@@DxModel219 Honestly, I just re-discovered them about 2 years ago. I used to love their music on MTV and the radio, but was raising 2 sons and had gone back to school for nursing. I didn't know anything about the members, but now that I've had the time, I see that Alan was a huge part of their success. He is SO talented!

+Inga M. Yes, actually. Depeche Mode is the band's Name. Interview is a commonly used word in the German language. And April is...well April in both German AND English. 1997 is a number and VH1 the Channel's name. So you cannot claim that the title was intentionally fooling you into believing that this was going to be an English video. You just had bad luck.

Yep his workload more than doubled. God knows Fletch and Dave didnt hop behind to help Engineer and Produce or play the part Alan was doing.

Gore’s probably realising from that point the band’s best days are behind it and they’d all allowed their greatest studio asset (Alan) to slip away because of a mixture of their own laziness, selfishness, arrogance and egos. Despite what Wilder says, I think there’s a good chance he’d still be in the band today if the other three had ever taken the time to express gratitude to him for the crazy amounts of extra work he put in at the time. Such a shame really.

DM notoriously hate interviews... and I think Martin and Fletch hated them even more when interviewers wanted to focus on Dave's dramas instead of the music. And Dave was in pure confessional mode at this time, he wanted to talk about it.

Alan walked away when Dave was hooked on Heroin Fletch was having a breakdown and Martin was drinking if he had cared about them he would have stayed. That's why they're so close they went through the fire and came out the other side

@Isabella You havent heard it wrong but you have apparently missed that immediately afterwards he added 'each of us in this band has huge ego so it's one less now'. And I don't agree that if Alan cared, he wouldn't have left. I understand him. He put so much work into SOFAD while the rest of the guys were a total mess and didnt care much.

I think Alan left just because of the problems the band was struggling with...for example Dave`s heroin addiction.

Hated it at the beginning because of the dressup Fletch said they do suffer from the pressure: perfect sounds, perfect songs, perfect shows, perfect interviews...it's inhuman Dave opened up about his drug abuse and massive problems. Wanted "the fix" asap, feeling happy as soon as the rush kicked in...explained it all
