I love how the end credits of thor 2 was the reveal of Loki disguised as Odin looking menacing, and we’re left to think he’s going to rule like some evil tyrant. And then this movie just reveals him laying around all day in his pj’s being a relatively chill ruler watching plays about himself lol

So fun fact Odin’s conquest that Hela talks about is the search for the infinity stones. After realising the cost of the Soul Stone he couldn’t bring himself to sacrifice Hela. Then he tried to make it so others can’t find the stones or have a hard time to. Also Thanos was waiting for Odin to die before starting his conquest for the stones. As Odin was one of the only beings who could beat Thanos.

So... there's a theory going around that the reason Loki (or at least his Asgardian form) looks the way he does: Upon being held by Odin, Loki peered into his mind and instinctively turned himself into a reflection of what Odin cared for most. In this case, it was Hela. Also notice that Hela does the exact same knife-twirling thing with her swords as Loki does with his knives. And you know... a penchant for black and green costumes and tons of drama and showmanship. Never mind their identical superiority complexes.

This is my favorite MCU movie, maybe one of my top 3 favorite movies of all time. It's just so funny, all the main characters have fantastic arcs, Valkyrie and Hela were SUCH fun characters, *and* the director sneaks in a story about how Asgardians were fuckin' COLONIALISTS, and not the benevolent golden gods from the heavens. A lot of people say Infinity War and/or Endgame are better, and they may be better movies, but Ragnarok is my favorite. It gets funnier every time I watch it. Odin's mother is also a giant. _All_ of the Aesir/Vanir are descendant of giants. The world itself is literally a giant. The term god in Nordic myth is not like it would be in Judaic myth or Herculean myth so there's not really any "half gods" or demigods. Key word "not really" as there's not really any named ones like there are in Greek myth, however there's descendants of Odin (like the Volsungs) who are less powerful than him that basically work similarly to demigods in other pantheons. Alex with that turtleneck tho. Fucken shnazzy my guy I once listened to Immigrant Song and thought to myself “this NEEDS to be in a Thor movie someday” and lo and behold a year or so later this movie made it happen and I couldn’t be happier. It’s so good! I like how Alex completely missed that Matt Damon was Loki in the play 🤣 (and Sam Neil, Alan from the Jurassic Park movies, was Odín) The “drunk chick” is Tessa Thompson, after this movie, her and Chris did MIB International together Fun fact: Korg is voiced by the director himself, Taika Waititi. And the faces on the 3 headed guy are all his face “Point Break what does that mean?” In The Avengers after they fought Tony said to Thor “no hard feelings Point Break, you’ve got a mean swing.” He called him that cuz his hair looked like the characters in Point Break Fun fact #2: Chris improved that snake story. In the BTS he riffs about Thor liking different things and they ultimately chose the snake one. But also, fun fact 2.5: the director has stated that like 70-80% of this movie was improvised so given how well it turned out and beloved it it, that’s an impressive feat Homestretch baby! Infinity War is almost here!!

Yeah, Taika definitely injected so much more humor into the characters and it really worked out for the better. Did you know that he’s also Korg? I was so waiting for your reaction to seeing Hulk again, Chris and Marks bromantic chemistry is what carried this whole movie. Thor has always been a cool character but this movie, it’s like he’s a completely different character. He’s still got that intensity but he was loosened up a lot in this movie as compared to Thor 1 and Dark World. I really like how Thor evolves from this movie on. My favorite Marvel character/ Hero will always be Spider-Man, but back when Spider-Man was not part of the film MCU it was Captain America. It’s impossible to have a single favorite though so I have a long list ranked, but for the sake of comment length and the desire not to torture you with such I’ll keep it to my top three: 1) Spider-Man ( will probably never change no matter what, when you get to No Way Home, trust me you’ll understand why- but that’s not the only reason why, I’ve been a fan since I was a kid) 2. MoonKnight ( this is a character that you haven’t met yet, I don’t know if you’ve seen the trailers or heard about him in passing online. Disney + has released a lot of shows that are set after the end of the Avengers Saga. I won’t spoil anything about this character, of course, but I will say that it’s pretty much the ONLY Marvel show that you don’t have to be caught up on anything to watch and enjoy and understand what’s going on. He would be first but, again, Spider-Man is immovable in my rankings. I will be extremely excited if you decide to get into the shows after your caught up on movies and I can definitely say that you’d enjoy this one) 3. Hulk/ Bruce Banner- he will always be a deeply fascinating character to me and I’ve said this before but I, unlike many, really love where they take his character later. It’s not a direction most fans tend to like, but I do and I’m excited to know your thoughts on it in the future.

