I love the moment when Bucky is helping Sam fix the boat, and Sam asks "why didnt you use the other arm" -- in regards to using his regular hand to fix a leak. And Bucky just says "I'm right handed" and it kills me every time. 90+ years of being a bionic super soldier and you forget to use the robot arm to turn faucets and open jars.

Absolutely. When Walker made the comment about "knowing" the soldiers that needed therapy, it said so much...about Walker's mindset, how desperately HE needs therapy, how the military fails soldiers with mental health issues, and exactly why Sam is perfect as Captain America.

Remember what Erskine said about the super solder serum that it enhances everything about the person, "Good becomes great, bad becomes worse." Carly and John wasn't evil at their harts, but both had bad baggage that the serum "enhanced". Carly had a desire to fix what was wrong at any cost, and that got turned into blind fanaticism. John had combat PTSD that until the scrum he had a handle on. In the comics, John is an anti-hero. It looks like he will be such in the MCU as well.

Bucky catching that pipe that Karlie threw like a spear is a call back to him saying he always knows his surroundings. Which in itself calls back to Bucky being able to catch the Shield when Steve threw it in a Winter Soldier. And the mask that Sharon wears that makes her look like a man. Is the same mass that Natasha wore in Winter Soldier when she pretended to be one of the council. It's important cuz it does come up again in the future

The thing about Walker is that we're really meant to hate him. it's why you feel such strong hate to him in the beginning - he played the part well. but you are also able to empathize with him quite a bit, and he played the character incredibly well from start to finish. Great reaction buddy! This show was really good and I didn't really appreciate how necessary it was until the end. But in hindsight, all of the characters in-universe were mourning Steve, and that mimicked our mourning as fans, and so going straight from Steve to Sam without addressing that grieving wouldn't have worked. By seeing Sam and Bucky go through their emotions and see Walker (scrub cap) fail at the task, we go through all those emotions as well so that we end up in episode six with Sam flying in the window showing off his new Captain America suit yelling "Yeah buddy!" and everyone in and out of universe is ready for a Captain America that isn't Steve. In the comics, Bucky also took a turn as Captain America, but to borrow a phrase from Black Widow, MCU Bucky has "too much red in his ledger" and he knows it and is not interested. It's HEAVILY implied at the end of Endgame that Steve and Bucky had that conversation BEFORE Steve left to return the stones, and that Bucky agreed that Sam was the right person. It's very subtle, but if you watch that scene over again, Steve says bye to Bucky, but doesn't say bye to anybody else, implying they both knew he wasn't coming back, and Bucky gives a subtle nod to Sam and tells him to go over to the bench where old Steve is. I think that whole scene has even more weight behind it after the events of this series. Also, Val is obviously recruiting her own team, and you'll see her again. That team is the Thunderbolts, and that movie is coming out in 2024. There isn't going to be a season 2, but these characters WILL show up again in the next Captain America film, Captain America: New World Order (coming 2024) that will pick up where this leaves off. Eli Bradley (Isiah's grandson) is likely going to show up again, there's a theme of introducing important teenage relatives and proteges that isn't by accident. I'm also really interested to see what they do with Sharon Carter - she had stood up to Hydra when we first met her so to go from that to Shadow Broker is quite the change for her that begs for an explanation. Like you said, I also really like how there are these more empathetic villains that have a decent point even if they are going about it all wrong. I also feel the whole recovery "after Thanos' blip" hits different post-pandemic which is an interesting coincidence. Onwards to Loki, and warning: your gooch isn't prepared! Cheers

I have to agree on Sharon going into power broker mode deosn't make sense. And I think the higher ups have taken note of how much people are dissatisfied with her character. I've read somewhere that they are scaling her character back from where she is now because so many people were confused and upset at how far she has fallen.
@FranciscoHOS
@FranciscoHOS Жыл бұрын
@@Iceman-135 I mean it was explained that she felt betrayed after being exiled from the United States. All the Avengers essentially forgot about her. I do think that they should've showed more of that progression (or regression?), but maybe we'll see that in a separate project with her. I think Marvel approached her character the wrong way. I think her as the Power Broker would've been okay if she was more of an anti-hero, someone who's willing to help the "good side" but no longer cares about the boundaries that limit what we consider good in the MCU. I think this character was just destined to not do well considering how she was portrayed in Civil War. idk
@matthewhobbs81
@matthewhobbs81 Жыл бұрын
I've often wondered if her becoming the power broker was based on a resentment of Steve. The last time we see her in the films, he leaves her with a goodbye kiss. Then endgame, we all see he lives the life he always wanted with peggy, but in sharrons eyes, she possibly felt that that kiss only meant he was kissing a Carter, and taking a back seat to aunt Peggy didn't sit well with her

