The first drive home for this 1939 Alfa Romeo 6C Bidee Spyder after an extensive restoration by the team at Auto Restorations Ltd
Bidee were a coachbuilding company located in Brussels, Belgium. They are best known in the automotive world for their lightweight Spyder/Roadster designs from the 1940s. Most Bidee bodies were fitted to Alfa Romeo underpinnings, although other carmakers were used as a base. One body was fitted to SS Jaguar running gear, and they even made some prototype designs for the Alvis TB14.
This car has the second body of this style by Bidee, made in 1946/47, and is on 1939 6C 2500SS chassis and running gear. Many premium cars of this era were rebodied throughout their life. Rebodied cars, in general, were high performance and expensive models. Body designs were changing rapidly at this time, and a replacement body would keep the owners originally pricey purchase, in fashion and current.
