Drove the 2018 LC and LS 500 yesterday. We also had 10 competitors there at the track to compare. Lexus is a force to recon with for sure. Power, fit and finish and ease of use of the technology goes to LEXUS again.

Great review. I’m a 2009 ls460 L owner and with close to 80k miles it’s been trouble free. We also have a 2002 lx470 with 180k trouble free miles. Great vehicles as long as you do the required maintenance.

That front end is overwhelming the vehicles sheet metal design. Clean dashboard and huge infotainment, though no CarPlay.

My wife is really liking the Kuroko glass. Very nice. I'd half a mind to buy this for her with that option alone. This will be our third and last Lexus. A retirement car if you will.

By reading all these comments in this video I have came to the conclusion that majority of people do think this 2018 LS500 is a great looking car. I am also one of those people who really likes this car and the direction Lexus is headed. Those who don't like it are either too old and refuse to accept changes or too young and not open minded enough to realize that this is an awesome performing and looking flagship car. Me "Throws Money" at my phones screen. I want one!

Excellent job, Alex👍 I have an LS430, I was eagerly awaiting this newest version. However I usually wait a few years for the depreciation hit to lower the price.😊 But if I was buying new with a warranty, I think the new S-Class has a much more beautiful interior. But if buying outside the warranty period, the LS would be the better choice.

There is no way that this car will sell in the same way that the original Ls 400 sold back in 1990. You can thank people's obsession for crossovers for that among other things like design.

What Mercedes, what BMW had both brands and drove for over 2 years for each. Lexus is light years ahead in value and reliability and comfort. Great vehicles indeed. As for the Germans, you need to sell when warrantee is over.

Traded a current model Audi A8L for a LS500H. Glad I did, the quality is stunning and the Lexus LS is a truly phenomenal car. The safety features and the semi autonomous drive function is truly amazing as well, wish you would have mentioned them.

Hi Alex, enjoyed the review. I'm especially pleased that your newer reviews go more in-depth when talking about VEHICLE QUIETNESS. Specifically the engine and exhaust noise. Since I absolutely HATE any kind of engine or exhaust noise, could you confirm for me that this LS 500 (non-hybrid model) is indeed "virtually silent" as it appears from your test drive in this video?? In the video, you did "rev" the LS 500h and it appeared to make a horrendously loud sound, and you did make a specific note of that. I was shocked because I expected the hybrid's powertrain to be quieter than the regular model. So, for me the hybrid has been struck off the list. That is an absolute deal breaker!! Very oddly, it was an extremely pleasant surprise to see that the regular TT V6 hardly made any noise at all, but I don't know how far you "revved" it. I'm more interested to see if it is "nearly silent" up to about 4K-ish RPM. I was about to abandon Lexus for the Genesis G90 V8 ultimate for this very reason, but this TT V6 gives me hope!! (my 2000 LS 400 and my cousin's 2005 LS 430 have engines/exhausts that are DEAD quiet and DEAD smooth. By comparison the LS 460 is *not* that quiet or smooth).

Honestly, I was appalled when I was the front grill and appalled all over again when I saw the interior. OMG those knobs sticking out the side of the instrument cluster. And so many buttons, everywhere you look.

A decent and thorough review. I would just like to clarify that the GS doens not use the same hybrid system like the aforementioned NX, Prius, ect. It has a secondary planet gearset as well. This 500h drivetrain has a 4 speed auto instead of the secondary gearset

Nice review as always. Wanted to clarify a couple things: * In the title, shouldn't it say "500 h" instead of "400 h"? * You said the hybrid model is half a second slower to 60 MPH. Shouldn't it be 5.1 seconds to 60, not 6.1?

@Alex It was not clear to me why the ride score for the Hybrid and V6 were different. Also, while driving the Hybrid, there seemed to be excessive road noise in the form of very audible "clunks" coming from the suspension. I did not hear those same clunks during the V6 drive segment. Was this just unfortunate microphone placement, really poor roads or is the Hybrid really that much less isolated than the V6?

This will be our five Lexus ‘s which was order February 1 and has not come in yet .We’ve had Three RX , one GS 430 and the new LS500.I must say we’ve never had any trouble with them.

As usual, a great review well done. Beautiful car but that instrument/speed cluster is just way to small. Everyone else is doing a 12 inch. Looks strange being that little. It is not just about looking at the HUD instead, it is about just seeing the huge screen. They should go with a full LCD 12 inch unit. The audi and Merc are amazing having the all LCD screens. Even the Genesis G90 has a 12 inch

Except for the front, the sides, and the back end - it's a pretty good looking car!

Lexus did say there would be hand writing recognition for the touch pad, please make further inquiries. I remember when this car was unveiled the Lexus spokesman at DMS said that clearly. This new Ls 500 is just the best overall in its class right now. The heads up display is just incredible and it's high definition quality. The glass and pleats design available make this new Ls the best in its class with luxury details and quality. I can't wait till they drop a new turbo V8 down the line. This new Ls already beats the 0-60 time of the s500 or 560 which is 4.8 secs and that has a twin turbo V8 while the Lexus has a V6 twin turbo. This new Ls is a masterpiece with tech, luxury, comfort and performance. You didn't state that the 28 way adjustable seats is the most available in its class as well. Lexus really did go far and beyond this time. You also need to update the video, the touch pad control for the infotainment system does offer hand writing recognition. I have seen that demonstrated in other videos.

Nice review . Not the car for me, but nice review. Way too many buttons (button-o-rama) and that touch pad would be maddening when driving. I like cars that are fun to drive so not my cup of tea. The GS comes closer, but still the controls drive me crazy. Sure, it will have great reliability but you pay for it.

Nice vehicle. I would have to take a one month class just to figure out all the extra buttons and controls. And probably still have a problem lol

I think you might have an issue with the acceleration numbers in your overlay graphic. You have the normal LS at 4.6 seconds, and then you mention in the video that the hybrid is half a second slower, but the hybrid acceleration in the graphic overlay says 6.1 seconds. 6.1 - 4.6 = 1.5 seconds difference, not .5 second difference.
