Jared, my take on this interview. It may be time to consider opening a reaction channel where you can expand your horizon and followers. Not only would it be entertaining to see your raw reaction on Pinoy music and day to day life, the novelty of it all, we also get to see your values. I mean, my gosh, you already have the language. How hard would it be to react? The more authentic it is, the better a reaction it would be.

fyi: OPM is not just wrote as tagalog only.OPM stands as original filipino music its either wroted on tagalog or english lyrics, it will still called OPM because filipino who are wrote and composed that song even if its in english.that was sometime has a misconception about OPM.

I am actually a very solid A'tin but I never disliked Ovela's comment about SB19. From the start he'd been very honest that pop culture and boy band is not his type of music. It is not only SB19 but everything pop specially k-pop is not his cup of tea,but the different is, and he always say this, SB19 is different from other boy group in the whole world because they genuinely can sing.
@elizabethdavid6806
@elizabethdavid6806 3 ай бұрын
Hi Kaps. I understand that he’s not into Pop but he should not say that SB19 is like KPop singing in Tagalog. So it shows how he is ignorant on Pop culture, that he’s implying that KPop is its own genre. If you’ve seen Cashual Chuck small documentary on the history of Pop, it started way way back in the 60s with the Americans & British and inspired other countries especially Asian countries that’s why we have JPop, CPop, KPop, TPop, PPop, etc.
@xytheraInTheStoVewyField
@xytheraInTheStoVewyField 3 ай бұрын
@@elizabethdavid6806 Indeed. That is why for those who'd never understand pop culture with depth will see the influence of k-pop into the pop genre because it just happened that kpop is a worlwide known pop sub genre. And it's not a bad thing, its a fact. Pop is an influenced of western culture to Asian music.

Hi Jared, in regards with the food called " Lumpia" the recipe for sure originally from the Philippines especially the crunchiness. In Chinese you won't see that kind of lumpia as same as Filipinos have, probably the guy who told you about it gave you the misconception although the Lumpia Shanghai word is from Chinese I guess, but the uniqueness of the lumpia recipes originally comes from the Philippines.

Let me just correct Ovela by saying that OPM is not Filipino music with Tagalog. We have OPM songs since way back that are written completely in English and other Philippine languages not just Tagalog. You see, Tagalog was adopted as the Philippines' official language because it was the most widely understood although not spoken. A Cebuano or say, someone from Mindanao can most likely comprehend Tagalog but will speak in Bisaya as their first language and English as their second. What is true for most Filipinos is having English as their second language. OPM is music composed and performed by Filipino artists. The term OPM has been coined like 50 years ago - to describe that very long period where original musical creations abounded from our local bands, composers, arrangers; so many top-notch balladeers, belters, chorales, etc. emerged and even bested so many others in show and competitions in Asia. Americans started getting impressed by Filipino artists doing small concerts abroad and if and when they choose to cover some western songs, how, Filipino artists take these to the next level sonically. P-pop is not K-pop interspersed with Pinoy cultural tidbits. P-pop is pop music created by Filipinos given all our musical influences from the West and especially from our folk music, Kundimans, haranas, etc. In P-pop, harmonies are a staple, modulations, improvisations, unusual chord progressions, etc. are often found.
