OMGoodness! I watched this video last night. I have used black eyeliner on both my top and bottom for ages. Also black mascara. I’m blonde. Today, I used brown liner like you did in the video and brown mascara. Smidge of foundation on my cheeks (rosacea), and bronzer. What a huge huge huge difference. I actually thought I looked younger and fresher! I can’t thank you enough.

@@ellie7701 Thank you. Champagne suits me (in every aspect) but I have a lot of pink in my eyelids and orange and pinks make me look like I have sore eyes or I’ve been crying, brown drains the light out of my brown eyes and I look sad and older (I’m 52 so I’d rather look younger), light greys, blues and especially greens are my colors, vanilla and champagne suit me fine. I agree with you, Hope. I gave up on mascara about 50 years ago as my skin was mega oily and seems like within minutes it was under my eyes. Now that I'm a zillion years old, I did try a tubing mascara, and no smudging. I rarely leave the house though so ? It came about 50 years too late for me but if I need it occasionally, I have it now.

You said it!! I wish there was more diversity in these tutorials....random people, who are perhaps older, with wrinkles, no botox or lip filler etc etc. I have recently found two ladies that are much older than me, but they show their faces before putting make up on. I do suspect that at least one of them has had a brow lift though, and maybe a bit of both in the forehead. Amazing that that seems to be the norm now on make up tutorials!

The quality of make up now is practically stage make up and or drag make up. It is as shocking to look at up close because it's meant to be seen on camera. Young girls straight out the gate are using stage and drag techniques including fillers, shots and surgery on barely developed features. Imho when this phase blows over in our culture we will be left with some very interesting faces to look at as they age. Interesting times.

Before I recommend this product that helped me regrow my lashes, please know that I’m not trying to sell anything or am in any way connected to the company. I’m merely sharing something that worked for me. The company is called Nulastin and they sell products to help grow eyelashes, brows and hair. Their products are only available online and are somewhat pricey so I wait until they go on sale. But, since using their products the results have totally exceeded my expectations. At first I used the serum at least once or every other day. Now I only need to apply it once a week or even longer (when I forget) and it maintains the growth.

Blush is ALWAYS a good idea. It’s the quickest and easiest way to add colour and youth and glow back into the skin. Blush should ALWAYS be included in everyone’s makeup routine each and every time they wear makeup ☺️

The Bobbi brown sticks are wonderful you can use a little or a lot and build on the color.. they're creamy and I use them...I'm 43 my sister does whose 46 and even mom whose 78 so give them a try put them directly on the lid and just blend with your fingers or a brush but easy and crease minimally even cream blush is good too the cream products seem to be more forgiving and add moisture which we need most of us as we age

Mascara and blush. These two items instantly improve your appearance. Use a blush that complements your coloring. Cooler color should use a plum or berry color, warmer can use a coral or rust tone. Mature skin does best with a cream blush. I like to place a small amount of blush under my eyes, at the very top of my cheek. This gives a very natural flush, like you’ve been exercising.

The “baby fat” explains a lot. I am 31, and around 29 I realized that I can no longer do makeup the same way as I used to. At first it was confusing to me, I felt as though I forgot how to do my makeup during pandemic lol I can no longer stand black liner, it just doesn’t look good on me. My eyebrow game became extremely natural, although I never did them harsh and dark before either. Absolutely cannot stand any metallic lipsticks (never did, but now especially). As a guy, who grew up with beautiful sisters and a beautiful mom, in my opinion makeup should be applied so it doesn't look like you are wearing makeup. It should accentuate your own beauty, and yes if needed cover some minor flaws. Although I did see a great video on a make up artist who helped people who had a lot of issues - like scarring and disfiguration, and with her help, the people looked so much better with make up to hide what had happened to their faces. So make up can work miracles, but I think mostly it's a case of less is more.

You can never go wrong with some suncreen as your base and a beautiful mineral powder by bareMinerals. It’s about $50 in Australia but I’m not quite sure how much is overseas in Sephora. It comes in original which is a nice dewy finish or it comes in a matte version. I feel that mature women look way better with a dewy finish but it’s up to you. I feel it’s very important to have that base layer underneath and it will last you all day all night so make sure that your sunscreen is not mattifying and at night otherwise use a dewy moisturizer. It works better than primer and the second that you put your base on whether that be sunscreen or moisturizer get ready to buff the foundation on and it will use the moisture in your face product to make it stick to all skin types for hours. Following this method will have the foundation last you like 6-12 months and have you glowing because you can never overdo it - it’s foolproof

As an older woman, I speak from experience - I think the overlining of the eyes, particularly the lower lid, is a subconscious way of trying to recoup the beauty of our young eyes and the attention it used to naturally elicit. It's like saying "hey! I am still here!" as everyone has a tendency to look right through you as you age. When you understand that you have to magnify your present beauty, rather than trying to recapture the beauty goalposts that used to exist, it is easier to incorporate a lighter hand.

I think you over exaggerated the lower lid eye liner to validate this video and you tried to make anyone using eyeliner to feel embarrassed.. There are lots of people still using eyeliner in their older age and most don’t apply it like you did to prove an idea of yours. It depends on the persons eyes, their depth, their colour and their personality. A thin eyeliner application can cover up redness on the lower lid when you are older and if done correctly, looks great.

This was probably the most helpful video I have ever seen. It was so so amazing. Thank you Andrea for making this. I am 53 and am going to try not to contour and do the cream bronze trick. So helpful to know that every single make up tip is not for every single person. I would love to k is your tips for eye shadow as many others have commented. ♥️😘

Great tips. I'm in my 50's and have black eyebrows and black eyelashes. THIN black eyelashes so I have not worn mascara since my high school days. I do use black eyeliner pencil on outer 1/3 of top lid (no wing) and on lower lid as well but never the water line. Then I smudge with cotton swab dipped in powder. It is very hard to find a cool brown pencil. I do love grey eyeliner also now that I've let my hair go natural silver.

What a refreshing, and seriously realistic approach! I love that you break down the IRL v. photo video differences. Hard to capture, but way to make the point. Thank you

I watched my bio-mother put on make-up as a kid and that was an education in itself. She was a master! It was an hours - long process but she looked like a model at the end. I don't use makeup regularly because I have SO many allergies, for one, and I'm blind without my glasses, to top things off, but I think you are so right about all the wrong things that women do who think they are too "something" (reverse snobs in my view) to follow some really good media makeup tutorials. I saw one recently where the lady was saying that she didn't understand what was wrong with the way SHE put on her makeup, and proceeded to make every single mistake you just pointed out. And she just happened to be of a certain age, kinda around my age actually (prolly between 45 to 60). And yeah, even at 16 when I worked at office jobs I knew not to do the racoon eyes like most of the girls were doing. Sad. She could've taken a few years off her face and done herself a favor. Keep putting out your message, more ladies need to hear it!!

The only thing I “bake” goes in the oven 😂! Some of these make-up trends are ridiculous! Some of the makeup tutorials show people putting on 15 layers of makeup which is absurd, unattractive, unhealthy, and expensive! Thank you for this video and for keeping things real Andrea ❤️🙏
