R.I.P. The Walkmen :( never got a chance to see them live, and watching this makes me regret it even more.

i never tire of listening to the Rat ever since 2004, It was the first I heard of them..... The official video is the best, just really into their instruments, no showmanship!

Blue as Your Blood is so well done. All of it is a testament to this band's ability to play live with more passion in Matt Barrick's pinky finger than most other bands put together.

Great post for a fantastic band. I was lucky enough to have seen them four times in concert before their hiatus. Each time at the end of their shows I always had the feeling of wanting to relive the experience as soon as possible. The last time I saw them was the Saturday following Thanksgiving (US) 2013 and was aware of their impending break from playing as a full band. I have enjoyed the solo releases from 3/5ths of the band's members but hope for the day of their return to playing, if not making, music together. In the meantime, I will enjoy viewing videos such as this one. A fantastic performance, for sure.

saw them three times in small rooms in Seattle and were great

Still play this set at my desk regularly, just f'n amazing. For me the crescendo leading up to then the payoff of "Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me is Gone" still give me chills. Got to see them once At SXSW and definitely regretted not seeing them more. I've enjoyed HL's solo career as well but not the same.

I also wanted to add that I really enjoy their rendition of 138th Street that they played in this concert. I like the waltz"ier" feel they employ here. As corny as it sounds, it would be ideal for dancing under a moon lit sky...on the beach, perhaps.

Still watch this a few times per year. This is so unbelievably good. Their best live recording on youtube. I was supposed to see the Walkmen that year, but couldn't go. Still absolutely gutted by their break-up, now I might never have the chance to see them live. Seen Hamilton twice though, which was great, but it misses the fiery passion and energy of the Walkmen...

So I say this as someone who used to call The National as their favorite band, but why the hell weren't The Walkman as big as The National are ( or like at least half as popular)? It's fucking random and arbitrary in my opinion. The Walkman are every bit as good ( and if were talking latest outputs, better).
