Come with me as we take a deep dive into the wonderful world of the Xenomorph, and do something a little different by exploring the brand-new Alien Romulus trailer in fine detail. First we will watch both the teaser trailer and full trailer, then we will explore the two spliced together into a more coherent conversation piece. After watching the trailer several times I have a few questions and a few answers. Do we see the big chap, have they added new stages to the Xenomorph lifecycle, does the trailer show everything, all of these questions and many more will be answered to the best of my ability as I explore this interesting new entry into the Alien franchise.

I just watched your "about me" video in your subscriber channel update, before that, also watched your review of all the Hot Toys Alien figures that have been produced, which has been absolutely educational (thoughts on that a little later in this post). 1st & and foremost, thank you for delivering wholesome content very reminiscent in the format of the Twighlight Zone to me and segments in horror/sci-fi films where they go to someone knowledgeable detailing the titular monster's history (Fun fact, due to your large move, we're both East Coast Collectors now! I'm based in DC/MD). Thank you for the breakdown of the trailers. Helps me answer the question I had, thinking if this was possibly the space station from Resurrection (forgetting if that had been entirely decimated after all the events) that this new team was revisiting to possibly collect lost assets for Weyland-Yutani but kind of doesn't make any sense since in Resurrection, Wey-Yu had been bought out. Then again I was mostly drawing the connection based off the large hole they started staring down which looked the same from Resurrection that Doctor got snatched down when he stared down it. Also pretty refreshing to hear your take on the Alien films, normally I've never heard any person that's deep in this franchise's lore say, "There hasn't been a truly terrible Alien movie," to be hoenst, I mostly align with this. I know its also down to their design ppl mostly debate over that gets them up in arms but I always thought since they gestate in many different species, the design should be expected to change at a whim. I only get a bit perturbed when there's some large departure from the Yautja original design cause there's no gestation in different species there, plus it isn't broken so nothing to fix. So very surprised to here someone say, "Even AVPR offered something refreshing with different creature design," I also thought it still fulfilled the "horror" aspect despite its overly dark setting to where you can barely see but the frames you can make out there were segments that generated some surprise and dread. So quite refreshing to hear a different take. That segues to how I fell upon your channel: your video comparing all of the Hot Toys Aliens and surprise surprise actually doing a review! Like touching the figure & everything, talking about the flaws. Content of that caliber on here is very scarce, especially doing multiple Hot Toys Alien figures. I went in search of such video in the 1st place since I found my old used 2nd hand owned Hot Toys AVP Alien Warrior some days back and really appreciated the design (I have an Ancient Predator 2.0 too cause naturally you can't have 1 w/out the other to me-have a soft spot for AVP since it's and early 2000s movie & it was shown to me in 5th grade). This all to say I'm subbed. Definitely willing to see more content from you.

The "molting" scene I believe is the "Big Chap" after being recovered from space. It's some kind of emergency form taken to help it survive in deep space

I’m betting that large asteroid like object entering through the sheiks is Big Chap. In fact, they could actually justify WY sending a ship to find BC and that may also explain the “salvage crew” stumbling upon Ripley.

Facehuggers are now to be called FACE LOVERS after some of the scenes shown in the trailer's. I'm sure there will be a kink connected to this also, if not already a reddit sub lol. First time viewer to your channel, wonder if anyone else realizes that's the mask of Buttonface. Nice vid sir!

Oh yeah, I completely get that. For the most part, that's how I am too. Lots of interesting stuff in the trailer, but it also spoils quite a bit. However, it's also my understanding that to keep things under wrap, they removed some special effects and are only showing events from the first half of the film. Still, if you want to go in clean, stay far away from this one. I feel that there are a lot of scenes that if you think about them too long, you will start to unravel the plot.

Theres two aliens on the ship. The original Xeno big chap, and then a new form coming from the lab grown facehuggers. The two mate and form a Queen.

@@tylerskiss I mean at this point I think everything's just conjecture. Unless the person has seen a screening themselves everyone is just going off of the rumor mill. There were some pretty substantial leaks on a couple of the aliens forums several months ago, and the trailers and images recently released have confirmed a good deal of what was in those leaks. It's hard to say though, largely because a lot of it is also the telephone game. I did hear from a couple sources that the main creature would be molting into a queen, but also heard that it would be changing to something brand-new that we hadn't seen before. So it's pretty much just going to be armchair theorizing until we all actually see the film.

