsible for killing one of the guardians! A feat ego cannot claim. As far as heart? I'd argue the opposite. One character sacrificing himself in a sort of redemption arc isn't enough. Especially with the odd choice to have Drax seem to be consistently overly mean to mantis throughout the film. Almost as if he's bullying her the whole time. There's a distinct lack of heart there. Especially when you contrast their dynamic in the Christmas special and guardians 3 where their relationship is more of a give and take brother/sister like thing. Very different. Guardians 1 and guardians 3 are superior films. Most people are just so enamoured with the Guardians characters and the hype around James Gunn. Maybe they don't want to admit James Gunn isn't perfect or that these characters could possibly be involved in a weak story. But hey, that's just my take on things.

All movies have plot devices to one extent or another. It's not inherently a bad thing. Adam Warlock is a plot device if you consider that him injuring Rocket was needed to move the story forward. It's good then that neither The Sovereign or Adam Warlock are the main villains in either movie. "Guardians 1 and guardians 3 are superior films." Oh, I suppose that settles it, he has spoken. "Almost as if he's bullying her the whole time." This is the only example you provide of supposed lack of heart. This is the movie that started that relationship between Drax and Mantis, there's certainly some serious moments in there between all the jokes about Mantis. The developing bond between Gamora and Nebula, becoming sisters. Yondu wasn't particularly likeable in the first movie but the second one puts everything he did into context and by the end most people cry for him. He really was his real daddy. The final few minutes of Guardians 2 truly is unmatched. - The "Father & Son" song by Cat Stevens and all the magic happening on screen before and during is just so well done. The first hug between Gamora & Nebula, actually motivated by Peters eulogy, the devastating eulogy Peter gives about Yondu, the "unspoken thing" between Gamora and Quill, finally being spoken. Rocket mourning the loss of his friend in Yondu, which develops in the movie and teaches him more about himself since they're very similar, even why he stole the batteries, and why he steals things in general throughout all the movies. The ravager funeral where Yondu earned the respect of his former people. Countless other little moments throughout. Listen to Yondu, use your heart, not your head. So moving. Unmatched.

No.. not at all Chill out dude, I dunno you may have missed my last line in the comment where I said "hey those are just my thoughts" It's just my opinion. And I was explaining what it is about it that I don't enjoy. Now if you can find enjoyment in the film that's great! You're allowed to like the movie. But I don't enjoy it nearly as much as the 1st one nor the 3rd. That's not to say it's a bad movie. Because it isn't bad. But the unevenness in the story and tone mixed with an uninteresting villain (claim to fame of MCU films) among other nit piks of mine, makes it rank low for me in my MCU rankings. Yes there sure are things to like about the film even for me. But they don't elevate it very high.

Judy Greer played Scott Lang's ex- wife in the Ant Man movies. The woman who voiced Floor was also in the 1st Guardians movie. The Ravager, Mainframe, who was originally voiced by Miley Cyrus in Guardians 2 was changed to Tara Strong who is the voice of Miss Minutes in Loki. The Human-Kangaroo person played Lemar/Battlestar's mother in Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The woman who played Recorder Vim also played Jessica Jones' mother.