I definitely agree with what you said about the show being more about character arcs, the Flag Smashers plot can get iffy at times, but the growth Sam, Bucky and Walker go through are probably why this is my favourite MCU Show. Hell, even Karli has moments where you go "okay, I get WHY she would fight this fight" and at the end as she dies, you see she's just an 18-19-year-old kid who went too far in hopes of giving those forgotten by the government a fighting chance. Sam coming to accept that he wasn't chosen by Steve to be just a black Cap but instead because he's someone who shares the ideals of what America and someone who defends it SHOULD be in a world where his blackness is seen as a disadvantage was so heartwarming. Sam has always been kind and compassionate as well as honest, HE just needed to accept that that's what Steve and later Bucky saw in him. Them giving Bucky, a character who has been in the pits for almost 10 years, and Sam, someone we barely knew from the movies, time to grow and come to care for one another was fun to watch...plus they have such a great dynamic

I'm personally not a fan of all the little jokes in the MCU movies and shows, if it's meant to be straight up Comedy like Thor Ragnarok and Love & Thunder it's fine, but it really annoys me that as soon as theres an emotional moment it's immediately undercut with a joke. I personally would've liked the show more if it did even more of a deep dive into the psychology of Bucky because seeing him deal with his struggles from being The Winter Soldier was the most interesting part of the series in my opinion. But that's just my view and probably why I like DC particularly Batman more because I like dark stuff but also love to really dive into the psyche of Superheroes.

The finale is such a beautiful episode, Sam officially becoming Captain America, Cap’s speech, Sam doing his part for Isaiah so no one forgets what he’s done, Bucky finally getting closure on anyone he hurt as the Winter Soldier, The Winter Soldier call backs to the finale as well as the rest of the series, finally getting to see who Walker will actually be as the U.S. Agent & Sharon Carter showing her true colors! I can’t wait to see you get confused as hell for Loki haha

Actually Sam is now officialy Captain America. His friend to which he gave the wings (i forgot his name) will become the new Falcon like in the comics. The young lad with Isaiah will become Patriot from the comics as well, he is part from The Young Avengers. And Val is basically evil version of Nick Fury. She's assembling a team from anti-heroes called Thunderbolts. Marvel are officialy developing a movie for them. The team is formed by - Red Guardian, Yelena Belova (Nat's sister) , Taskmaster, Ghost from Ant-Man, Bucky, US Agent and Thunderbolt Ross aka Red Hulk. The only surprise is that Zemo is not part of it, cuz in the comics he's the leader. Also I loved the series and can't wait for you to watch the other projects! :)

@@Maratonkata I'm speaking strictly on the MCU versions of the characters. What they did to Taskmaster is beyond disgraceful. Like I have no words for how bad this version is. And Ghost? She was boring as hell, her motivation was retarded, only semi redeeming quality was her phasing ability was pretty cool but that's it. She wasn't even a real villain. Like all she had to do was work with Hank and they could have gotten her help from jump.

