Hey Alex, I happily stumbled across your videos some time ago. I taught English at a high school in Budapest, Hungary in the early 1990s and then briefly in Taiwan in 2006. Anyway, your enthusiasm shines through and as an American, I appreciate your entrepreneurial spirit! Keep up the good work in Vietnam!!!

I really appreciate Alex and his energy. The lady at the coffee shop was happy and up for some fun? People need to know that HCMC is crowded and the air is quite awful. You have to be up for the madness. If you like a bit of space, Hanoi is probably the better way to go!

I literally leave for China in 3 hours. I am looking forward to meeting locals and to start my year teaching. I am still considering Vietnam for another school year, which will probably happen after I gain a little more experience teaching. I am bringing my soccer cleats with me to China, and I hope I can find some locals to play with. Do you have any advice about joining a gym abroad? What can I expect when I join a gym abroad. I am not the kind of person that usually goes to the gym, but because I want to reach some healthier life goals, I think joining a gym will be a good decision. How did your knowledge of English improve as you started teaching it? I know I will be teaching young children this year, but I want to try to teach writing in the future. I think I need to polish my writing before taking on more advanced classes. I hope to upload more travel videos just like yours when I arrive in China.

Nice, good luck man! Gyms are pretty much the same everywhere in the world I've been. :) I feel like teaching English has made my own writing skills worse LOL. Half joking - I used to use a lot of big words, now I'm straight to the point. But teaching English and creative writing are quite different skills IMO.

Walking street districts 1 Saigon is great for meeting people,but try having a conversation on that st is a nightmare

Yeah, worst place to meet Vietnamese are clubs! Specially those ones in District 1! If you wanna meet Vietnamese people fast, just go to Districts where not that many foreigners are! Or, if you re not a big fan of Saigon, like I am, go to small cities, more countryside, south, Mekong or Vung Tau is also a good choice! The good thing being a little more far away from the Tourist Areas is, you will be THE Attraction and it`s damn easy to meet locals! But keep in mind, everywhere you go in Vietnam, dont be to much a "Touri" ;-)

The best place in HCMC-SG is this park.Overcrowded city.Good place to meet someone is B.O.A. bookstore.

Well, 99%, if not more, of people who live in HCM AREN'T foreigners. Apart for the backpackers area there are basically no foreigners here.

Maciej P you sure? Cause everytime i see HMC on various videos i always see some random foreigner couple in a restaraunt or even walking through some random street (and they dont look like backpackers). maybe they are picking foreigner districts but im thinking hanao would have far less foreigner concentration than HMC. But i was was wondering about other large cities.

***** Do you mean Western foreigners? Da Nang has more asian foreigners than western foreigners. I've been here for 1.5 months and hardly seen any other Westerners here, except at the popular expat bars. Just walking around town, I might see one or two other westerners a day. It's always possible to find empty spots on the beach. Most Westerners just pass through Da Nang on the way to Hue or Hoi An.
