This is the new alien jump jet from
www.snelflight....
It is a 4 channel micro electric indoor VTOL
It has 3 micro gyros that keep it as steady as a rock in the air, ground effect isn't a problem so you can hover inches off the ground. It's auto stabilization is amazing push on it and it pushes back to stabilize itself, it's very cool. When you order it you can select to have either a mode 1 or mode 2 transmitter. Mode 1 has throttle on the right stick, mode 2 has throttle on the left stick.
It comes with the aircraft, replacment blades, a transmitter and a wall socket charger with an adapter for most major countries.
At the moment it is only available through snelflight.
They helped develop the aircraft and their customer support is amazing they are the best place to get one. They ship very quickly, usually in less then a week. But delivery times will vary depending on the postal service in your country.
It is controlled via IR, but an RF upgrade will be coming out later this year,
The IR signal is very powerful and it works well in the home, but if you want to fly it out doors or in large open areas you will want to upgrade it to RF.

This aircraft is a blast to fly and it looks really cool, I think it represents a new wave in electric consumer rc aircraft.

What a cool craft. Simplicity but yet it could fly with impressive control and accuracy. Such a craft would be great for police and military surveillance. Awesome job.

@OriMedian it uses thrust variations for all controls , no moving veins or tilting rotors needed. all 4 rotors spin in the same direction so the rotors are at slight angels to cancel out torque, that is the only vectoring.

They are mainly sold online; thing geek and snelflight sell them along with a few other sites. I havent seen them on any retail shelves in the US

Check the video description, there is a link to snelflight, they are the people who actually designed this thing and they are the best place to buy it from, they are in Europe so the price is listed at 68 pounds, that's just over a hundred bucks. I've talked to the owner of snelflight a number of times, he's a great guy and he gives good tech support.

@helmetless If you are talking about the little black coaxial helicopte at 00:32 on the left. it is a 4 channel e sky coaxial lama, it can be bought at x heli and hundreds of other online dealers, it is a wonderful helicopter. the one in the video is a version 2 but they now have a version 3 and 4 that are better. just search "4 channel e sky coaxial lama" and you should find it.

It actually uses vectored thrust instead of having counter rotating props like most quads, it really was a big deal and one of the smallest quads ever until recently.

It is a quad but all 4 rotors spin in the same direction, it uses vectored thrust to cancel torque.

This is the best vtol rc I've ever seen so far! there are lots of advantages here. Super lightweight, small and the flight is so stable. Mr. Paul Moller (creator of the m200x flying saucer) would clap his hands for this toy! How much does it cost. i'd like one!

@iTouchTechTutorials this was long before the AR parrot copter, but the x UFO and the dragan fly series of quad rotors are predecessors to this. the quad rotor format has been around for a long time. their wear a lot of things about this aircraft that are very original like vector thrusting the rotors to cancel out torque.

@1200com it costs about 68 ponds I bought this one from snelflight, they are the people who invented it, alien air is the manufacturer. snelflight is really good with tech support and customer service, I highly recommend them.

I bought it today at Maker Faire Tokyo 2012. It costs about US43$. It is quite difficult to control but works. Lots of fun and not bad.

@vanjamenadzer with the RF mod it can fight wind, but the standered IR version wont go outside. the new big brother version the QuadPod will go outside, and can fight some pretty strong wind.

If you put a camera on it, would be useful for exploring buildings by police, emergency crews, etc. If the flight time was a bit longer, would be interested.

The Urban X Hawk , a full sized flying car works the same way. It uses what looks like 2 turbine engines and the props are inside the frame. Urban Aeronautics, an Isralei company makes it.

@LatigidGolana check out the quad pod, the big brother to this, it can carry a cam and fly outside for around 20 min on a big battery, the jump jet is indoor only and can't lift much at all.

@hurricane598 you can buy the alien jump jet from snelflight they have a new larger version coming soon called the QuadPod up to 20 min flight times, camera carrying capabilities also snelflight has some of the best support in the industry.

thats pretty awesome. when you say easy to fly, how easy is it? whats the range on it? how high can it fly?

@bizzy420 It helps to have some 4 channel helicopter exp to fly it, but most people can learn to fly it pretty quickly, the range of the stock aircraft is not very far, it is IR controlled so it won't go outside or in bright over head florescent lighting. However snelflight sells an RC upgrade for a few dollars, that way you can fly it further away then you can see it, inside or out, but you will need your own transmitter for the rc upgrade since the included transmitter is IR.

@christiantorelli1 their are people making quad rotors like that, look up the video called aggressive maneuvers of a quad rotor, it flips and flies through tiny windows, and in other vids picks things up.

That is one awesomely engineered piece of work. Are you savvy enough to install small rc cameras on it so that you can fly it remotely without having to follow it around? Imagine if you could get some tiny hi-def cameras on it and then view the display remotely. Depending on the power of the rc signal, it could be a powerful tool for aerial filmmaking. Great work!

the wings seems like they would create drag lifting off and landing, i wouldn't be sure if this could be an efficient plane with the type of movement source you've given it.

@1212surface you can scale up the airplane in pc paint or something like that, and maybe thicker paper or cf foam for the body and it may work.

Thats crazy. I love flying those R/C helicopters. This one looks like it glides so easily. I have a Revell White Wolf Helicopter. Bought it a while back. It flys good and goes insanley high. When you are high it does pick up alot of difffernt waves and sometimes goes out of controll. Of course I fly it by the high way and is almost landed in the middle but I think the reason was because of the radio waves from the cars passin

How did you film this. I ride a bicycle and am looking for a good head mounted camera. Did you use one?

@vincecate it takes a lot of practice to learn to fly it like this, I've spent more hours on RC simulators then i care to admit, and I fly anything I can get my hands on so I have a good amount of practice. I took this to the hobby shop and let them fly it, they are all very experienced but they had trouble with it because they had never flown anything like it. it took me a few days to get used to the yaw speed, it yaws a lot slower then a traditional coaxial helicopter.

@wolfsledgend if you strip enough weight down yes, but you would need to cannibalize the camera and the jump jets case. however their is a new version coming out soon that can carry a large camera and fly for 20 min, i should be doing a review on it. it is called the QuadPod

all 4 props spin in the same direction, to cancel out the torque they angled the props, they call it vector thrust.

@ProxySpam this version isn't for sale but the quad pod is. it is the big brother to this, 2.4 Ghz and camera capable. I think walkera sells a rip off version of this called the UFO or something like that.

This will be the next weapon in modern warfare. Put a camera on it and you will be able to take out anyone. Unless they have a EMP. please make a big one and fly it yourself. you can use magnets to make the rotors spin. that way you dont need a lot of power. if you need info i can help. keep up the good work.
