I lived in Cleveland, which was really rocking in the '60s, from 63-70, as was Detroit, Chicago, Buffalo and the whole midwest! I went to concerts in Flint, can't remember who we saw, but we traveled all over Michigan going to concerts. Amboy Dukes, Ted Nugent, Bob Seegar, Mitch Ryder, MC5, Michigan rocks! There were festivals and concerts all over the place.

I have loved Alice since 12 also, and I’m 62 now. So I got to enjoy him from the beginning. I had a huge crush on him as a girl of 12 back in the 70s, pictures all over my bedroom wall, but was too young to see my cutie in concert until the late 80s after his healing break. Still have my infatuation of his young pictures and zany young videos.

@@mma1st105 Yeah, some of the weirdest, most unusual music ever created. It’s when the band was a real band called Alice Cooper, not a solo act by the singer. I saw that Behind The Music doc on them and Alice had said that before Bob Ezrin, they hadn’t got the music part down and he helped them get it. I don’t agree. Those first two albums were just amazing musically. Nobody else sounded like them.

''Jimi would be the hardest guy to imitate...'' The naked truth.
@carloyelmar5973
@carloyelmar5973 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, i agree with anyone who says Hendrix is hard to imitate.. anyway, i also believe that imitating art is not so good a thing to do (for a good musician), 'cause it's like "stealing" something. Different it is when you integrate in your own playing style something you've picked up from listening for long time to musics and styles you've always loved in your life -that happens, it's just natural, and honest -but imitations are something that personally annoy me, and i can't help i totally don't care about self-indulgent empty technic "shows" 😸. That's why i keep saying..: yeah, but.. why imitate anyway?? CIAO! from Italy 🎸✌

@OfficialAliceCooper you are a really a pioneer from the 70's... Me like a big fan of Jimi from I was fourteen( I'm 45). I wanted to thank you Alice Cooper for recognizing the song "Dolly Dagger" by listening to Billy Cox (one of Jimi's bass players) playing it. It's not one of the most well known songs and it shows what a great musician you are, knowing the legacy and music of Jimi Hendrix. Thank you very much for being authentic. You also have very good taste in choosing guitarists (Nita Strauss, Orianthi, as well of course original member Glen Buxton, and others like Vai, Satriani or Vinnie Moore among others have worked with you) I have listened to your music and watched on VHS video your performances and live shows. You were a true pioneer for theatricalizing on stage the world of rock and a visionary that later other bands copied and you defended rock against the political right wing of your country. You are a rock great that many people forget now. Frank Zappa another great guitarist and producer was not wrong to give you the support to get where you are now. Thank you so much for your music and for honouring the memories of the greatest guitarist of all time Jimi Hendrix.

When I turned 13 in '72 I bought a Teisco Del Ray and started to learn "Who Knows" by J.H. It was a summer that saw migration from the Partridge Family to Band of Gypsies. Been playing guitar ever since but way down the road from those early days. Jimi is still one of the most epic voices on guitar but one of many that have come and gone. Never saw Jimi live but did see Alice on the Welcome to my Nightmare tour.

I saw Jimi play several time in SoCal in the '60s. He was one fantastic individual. We loved him so much and still do to this day. I'm hoping to meet up with him when I leave this world. I've heard him just jam on a song for an hour. His albums don't begin to show you the depth he could go to. Fuzz, reverb and a wah were the only effects that were available in those days for live performances. He put together a lot more in the studio.

♫ Funny as it sounds, genius work in music and even inventions for that matter, sometimes happen by accident as a result of experimenting and/or simple fooling around, as opposed to something being planned, and that's the magic of it all. Its almost like hitting that one note that makes your hair stand up. It doesn't happen too often but when it does, its magic. I've been a Jimi Hendrix and Alice Cooper fanatic for many years from the beginning. I only wish that many of the albums such as "Crash Landing", "Midnight Lightning", "War Heroes", etc, etc would be re-released on CD. Still, I am very appreciative of what has been released over the years and I just wanted to thank you for posting this discussion and for also helping to keep Jimi's legacy alive. TY again! ☮
