You guys were actually able to catch a double-stroke in that first shot. Due to the incredible recoil, this revolver has been known to reset its own trigger, even with a constant rearward press. If consecutive rounds are loaded, in essence, a two round burst.

Only reason I knew to look for it is because it happened to me when this revolver was released. I thought something was wrong with the weapon. As it would turn out, it was a brand new phenomenon that happens to a 500. I shot the roof of my indoor range with a 440gr Corbon hard cast with that uninvited second round. If only I had a hi-speed camera footage back in the day to analyze, I could have figured it out sooner.

Always only load 1 round at a time until you know how you'll handle the recoil -- especially with big bore handguns. I've seen people damn near blow their own heads off with Desert Eagles and various big bore revolvers.

Hey, guys. Just wanted to say thanks for having good sound mixing along with the incredible camera. A lot of Creators have compressed Audio, likely to shrink the File size for uploading I guess? But those of us with good audio systems can REALLY tell the difference. Even at lower volumes, my subs are shaking the couch pretty good.

Amazing content guys. These days I’m just getting into some long range target stuff and that made me think of something. This may or may not be good enough for an episode but I’d be really interested to see high speed footage of barrel harmonics on a high powered bolt action (or other) rifle. Seeing how the barrel vibrates during shots in super high speed and how they affect accuracy would be really awesome and I don’t think anybody else has done that.

The amount of soot on the break at 4:16 after the shot is nuts - its such a stark contrast to the shiny chrome it was before. It honestly looks like a howitzer firing. Great video as always!

While I'm not sure you guys have a safe distance/location to do so ---- seeing various rounds bounce off of a shallow angled ballistic plate would be pretty cool. See what bullet deformation looks like when a round is glancing off armoured steel, etc.

Amazing video as always! I think a cool video idea would be shooting some bullets against certain glass items such as flat sheets of glass, cups, plates, and etc. It would be awesome! Especially with the newer camera it would be cool to see the propagation of glass and how it shatters at those higher framerates.

That was etremely impressive with the absolute destruction the round inflicted upon the alien head, and magnificiently hilarious watching the shooter get misted with the splatter... I kinda saw it coming with how close he was standing, but even knowing it was going to happen, watching it happen still gave me a giggle.

Dudes. You need to use a snub 500 S&W, from about 10ft back, so you can get the fire halo in super slow mo! That 8in barrel with break takes the halo away, those snubs make an awesome fire halo

Fascinating and disturbing at the same time. The fact that the head explodes not from the bullet per se but the kinetic energy it produces is just insane. As he said, the bullet is long gone out the other side before the head blows up.

Talk about a splitting headache.... you guys should invest in a Model 89 from Bighorn Armory to see what barrel length does to velocity and hydrostatic shock. Might be a good video to do a .357 Revolver vs levergun, 44 revolver vs levergun. Then the .500 S&W. I've got a Henry in 357 and a Rossi R92 in 44. Just a little bit in barrel length makes a big difference.

I'm really curious if the heaviest 500 magnum bullet would produce the same damage or completely vaporize the alien head. Love your videos. The camera is amazing, I'm a huge fan of the slow motion videos it really shows the step by step devastation the bullet makes when hitting different media.

Great video. I shoot a 10mm with a 220grain hard cast bullet made by buffalo bore and would love to see it hit something like this or other type of tests and in slow mo just a thought

Did you see that you pulled the trigger twice on that shot? That right there is the main reason you have to be careful letting someone shoot one of these. Even someone with extensive firearm experience can have a negligent discharge if there's more than one round loaded in these monsters.

It's interesting how much smoke comes out of the barrel before the bullet exits. There's arguments on standard and polygon rifling as to which seals better while allowing the bullet to slide through the barrel. The second interesting thing is how propellant continues to burn after the bullet hss travelled significant distance away from the barrel. Wonder if one could use this data to select a different burn rate propellant to optimize efficiency of the propellant.

unrelated but i like the unique aspect ratio of all the videos, regular 16:9 videos leave black bars on the left and right side of my phone but this one fits almost all the way!

I had decided on a 2:1 aspect ratio since day one! I like it as well. Fills most phone screens better, and is a bit more cinematic of a projection.
