@@closinginonclosure this is exactly how they used to play it 20 odd years ago when they would do it acoustically. when Movies first came out this version was one of the b-sides.

@@martinlynch2965 Yes, I'm aware. You may have misunderstood my sentiment. Tons of bands pitch down acoustic versions and take certain liberties for an acoustic version. That's very normal because it's obviously a stripped down version with acoustic energy. I wasn't suggesting that they only did this because he can't sing it in a higher range. I was just saying that despite being pitched down, he's still struggling and definitely doesn't sound like he used to. I've heard the old recording of the acoustic version, and I've heard various performances on radio stations and stuff. He used to sound much better and have much better control. Also, is your first name Martin? My name is Martin. Don't see many other Martin's. Haha. Also, I just turned 39, so I lived through this bands come up and when this album came out and they had Smooth Criminal on TRL and all of that.

When are bands going to realize that NOBODY prefers revised versions of their hits. I understand it gets boring for the bands, but that's what fans want. They sound good though

His voice clearly is still fantastic, but this was a terrible arrangement. Not at all a fan of the lack of chord progression to supplement his octave choice. It left the sound to monochrome. It did make me want to go back and listen to the original, which always tugged my heartstrings.

Yes, you are correct, it is bland, and it has caused complex emotions to arise within me. For instance, I was about to preach a sermon about loving your neighbor, but now all I want to do is commit sins. Seriously though, why do you think he chose to sing the chorus like that? I can only guess that his pipes are insufficient due to aging, but he didn't seem to have any trouble singing the non chorus parts of the song. I'm unreasonably curious about this, sorry if I bummed you out

I really dont dig this new bassist. Ty had so much fucking energy. All his animated facial expressions and background vocals. He was the hype man of the band....they just have a different groove without him. Still sound great, but a little less awesome....NGL.

I don't understand all the people saying he sounds good. Sounds like a bad cover by someone who copped out on each chorus because they weren't confident they could hit the notes an octave higher. This was so disappointing.
