The news that Alien: Romulus will avoid Ridley Scott’s Alien prequels proves that the franchise’s timeline has as many misses as it does hits. The Alien franchise’s story is uneven at best. While director Ridley Scott’s original Alien (1979) is a masterpiece of claustrophobic horror, David Fincher’s Alien 3 (1992) is an atypically weak effort from the talented filmmaker that feels excessively bleak, too thinly plotted, and, crucially, un-scary. Similarly, while James Cameron’s Aliens (1986) is an action-forward sequel that many reviewers found even better than Scott’s original movie, 1997’s Alien: Resurrection was a pointless sequel that failed to get the franchise back on track.
Now, the news that Disney’s upcoming Alien: Romulus will ignore Scott’s pair of divisive Alien prequels only underlines just how flawed the franchise’s timeline is. Alien: Romulus was already said to be a standalone adventure that had no direct connection to the franchise’s most recent outings, Prometheus (2012) and its 2017 sequel, Alien: Covenant. However, little else was known about director Fede Alvarez’s addition to the franchise canon. Now, the time period that Alien: Romulus is set in has been revealed, and it proves a harsh reality about the response to the prequel plot that Scott established in his two most recent franchise additions.

My idea for a third alien covenant/prometheus movie is as follows: The engineers are the main characters in the movie and comes to the planet that was in the Prometheus movie. There they find Weyland inside the crashed spaceship. They have a blue elixir which they empty all over him and bring him to life. But while doing this the Deacon from the Prometheus movie sneaks into their spaceship and hide it self in one of the ventilation chambers. In the next part they arrive at the planet from alien covenant and find the other robot(Walter) who is david's twin.The engineers use the blue elixir and repairs him. Once awaken the engineers and Weyland get to know all the horrible things that David has done, and weyland says "we have to stop David" . They set course for origae. When they arrive,they scans all the planet,and finds the planet is full of hostile organisms except on a high mountain where they discover that there are humans inside a cave. Inside the cave they meet a herd of children, who tell that when they had lived on the planet for over ten years, they began to be attacked by Xenomorphs and all the adults died or were turned into these creatures. There were also great giants developed by someone the children calls David. The engineers get ready to wipe out all the Xenomorphs that David has created, but the great giants manage to escape with one of the engineers' spaceships. The engineers and Weyland hunts the spaceship and manage to force the spaceship down on the planet lv426.Where it start sending a distress signal. The engineers return to Origae to find David, but discover that he has escaped. In the last part we see David arriving and meeting an unknown alien species on a tropical like planet. At the same time Nostromo leaves a nearby planet with the cargo of ore. But when he and the unknown aliens have left the spaceship,the deacon slips out of the ship and is seen running toward the nearest settlement. And that makes the cliffhanger that ends the third movie. The ending movie could have a duration about five hours ?

After Aliens (2nd movie in the franchise, also the best one in the franchise, also one of the best films ever created), each next Alien movie was worse than the previous. Alien Covenant was unwatchable, and I though that you cannot make a movie worse than Prometheus.

@@dennishouse6200 alien 3 was the last watchable movie in the franchise. It was obviously worse than the previous 2, but still watchable and maybe even enjoyable. The next alien 4 was a dumpster fire, it looked almost like a parody movie. No wonder nobody wanted to make alien 5. And then after all the silence came prometheus - and did I have high hopes for it! But they managed to make a movie worse than Alien 4 - while it was visually fine, it was just dumb as hell, it was painfully dumb, Alien 4 compared to Prometheus is a storytelling masterpiece! The last Alien Covenant - I had zero hopes for, and was absolutely right - they did the impossible - made the movie even dumber than Prometheus, half way through I just turned it off - it was unbearable.

This is a new Standalone Aliens movie by Director Fede Alvarez. Starring Cailee Spaeny and others. In March 2022, it was announced that Fede Álvarez would be writing and directing the film after pitching his own story, and was said to be "unconnected" to the previous films in the franchise.

The more Scott tries to embellish the Alien lore, the more you realise that his input on the original was mostly cinematic. His, and his collaborator's increasingly awful blend of pretentious ideology and fan service, is painful to witness. I wish he'd just leave it alone.

Ripley's image in this trailer makes no sense. She blew up the Nostromo, and escaped in the Narcissus escape ship. The Narcissus escape ship isn't found until 57 years later. Romulus is an interquel film, meaning it takes place after Alien (79), but before Aliens (84). So why or how is an older image of Ripley appearing in this Romulus trailer?