The opening scene of this episode is what occurred some days before the end credit of Black Panther, where Bucky looked at peace, when Shuri came to get him from his tent. The opening scene of episode 4 is just soooo damn good. Sebastian Stan really did an amazing performance. Like everyone, I was shocked and in disbelief watching John smear someone's blood on the Captain America shield. However, after some days later, I had to revisit that episode. 1.Karli and her super powered group was plotting to murder John. 2. Had John not taken the serum, both he and Lemar would have ended up dead. 3. The guy he killed was yelling that it wasn't him that killed Lemar, but again, he was fine with plotting to help kill John, whom he thought was just a regular guy...knowing he could kill him easier with his super powers. It's wrong to kill, but how much sympathy did he deserve? 4. John has 2 medal of honors, because he was on the frontlines. More than once. Seeing the traumatic terrors and having to commit some of your own, to protect your fellow soldiers, leaves a permanent stain in your mind that you can never wash clean. Those horrors seep into your dna and become a part of you. Bucky has lived it 2 lifetimes over. Now add in the fact that the government is putting pressure on him to make them look good, especially after Zemo escaping on his watch...and by two men who are supposed to be on the same side as you. He tried a few times to build a bridge with them, and they flat out treated him cold. It was emotional for them that Steve was replaced, but that was on the government, not John's fault. Like Steve, John just wanted to do his job and get results done. Both Sam and Bucky are military men, who have seen the ugliness of war also. You'd figure they'd at least give some common ground respect for that, and not treat him like some kid straight out of Basic training, who just put on the suit. The government cared more about making themselves an obedient human weapon (since they couldn't control Steve) than about John's mental health. John and Lemar grew up together. They survived all their military tours together. And because he was protecting John, Lemar was murdered right in front of John. 5. The serum messes with your mind. If you are not right in the head, it will increase that side of you. John has major ptsd. Did you notice how he twitched a lot after taking the serum? Compile all those elements, and John was a powder keg ready to blow. 6. John is a Captain who is used to being in charge. But he needed to learn that the new position won't be as by the book as his military career. There are different ways to get cooperative results. Not everyone falls in line with what he does, even though he got a false security in the government having his back. To him...he's at war. Him killing that super powered soldier of Karli's, is no different than fighting a dangerous war criminal.

Dude, that speech by Sam at the end…that was the best part of this show. I had chills too, and I was crying by the time he finished talking. Such a perfect delivery on the actor’s part, too. Sam and Bucky were just playing "catch" and Sam was training. One thing I like about this show and the Flag Smashers. Is that you kind of see how some of these extremist organizations could have not only gotten started but also grown to large levels. You see that the other flag Smashers are not really gelling with Karly's plans. But they keep going along and eventually the true goal gets lost and they don't even stop the question the brutality

That last scene with Isaiah Bradley was incredible, his character and how the actor portrayed the emotion was a standout in the series for me. I really really hope that him and his grandson are seen again, I think his grandson could be the new partner of Sam Wilson’s Captain America like the howling commandos were for Steve Rogers, with Isaiah being a mentor figure to them both (I know Sam is an adult and a veteran and hero, but I like their interactions)

Yo Alex! Loving this series so much! After Loki and Black Widow, if you decide to watch “What If” as well, which I recommend, there was an episode that was cut from Season 1 but will be included with Season 2 next year. I won’t say what it is but there’s a point where you’ll say “hang on, when did this happen? Did I miss something?” And it’s referring to the delayed episode. I’ve seen multiple reactors get very confused at that part so hopefully this helps avoid some of that!

Oh yeah, I love everything about this show. The pacing was great, the overall plot was amazing, the characters and their arcs- also Marvel knows how to sprinkle in comedy without it taking away from the action. One of my favorite parts about this show was bringing Isiah Bradley to the light, I think it was a really great motivator and it made it so much more special to see Sam finally take the title Steve gave to him. Not just to live up to something a good friend saw in him but to be something more to the people he ultimately represents by being who he is in the public eye. I also appreciate the montage at the end. One of the best Marvel tv finales out of all the shows so far. I can’t wait for Captain America 4 coming in a year or two, Sam/ Anthony Mackie is going to continue to carry this new title in that movie. I’m hoping Bucky will be there as White Wolf but all that’s really known about it so far is the potential villain ( another Hulk character), so I’m super excited for that.

i really loved the commentary about a world that took care of people when the half the people were gone but not when they came back. The whole narrative of the underserved live's being improved by the blip. All of a sudden they got healthcare, housing, education. Then they were put on the street when people blipped back. It's very interesting considering i live in a country where every single person could easily have healthcare, education, and housing but our society choose not to make it happen. I so love the same and Bucky relationship. I also love that they show how bad ass the Dora Milaje are. Also that Sam and Bucky are laughing in the background most of the fight. Like i love that in a fight with gods and superheroes there are all these regular, no serum humans, like Natasha, Sam, the Dora Milaje, etc that are just part of the fight too.
