Really liked what you mentioed about the props and camera angles. My parents took me to this when it came out. I was 6. It caused me to fear the dark to this day. In conversations with my parents as to WHY they took a 6 year old to it, their response was basically that off the heels of Star Wars they just thought it was a spooky space movie. Up to then, most horror movies were gore fests or campy. As a movie, Alien affects a deeper part of the human brain. Trapped, far from home, and hunted. It is not a horror movie, nor a space movie. It is the moment a group of technological human beings realized they are now way down the food chain and no real time process that.

Alien is my favorite movie franchise.. the emptiness of space, the desolation, the feeling of something invulnerable and phallic being alive in the cold space is just so intriguing and has some tints of nihilism and desperate impossibility. The alien itself has a phallic form, but is the least removed from a life symbol, representing more the cold sexuality of death and mere impulse. I just love Aliens and the philosophy behind it.

In space, no pixel can be shaded! Retro Crisis does Hollywood 😂 I can’t believe my ears! I loved this and I love all the alien films, my favourite franchise of films since Godfather. It’s crazy how old the film is like you say and still looked so realistic. I absolutely loved the newer ones aswell, I thought the last one that came was incredible with the way they told the story and characters. I want to do one of these with you, will you make a deal with the devil?

Proof that special effects must be special to be effective. As long as it serves the scene, it can be digital, practical, in camera, or post-processed... or removes pubes. 🤣 On that point, the entire point of stasis pods is that it maintains your body *in stasis*, so you basically do not age or grow, at least not to any meaningful extent. Hence no extra hair, etc.

This was great I would love to see both do more of these, I love it Alien, It definitely is a great Sci-Fi horror , I agree that the practical effects are the best , Much better than the terrible CGI we get more than 4 decades later, Apparently the story about the hair Coming out of the Shorts Was made up by Ridley Scott Back in the day But she was the one who wanted to Wear the tiny top And at first Rigley Scott said They will never let us do that 😂 I didn't just hear you say you would like to see a remake, You know it's owed by Disney now, They would turn Ripley into a strong Lesbian woman of colour, Which I have no problem with But that's how they would sell the movie As she would be there to bring down the patriarchy And set things right for Diversity, Representation and inclusion 😂 I'm just having a laugh but let's look at what Disney has done To Star Wars , I think it's like you said alien is almost a perfect movie So they shouldn't be able to touch it, If it ain't broken don't fix it 😂

21:15 I agree with this totally. It's the parallel to being human that makes the alien so very terrifying! And again, the monster you don't see is scarier than the monster you see! Great little discussion you two! Though i do like a little less agreement.. most of the time.. you both can work on that! 😂 I actually disagree with something you said, about how people want movies that look and feel real. Now, i want that, and you want that, but as far as the public goes, I totally disagree. People want what studios have been making, that's why they spend so much money to see the same old, same old. Disney, Pixar, Marvel, DC, and all the terrible regurgitated sequel nonsense.. most people LOVE IT! Maybe not us.. i hope?
