I like this style of Alfa Romeo much more than the new ones. The Giulia and Stelvio look too German, especially the interior.

What do you mean it looks ugly? I cant still remember the design awards it got when it came out and the reviews it got for its looks. I can even remember the first time seeing one, what a beautifull car. Thx for the review

Couple of pointers. :) In 2002 156 god interior restailing, in 2003 got exterior facelift. The Gta only got interior. If for some reason people want 156 with v6 and dont have money (or some other reasons) for 3.2 GTA, they can buy standard 156 with 2.5 v6. It is the same engine, same sound but with 190hp not 250hp. Another thing for steering and seats. The best seats for 156 is in the TI (Turismo Internacionale) equipment. Theh have lumal support and extensions for legs. They can be heated too. Steering is adjustable in all directions. In every Alfa you can go up and down, front and back. This engine is in 147 (Gta only version), and GT in 3.2 and 3.0 variant. 166 too with 2.5 and 3.0 And if you want better handling, you need to buy Q2 LSD. And thank you for this review! If you can do review for Alfa Romeo 159. :)

True :) GT only have 3.2 and was the last model with Busso... 3.2 and 3.0 is found in GTV

@@Pecore_Gamer Nah it isn't haha. Typical comment of someone who never drove one. And edit: it's not an Alfa Romeo engine, only the block comes from the Holden High Feature engine series - and that doesn't change anything. It could've come from Ferrari, it wouldn't have made any difference.

I had a Alfa 166 3.0v6 with 226hp. Almost the same engine...and what a treat. Thorky from 1500 rpm all up to 7000, no matter what gear...it was combined with a 6 speed manual...my brother still drives it today...it's a car you hardly can let go. For the 156 and 147 GTA people use a Q2 diff from a diesel Alfa and it works perfect...no understear, the 147 is a real hot hatch then. Love Alfa's....still driving a 156 last model...great car!

Well for a majority of people it is. In fact i'm pretty sure that if you were to do a study, only Alfisti would actually find it good looking.

well. i have to say something.. 1. have you ever driven alfa 156? you need to own it to see what is satisfaction, that extremly sensitive steering and power, combined with elegance and beautifull design.. 2. tell me one thing that is ugly on 156?! 3. tell me ONE car from 1997 with design that looks so modern today, and i will tell you 100 cars that are newer but not better than 156 .. ;)

RTK ShadowBlade Audis are good but the suspension has some handicaps, they're heavier and the steering is very slow in comparison to any 156 or more recently Giulia. I like Audis, TTs and R8s.

This car sounds good but now with the Evora Sport 410 and the F-Type 400 i don't know if it's the best... For a four door yeah i've yet to hear better.

I like this car. In the same kind, you have the MG ZT 260, a conventional station wagon with a big engine (V8 from Ford Mustang).

It's not only that what you said that doesnt make any sense.. its most of it. By the way of your talking its too easy to understand that you have actually not much of a clue about Alfa Romeo's V6 Busso and why it's such an amazing engine. It's not a youtube hype like you pretend, it's an masterpiece in automotive history for enthusiasts and not only people who talk about cars and do not have proper knowledge about them. A difference between a hype and something with value for the ones with proper knowledge about engines/cars and could fully explain why, is that a hype tends not to last long.. let me predict something for you: Max Verstappen will be a hype. A Alfa Busso V6 is something true which is why I dont like that people who just googled a bit before they make a video about an Alfa V6 Busso try to hype it even more on the internet. I rather having it lay low and let just the real enthusiasts enjoy it and all the cap and golden neckless drivers enjoy their Volkswagen Golfs. Besides, the 156 GTA was not the last Alfa with the Busso V6, ever heard about the GT? The way you try to play safe by saying: its ugly and that makes it beautiful is just a sign of wanting to please both sides.. bit fake. Sorry for this probably hard review.. its just what i think O yes.. an Alfa V6 engine is a high revving V6 with power high up in its rev range. I know its probably new to you but let me tell you this. Why are you suprised about an Alfa feeling good? Mechanically (engine / gearbox ) I dare to challenge any Audi or vw if there is a difference with a busso V6. So dont like the support of the stories about Alfa Romeo that come from papas from the 60's that Alfa rust.. and now with a lack of knowledge it is turned into Alfa's are unreliable.. which is nonsense.

