Lowest Common Denominator. It’s the number lowest number they both multiply into. (4 x 3 is 12, 6 x 2 is 12) This is why the numerators of the fractions get multiplied by 3 and 2.

How do you get 12 while 6 and 4 given as a denominator. I think you should multiply both to get 24 as a denominator. It's not even fourier, series. It's just ordinary math. You make it too difficult.

The lowest common multiple of 6 and 4 is 12. It's just ordinary maths. It's not too difficult. If you use 24 you will end up with a common factor of 2 that you need to cancel later on so your answer will not be fully simplified. You may wish to revisit my video on algebraic fractions (operations) if you are finding this too difficult.
