Defoe's tone is dry and flat in its delivery of a straight up economy of language in a beautiful flow. His use of words in so many archaic senses is an education in itself, illustrating massive shifts of psyche from his time to ours. The reader does complete justice to Defoe's tone and I feel lucky to hear it read with such total aplomb.

I was fortunate to find a beautiful previously owned Readers Digest edition of this book so I could read or listen as I was able at the time to this wonderful unabridged tale. This version is perfectly narrated so that even with my hearing impairment I can clearly understand very well the voice of Mark Smith. I thank you for offering this.

Friday's question that stunned Robinson, reminds me of Jordan Maxwell's question to the Bishop who officiated their Confirmation. if he had a Torch, and if an Angel appears to him, can he hurt the Angel with the Torch? The Bishop replied, that it can hurt an Angel for they are Spirit. The 9 yo Jordan said, Then why must I be afraid of Hell if my Spirit can not be Burn with Fire? The Bishop was Stunned by a 9yo's Words, that a Priest near by told him to Sit down and Shut up 😂😅😂

This actually sounds fairly natural for what I would have expected of anything written several century ago. A part of that is the style in which it was written, which I believe is not typical of writings of that day, and the writer wanted it to be a simpler style, appealing to a wider audience. I am in the audience! 🤪 Yes, if someone spoke this way during conversation in present day USA, they would be considered a pompous ass. But it's understandable.

Mark Smith is an American, from South Carolina and has the thinnest trace of a southern accent with mostly a smooth professional level of diction. I once listened to him on Librivox and would even search him for his reading and the tone and smooth masculinity of his voice. This Crusoe is my first acquaintance of the book and I’m loving the story very much.