Physically speaking, Hulk is the strongest. There's really no limit to his anger so there's no limit to his strength. Most powerful? That would be Wanda. By far. The Scarlet Witch is by far the most powerful being in the multiverse. Outside of a few of the really weird entities, maybe.
@dunringill1747
@dunringill1747 Жыл бұрын
In the first 30 years or so, Marvel Lore had a power hierarchy in place that remained solid. Since then everything went to 💩 based on writer's whim & Disney's agenda. That was once true about Hulk physically being the strongest with no upper limit. Disney has already been retconning Hulk into a weaker position. Unless Disney has made another retcon - Technically speaking, Wanda is a conduit of Chthon (Elder God / Demon). The massive power Wanda wields is his.

@mattvsmetaverse
@mattvsmetaverse Жыл бұрын
@@dunringill1747 True. In the comics, Doctor Strange and Wanda are comparable in power. It seems to be determined by gender in the MCU now. Kevin Feige stated this as an objective too, after Kathleen Kennedy took over. If you're a woman, and were comparable in power to a male character, you're now "FAR more powerful" in the MCU. They've greatly worked to degrade both the Hulk, and Thor, taking two of the most powerful characters in the universe and making them a joke to prop up other characters. But, just think--if you need to subvert characters to build up other characters, that's basically just a confession that they're not making them very interesting. They were already great, just bring to life their comic form, don't retcon it to fit your ideological objectives. The objective just seems to be, "women are better, men suck" now, which is making a crap ton of ridiculous, boring, illogical content. Take the recent Thor: Love and Thunder, for example. Another peak example: Hawkeye. Who needs Hawkeye, when you got Kate Bishop? How about Black Widow, replacing the male villain/anti-hero Taskmaster with a woman? There are so many examples of retconning for the sake of identity politics in the MCU, that it's pretty much poisoned the well. Phase 3 was dope! Phase 4, in comparison, doesn't even seem like it's in the same universe. It's all this feminist agenda seeping into Marvel now, after Kathleen Kennedy seized control. Now, guys like Feige, if they really stood for content like Phase 3 in the first place, just want to keep their jobs and tow the line. Comics were always a male-dominated market; men primarily bought them. Why they want to burn off the core fan base that helped BUILD the MCU, I will never understand. But, ideologues never were too good with logic... There's no lack of representation in comic books, they only subvert the men because they hate them, not because they need to. If you want a strong female character, PICK one to represent on screen, don't REPLACE the men with them, or CHANGE our characters. A lot of these characters have decades of history and fans. It's such a backwards way of thinking. Even She-Hulk was cool in the comics, but now she's the stereotypical third-wave feminist dealing with first-world inconveniences.

@@nathansky I think yours is the embarrassing take, personally. I don't feel any whatsoever. Women have been represented in Marvel comics since its inception. It just shows that you know nothing about the source material. All feminists are doing (Kennedy is an avowed feminist) is co-opting something they hate, to turn it into something that they love, instead of just making their own things. If the female characters in the Marvel universe don't do it for you (of which there are HUNDREDS to choose from), then make another universe, don't change our established universe. This would be fought for in literally any other area of lore, but when it's Marvel, all of a sudden it's the "toxic males" from the "toxic fandom" that are the problem. Get outta here... What if I changed Edward from Twilight (or pick a franchise) into a black girl for the sake of representation? Don't they need representation too? "Yes! But at the cost of my favorite character, Edward?" According to your inconsistency and absence of logic, yes. "Do as I say, and not as I do!", eh? Let's take YOUR favorite lore, swap and retcon the characters, and see how you feel about it. If you said you'd react anyway but miffed, you'd be telling a bold-faced lie. Even people who were never familiar with the comics see a HUGE rift between Phase 3 and 4. You need to get out more. Maybe add some diversity of thought to your friend roster.

Very clever writing. Just the fact they considered the the consequences of Bruce being Hulk for two years or more without a break. Usually, he only exists for brief stints, so never really had the chance to experience the world and let his “raw nerve” personality calm down a bit. To develop. To learn language. That’s why he acts and sounds kind of like a toddler. Very cool concept. And when Bruce finally shows up, he’s more agitated and confused that we’ve ever seen him, which makes perfect sense given his bizarre circumstances.

(1991, with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, whom Thor was looking similar to in Avengers - therefore the nickname from Tony). PB is a great movie! Unpopular opinion: *Ragnarok is the second worst Thor film out there (after Love and Thunder).* They killed all Thor's friends without showing any human (you know what I mean) reaction from Thor. They dealt with genocide and made fun of it (first Thor film had genocide of Frost Giants and it was epic in my book). Taika's humour is childish (he himself is a big child) and doesn't care about Marvel comics or writers who made them real, since he thinks he can do better. This film introduced Thor as brand new character. We've never seen this side of him, because there WAS no side like this till Hemsworth started playing himself in these last films. Tessa looks constipated for the entire film (2 films now). I guess is not her fault her face doesn't work any other way. Also, to make Thor shine they had to abolish Loki's arch and made him quite pathetic (and that wig...). My favourite directors for Thor films were Kenneth Branagh and Joss Whedon. I'm open to discussion and the comment above represents my opinion. No bad blood to anyone enjoying this and have a nice day!!
