I would love to met Alicks one day and tell him how his music changed my life. Five years ago I was at my lowest point: depression, alcoholism and suicidal thougts. I couldn´t talk to my family or my friends, I was completely alone but his album "Fell" was my companion through that patch. Right now I´m living a tough period again, and this album has done the same for me, again. I don´t know if you will ever read this but thank you, deeply.

Alex has some amazing skill with making music oddly emotional without drowning you and the music out with super overtly sad and depressing lyrics in a third minor key set. The relationship between the multitudes of emotions in depression, the cool relaxing beats and lyrics alluding to touching, difficult and downright painful feelings and topics is absolutely unparalleled by any other artists I'm aware of. So good at it that some of the best tracks have nearly or no lyrics. Obviously Alex isn't limited to depressive and sad feeling music, but I feel his styles of beats complaint that sort of mood the best

The desolate suburban iconography typically associated with his albums evokes an unavoidable sense of isolation and powerlessness as one is forced to sort through their long-forgotten childhood memories- the good, and the bad, but always in a way that the emphasizes individual loneliness. Of course, this is all a subjective interpretation

@@IAMERROR64 What do you listen to music like this for? focus work or is it just relaxation? personally the melancholic undertones with the slow, breezy, lethargic, almost dreamlike feel can’t help me do anything but reflect; even when i don’t want to. interesting to see the different interpretations amongst the thread

@@JohnDoe-dx7oq I just enjoy it for how well it is constructed, i have a deep appreciation for artists that can do something like this. I guess i listen to it because i think it sounds pretty. I listen to allot of different types of music tho, either way i think why i listen always is the same.

Agreed, just making a marathon of all his discography and haven't skipped a single one, as of now I've listened to Fell (Album), Help Me Out (Album), Everything Is So Beautiful (Album) and now this one, 1997. Next ones are all his Growing Up Vols!

After listening to this and all A L E X albums non-stop for about 3-4 years now I can safely say no other musical artist has aroused so much emotion in me. It really takes me back to my childhood place, growing up late 80s and early 90s, such an eerily beautiful mix of optimistic melancholy.

1997 just hit me different: after watching some zelda theory vids, I thought about how Link gets sent back in time after defeating Ganondorf in the future to warn the people about him in the past, so everyone forgets about what he had done for Hyrule; he sees his friends again that he once saw to be dead in the future, etc. And so that would mentally fuck with you sorta thing, just see MajorLinks animation on it. I picture this music playing in the background while the Hero of Time gets lost in his own thoughts, reflecting on all the shit he's been through while also reminiscing sadly about the ones who he knew to love over time were to be gone forever after being sent back in time; he would have to rebuild the relationships with these people from scratch (i.e. mainly Zelda), as the Zelda from the past is not the same as the one from the future.

I think the song titles are the real lyrics: part 1 (descript - too dark): childhood memories but something's wrong. abusive parent? part 2 (passed - cloudy days on the east coast): post-divorce, death of the good parent? dealing w/ trauma by entering unhealthy relationship w/ drug abuse part 3 (it's been 7 days - undone): broke up, dealing with consequences part 4 (table - broken hands and shower walls): reflecting on it today?

@marty3114 0 seconds ago This is such an amazing album. I'm on the Autism Spectrum (an Aspie) and this resonates with me so strongly. I've always struggled with my emotions and never felt I fitted in anywhere but this makes me feel I belong, it makes me feel connected and safe and soothes me as nothing as does. I cannot thank Alicks enough for this and all of his beautiful music. It has had a massive impact on me and I agree with many other comments relating to his music.

Can anyone tell me where i can find an official page, a web site, anything to retrieve more information about this artist with session clips, photoshoots and other stuff ? No need to head to bandcamp or stuff like that. I just want crops of his biography and having a clue of his personality, have a look in his eyes.... I just discoverde this talent recently, but I got the sensation that for pure choice he doesn't like spread his informations on the web... do am I wrong ?...or at least he just does another job by now, probably !
