@Soup master 64 I played some of the oldies, and still have a few THQ games. But of the 2K games, 19 is definitely my favorite. Especially where creation suite comes in, plus the story mode kind of going into a different direction. Also sliders to modify how hard a match can be. Older classics usually feel better to play, and some remain timeless. But games like 2k19 really do have some merit.

Not really. At this point, HCTP is too outdated. It doesn't have a fraction of the modes or roster 2k19 has. Its gameplay is so basic that nobody even plays basic single or tag matches as there's nothing interesting there. It needs gimmick matches to be any fun. In contrast, 2k19 has Universe, Showcase, MyCareer and Towers, far more extensive customization and features and gameplay that's more tactical than spamming moves and counters with no sense of psychology

I find 12, 13 and 14 very much like that. 🤔🙄 14 to a lesser extent but ya still games like Shut Your Mouth and HTCP are much more impactive!! 👍 I grew up playing the very first Smackdown games with my brothers, they were all epic at the time. Just Bring It was a bit underwhelming though I must say. 🙄

And then we also have svr games where mid to late 2000s still have htcp feel but also fun stuff to them. I recently tried a few of them and yea i missed out huge time but i had my fun and i wish we have exaggerated and entertaining wrestling games like htcp and wwf no mercy. Just dumb ridiculous over the top moves and game features. Those were the days where you can just take someone from undertaker’s motorcycle and drag them around before tossing them anywhere or even that infamous spot where you can jump out of a helicopter for a high diving move and that yea may not be realistic but that was very fun and crazy. Nowadays just bland boring realistic looking stuff from wwe. Aew fight forever turn out to be as close to that style of ridiculous but we need more.

That would be a good game but not a great game if you wanted to be a phenomenal once in a lifetime game you would fuse both together. Have the game engine and story mode of here comes the pain. The graphics of 2k19. The ability to create a story, the ability to create a finisher , the ability to create a pay-per-view, the ability to create a title, the ability to decorate a locker room , like in SmackDown versus raw games.

@@BobTheAnimeDude there’s 2 elements that are from attitude. The combo moves & the stunned meter. Even you health meter plays out similar to attitude. I will say this has easily been the most difficult wrestling I’ve jumped into since war zone / attitude. These new mechanics & reversal system have gotten the best of me. Especially that I play on legend lol.. but now I’m much better. Started learning how to kick more ass & learned the combo / grappling system better. Only have 2 days playing but I can already say this is easily one of the best wrestling games I’ve played

@Rick Ross How does HCTP offer any more freedom? There are only 2 modes, Exhibition and Season. Season mode is just match after match with repeating storylines. And Exhibition is very limited as well. There's a reason why people who go back to play games like Here Comes the Pain tend to play TLC or Backstage matches. Because the regular gameplay is much too shallow. Try playing a regular singles or tag match in HCTP and see how less there is to interact with. Now compare that to 2k19 for example, your partner can do stuff from the apron like pull opponents down, tag himself in, hot tag, do tag finishers and more. That's one of the improvements 2k brought, what's there is much better and more customizable I fail to see how HCTP has better freedom and gameplay when it has both fewer modes and what they do have is so basic.

Easy, HCTP has about a million little features that aren’t in 2K19. Special Referee, interesting move sets, grabbing ropes during a rope break, holding onto a rope break, etc. 2K19 has none of that. And it’s supposed to be focused on realism.

Button mashing is annoying u get hurt to a certain point u won't be able to kick out/get out of a pin or submission. There's always a chance to get out with the mini game

If you're getting injured from button mashing then you might have something wrong with your bones.

Button mashing is still Superior to their endless mini games because it should never ever be a possible consequence to be pin or to lose due to submission when you only have minimal to no damage done and someone puts you in a submission hold or someone covers you just because you lost a mini game

Submission minigames on 2k games is suck and annoying at the same time But the pinfall minigames on 2k games IMO is better than older wwe games Thanks god 2k19 have button mashing option for submission minigames..

@@FraserSouris I feel exactly the same. People usually prefer WWE HCTP for the nostalgia and of course the season mode, backstage stuff and because it is more arcade. But when it comes to the core gameplay WWE 2k19 is 100000000 times better. I have been playing WWE 2k19 even since it released and haven't got bored yet. WWE HCTP has already aged too much. So I don't think it's anywhere near WWE 2k19

Older games can be adjusted to play like 2K games but they are still better because the impact of hits with weapons', hits with finishers is better. HCTP had limb detection and felt like the game was created out of passion. 2K games felt like a chore and there solution is keep playing it and you will like it which is BS

The Story Mode also suffers from repeating events, no voice acting, and no story out of the ordinary. It's standard Wrestliing fare. In contrast, MyCareer gives you a story outside WWE, you have stuff with Bray Wyaat and his house, you have special cutscenes in a match that actually trigger based on your actions, and have outside people discuss your actions in podcasts. How is that not created with passion? None of that is in HCTP. How are the controls for kick-outs and reversals inconsistent? Press X in the timing circle and press R2 to reverse is always present. That is never changed regardless of context. Even outside of the ring, your reversals remain constant. Have you even played 2k19 or are you blindly hating it? Big Head Mode is cosmetic. No different than you choosing to give Wrestlers funny attires. I fail to see how that conflicts with the realistic gameplay. Older games can't be adjusted to play like 2k. You don't have tiers of stamina, you don't have limited counters that you can exploit, you don't have a submission system that isn't button mashing or one that has actual interplay between both parties. Impact of moves is still present in both cases. HCTP has limb detection but no consistent way to follow up on it. Like, there is no "press R1 + O to always target the arms". You just have to find moves that target arms manually. If you actually stop and look at 2k's games, they have everything HCTP wished it had. They have passion, they have depth and they have good content. You're way too blinded with nostalgia and hate to see that. As shown by your "complaints" that show you haven't even played the game

To be fair, I'm currently replaying Here Comes The Pain, and reversing moves is probably the easiest part. Its how often the CPU reverses your moves that makes it hard.
