We leave the Poqueira Refuge towards the Alto del Chorrillo to face some beginnings with softer profiles.
Then we connect with the GR-411a trail that will leave on the right the Lomas del Tanto and Mulhacén. To the left we enter the valley that runs along the Mulhacén River in which we can see several lagoons and new heights.
We face the final part of the ascent to the Mulhacén by its west face, with slopes of more than 30%. A demanding test that is rewarded by reaching the highest peak of the Iberian Peninsula, the second highest in Spain with 3,479 meters of altitude compared to the 3,715 of the peak of Teide (Tenerife).
We descend again by the west face and we place ourselves parallel to the course of the Mulhacén River to accompany it until we return to the Poqueira Refuge, where we have lunch.
To reach Capileira we will follow the route that traces the Acequia Alta and then turn towards the Baja. We will enjoy breathtaking views of the valley and the surrounding peaks of the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada, although it is true that this section is very exposed to the sun.
Finally, we descend by a forested track to Capileira and close our 7th peak of the 8 that make up the challenge of the roofs of each province of Andalusia.
We still have El Chullo, in Almeria.