I don't think we can assume that the Xenomorph seen terrorizing the Humans in the Trailers is the Big Chap. The one scene certainly looks to be a Molting Stage Shot, this could be the Chest Burster later Molting to Adult. We have to remember two things. (1) The Trailer has shots/scenes that are cut up and not necessarily shown in Chronological Order. (2) I think there is quite a bit that Alvarez is not showing/giving away in the Trailers

It is a beautifully compiled trailer. Both giving you a sense of what happens in the film and being deliberately obscure. I am also praying the movie is both good and well received.

My guess is a smaller production has a more independent company cut the trailer and they can work closely with one another as opposed to big ticket productions that just send over some completed footage and a synopsis and let the trailer house do whatever. From what I’m hearing, they actually removed things from a few shots to keep the secret better.

According to newly released rumours,the story starts with a spaceship discovering the remains of the first xenomorph from the alien movie.They bring it to the nearest spacestation and extract it for eggs which creates the facehuggers.Then the whole spacestation gets infected and all the humans dies,and leaves a big xenomorph hive behind. When contact is lost with the other spacestations.A spaceship is sendt to investigate. Then a battle breaks out,and only one off the investigators manage to escape. Or did she? In the end we see that she also is infected and she sets the escapepod to self construct,but before that happens,the escape pod lands on a unknown planet with small humanlike beings,but with blue skin. And that makes a cliffhanger for a follow-up movie ?

I've certainly heard that one before and a few other so called Test Screen leaks. Certainly we are not being shown everything in the Trailers i would assume that not even Half of the revelations have been shown. Something to consider is Test Screenings can have certain scenes in a different order... and so for Pacing I think that the Meteor in the Cargo Hold and the Hazmat Guys carrying what we assume is the Big Chap, i suspect that these scenes will be a Flash Back being Narated by Andy (Synthetic) from what he discovers from the Stations Computers...OR from another Synthetic on board the Station. And so the Movie doesn't begin with them, but they will come in midway through.

Super excited for this movie! Also have you seen the new neca queen alien on bbts ??? 140 doesn’t seem bad at all for how big she looks. Was curious if you were going to review it one day.

Yeah, me too! And I actually have that one (it's a re-release of the one that came out several years ago) it is probably the single best poseable queen figure ever released. My only complaint about it would be that the tail is just a little bit short. Still, she displays perfectly next to the Neca power loader. $140 isn't bad for this one, especially because she was just going for $300 on eBay before the re-release.

Ok! I just received my neca queen re-release!!!!! She’s amazing! Her head is like a foot long! I still have her in the box, detail on her is stunning from what I can see through the box, also I wanted to clarify… I bought my mezco big chap because of your reviews, but I haven’t opened him because of your autopsy video lol he was on sale on bbts for 65 so it too bad. I’m very curious to know what your favorite articulated alien figure is? Thanks man!!!!

That's awesome. If you get the chance, pick up NECA's Ripley and the Power Loader, these make the perfect movie scene, diorama. As for my favorite articulated Alien, that would be Hot Toys Alien warrior from Aliens (mms 354) but for my favorite articulated Big Chap in specific? Probably the Mafex 084... though that one is REALLY fragile, not so much breakable as falls apart a lot when you are trying to pose him. As for one that is most robust, definitely the NECA 1/4th Big Chap. I love that one so much I have every release (original, second version, translucent, and kenner box.) They are all slightly different, my favorite being the second version with the white frosted dome (though the Kenner box version is great too).

Yeah, the Narcissus. It would be hilarious if it's actually just Ripley floating by all the action as she drifts past the core systems. However, from the rumors I'm hearing it's that the Narcissus is just a more common shuttle type than only being found on the Nostromo.

So if you think there's 2 different characters , (in the red lit water sequence) that would count 3 new xenomorphs on top of the big chap.. I know this , first time being by the channel and I really enjoy the presentation ... I know this might be far fetched , however , what if a face hugger attacked a xenomorph... ya never know

Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the channel. A super Xenomorph definitely would be interesting, folding in on its own genes. However I think this would be fairly impossible with the inner mouth being impervious to acid and able to punch through just about anything. Still it's a cool idea, it would be interesting to see the Xenomorph's exploring with mixing and matching their own DNA. The reason I say it's two different guys in that scene is that I noticed on repeat viewing that one of them was wearing a sweatband and the other was wearing a headset. It is difficult to tell the difference with the red light. However (POSSIBLE BOILERS) my understanding about that scene (if the rumors are true), is that both of them fight off the facehuggers as these ones are a little bit weaker than the ones we've seen earlier, either because of genetic engineering or atrophy from being in containment. These ones also have barbs on the ends of their fingers helping them hook into the head without using too much grip strength. The sequence supposedly goes that the ship's computer plugs into the android whose eyes roll back and you can see the WY symbol on them, implying he can be controlled by company resources, and he releases all of the containment units causing a flood of facehuggers to chase the group down the hall (the scenes were they are running have the special-effects removed, but in the final film the walls will be crawling with the pursuing facehuggers). When they finally get to the end of the hall and close the door, one hugger makes it through and hits the actress you see later dealing with a chestburster. Unless the rumors are wrong we only see two Xenomorph's in this one, but the Big Chap plays a bigger role than just a cameo (and the other one is changing into something surprising).