There was never Selespeed with V6 in 156. If you have automatic with V6 it was Q-tronic. 4 gears, posibility to shift manually with H pattern and was so much better than Selespeed.

@ASCALON yup, I've learn that some time after I wrote that. It's funny that they decided to use gearbox that is just automated manual instead of true automatic

@ASCALON Didn't know that, nice. So there was Q-tronic and Selespeed in GTA beside manual. I asume that Selespeed in GTA would be similar to what you get from regular 156 with 2.0 TS engine. With long gear changes and bad electronic?

@ASCALON I mean that electronic driver in Selespeed gearbox is known to have some malfunction and to be hard to repair, after all this is not new. At least Selespeeds for 2.0 TS engine. I'm wondering is this the same chip. Some time ago I wanted to buy 156 2.0 TS with Selespeed, but the gear change was so slugish and rough that I passed that one. Later on I read about all the electronic failures and I was glad that I didn't buy one. I am interested in GTA, but I'm sure I can't afford one. I've had 4 AR, now my fifth is 156 2.5 24v and I know how much it takes to keep it in good condition, GTA will be even more :)

Jullie doen veel in het Engels zeg! Ik hou van Alfa maar toevallig vandaag hebben mijn ouders ipv een Mito een Audi A1 1.4 tfsi gekocht omdat de Mito veel kleine storingen (bijvoorbeeld het raam dat schuift onder het afsluitrubber door het systeem en niet het raanmechanisme) maar ervoor hadden we een Alfa 147 1.6 T spark en dat stuurde goed met bredere banden erop! Goede review maar misschien meer interactie ofzo want als jullie in het nederlands iets doen is het gewoon meer natuurlijk en vloeiender en meer spreekwoorden, grapjes en figuurlijk taalgebruik, enzovoort. Maar de motor klinkt natuurlijk heel goed!

Nope, that's just Alfa build quality from that day. Mine is the same (2004 model 2.5 V6) and all others I've been in the passenger airbag cover looks busted : )

I have a dreamy 156 sedan 1.8 Twin Spark but my obsession is to own one as a 2.5 v6. But unfortunately they are getting so rare and prices climb insanely in recent years :(

I drive 156 2.5 V6 Sportwagon and it's a dream to drive. I'm buying a 159 1750tbi TI soon but I have no intention of selling the 156. I'd never be able to live with myself if i sold it.

@@tumimokoena4404 Really cool. An update on my end: I still have the twin spark and bought a big brother with a v6 in 2020. Both need a lot of maintenance and especially the v6 will need a new MOT next april, a new belt and some other things. Can be quite expensive if you don't have the space to work on it yourself. But they are such awesome cars. I'll try to hang onto both, even if people tell me i shouldn't :)

@bballslasher the belts replacement service can be quite expensive. I did mine in July 2022 and it cost me an arm and a leg but you know you won't have to worry about that for the next 3 to 4 years. Keep them both @bballslasher and take your time in getting them to where you want them mechanically.

No need to wipe out an entire country. Just buy 156 Crosswagon for Q4 system and find a good mechanic, who is not affraid of some under body works to get that Q4 system working with GTA body and engine.

A little bit ugly but thats why i like it. He is true to this opinion because he just bought the bmw M3 with a pigsnose. Thats a lott more ugly but yeah thats why he likes it.

It´s beautiful because its ugly! Spot on, wich I think is the case for several of the olda alfas: kind of strange proportions that somehow make a beautiful whole!