Well I guess time will tell... we do-not know the order of the Shots in the Trailer and so they can be misleading. The Trailer is likely not in Chronological Order. There are a few interesting things... I would assume that the Humans can't access certain parts of the Ship... and so they ask Andy (Synthetic) to connect to the Systems and well things begin to go BAD from here. At this point he is likely compromised. I think that people are paying too much attention to that Xenomorph and overlooking the Chest Burster (we can't rule out that the Xenomorph is that Chest Burster). I certainly think that we will be in for something different as well and the KEY to that is what Andy gets up to 🤔

When the facehugger falls? I thought that at first, but realized that all of the boxes are stacked on their side (you can tell by the digital readout). So one shot is just looking at the top box, and the other is looking straight up at the column of boxes. (Spoilers) it's my understanding that the sequence goes as such. The crew is scavenging for cryo- pods because the small ship they took is not equipped with anything for a long journey. When they are looking through the research lab the android is overtaken by the ship's computer, his eyes roll up and you can see a WT logo across each eyeball. If you look closely you can see him with his arms up behind the stacked containers as the facehugger drops out, the ship's computer uses the android to unlock the facehugger containment pods and a horde of them chase the group down the hall (the special effects were removed from the scene for the trailer).

Rain, the main protagonist? Hard to say, I kinda hope that she isn't connected to anyone from the rest of the series. It is cool when we see a group come back for repeat adventures, but the Alien franchise can also have completely unrelated stories. However, there may be some special relationship between the android and the station itself.

I've heard some saying its Amanda Ripleys Daughter because of the Watch.... but thats merely a Easter Egg. Amanda Ripley is like 30 at the time of Alien Romulus and so that link is extremely unlikely. So our main Character will likely have NO connection with Ripley or anyone else from the Franchise.

Anymore, I'm it's either Big Chap or nothing. Like, I don't accept anything that strays from the original design. I don't like the Alien Queen space ant concept anymore, preferring that the ALIEN as we know is a "designed" creature that was meant to be a bio-weapon that kills in birth, kills in life, is semi-intelligent and has a limited life-span. All, that said, I think I will be more offended if the aliens in this movie act like rabid cheetahs as they have been depicted since ALIENS. I would like to see a return to the slower, methodical, creepy way the original alien killed and acted.

I also must add that if they do stray from the Big Chap design - as it appears they do - that they better keep it looking properly bio-mechanoid and like it came from the hands of H.R. Giger than the burn-victim, fleshy look with subtle hints of bio-mechanoid as we get in every film since ALIEN 3.

@@CommanderM820 As someone who's very familiar with astrobiology, it sucks to be neck-deep in a sea of alien concepts that just can't suspend my disbelief. Reducing the premise from biomechanical into familiar territories such as insects, grey-aliens, etc just puts it in the same box as any other Sci-fi franchises out there. Think of it this way: what if marvel changed the iron-man suit into a standard spandex overall and give tony stark super strength + flight ability? They might still be able to make great stories out of it, but I'm pretty sure people will have less interest in seeing another superman type hero. The alien queen design still looks fuckin dope though. Maybe we can keep the creature idea but move it away from that whole ant colony hierarchy concept. biomechanical does not equal bugs. let the less realism-oriented franchises like starship troopers dabble in that territory.

@@tampakmurni astrobiology bruh their hasn’t been any aliens discover unless you count the one in Mexico and what’s wrong with the ant concept the aliens still maintains its bio mechanical features and still maintains its alien nature and the original alien was nothing but a stealthy killer aka a stealthy slasher so there is nothing out of the ordinary and alien started the whole colony thing like alien movies have become much more popular and that’s probably thanks to the alien aka the Xenomorph so yeah there I rest my case

I'm guessing because they colonize these planets with poor and lower middle class citizens from all around the world, until the atmospheric processors have made the planet stable for a more homogenous society to take over. Honestly I'm surprised that we aren't seeing more accents. The expanse explored this beautifully with the Belter dialect.
