"Stop bothering trying to justify..." Sounds like something someone should've told Shane Black before he ruined The Predator 2019.

Chris's idea of a movie in which the predators are running from the xenomorphs is not an alternate story for an AvP movie; it is in fact what happens in this film.

I like this movie to a certain extent. I don't have a problem with the whole "good predators" thing because that's honestly not what they are. Predator 2 displays they have a code of honour essentially, they respect when they are bested. The predator in this teaming up with the lady is not "buddy cop" it's simply he saw her best an enemy that was clearly superior to her and he respected that, so like Danny Glover in P2 he gives her a trophy weapon, which is also useful in this circumstance. And they stick together out of convenience, she's earned enough respect for him not to kill her, and she wants to survive so she sticks with the one guy who's not attempting to kill her right now. And you know, yeah she's not a soldier, but she is a survivalist. Literally, a professional survivalist. And we remember what happened to most of the soldiers in Aliens, right? They died. What was Ripley? She was a space trucker. And she survived a LOT. I dunno why the lady in this surviving is so unbelievable to you. :p AvP2 is fucking garbage though. The first one's a masterpiece in comparison. Ironic that 2 is the one that jettisons the plot and most of the human characters are throwaways like you wanted and it's all the worse for it... Oh boy, Gods of Egypt... I have never seen greenscreens so bad it actually carries over to some of the CG. A tragedy cause I love egyptian mythology and the premise is cool, just... everything else is a flaming trashpile.

I remember watching AvP as a kid so when I eventually got to watch some of the later alien movies I got confused about why there wasn't some alien dude with dreadlocks hunting down a xeno/xenos

I was a little disappointed in the design of the Predator, as fans said that they looked like scaly wrestlers.

what if they were on a distant planet in the far future and all the background of both species were already known by everybody...then all they would have to show us the action...does that work??

I'm still disappointed that this wasn't an adaptation of the Capcom beat 'em up starring cyborg Dutch Schaefer and Linn Kurosawa teaming up with a predator hunting party to repel an invasion of aliens.

The best type of vs series might be something like a Jason Bourne vs James Bond type of thing.

Dark Horse Comics did it right, so hopefully someday someone will actually bring that story to the big screen. I've had so many nightmares that were better than this story. It's also hard to to think of any of the ALIENS and Predators movies to be in the same reality\universe, thankfully we live in a world of Marvel "multiverse's".

@5:21: Honestly I didn’t mind the team up, besides, the comics, where a lot of the AVP inspirations came from before this film, basically had the Predators(Yautja) fight with/alternatively against the colonial marines against the Xenomorphs; however, what I didn’t like was their execution of the human/predator team up. That fact is, the Xenomorphs weren’t allowed to put forth enough of an existential threat, to make humans and predators so desperate, that they have no other choice but to work together to survive-- here you see that the predator could have basically solo this whole film, the human(Alexa), was basically a dead duck without the predator, and despite how deadly the Xenomorphs were and how many human ppl and predators they finished off, they were basically an enormous infestation problem. The plot stretched it self soooo much just to justify a team up (and a vs matchup) that could have been done in a simpler and more entertaining way, if the plot itself, was better written and directed.

03:28 to 04:48 the big fight scene in the skull room was inspired by WRESTLEMANIA 3 HULK HOGAN vs ANDRE the GIANT the DIRECTOR said that was his version of 2 BIG GUYS beating the stuffing out of each other the PREDATOR even HULKS UP at one point during the fight

I wanted to see this movie on theaters, but got grounded for a few weeks after I got into a fight with a student at school. I finally got the film on DVD, but it was the crappy Fullscreen version. 10 years later, in 2005, I got the widescreen version on Amazon.

As a yuge fan of the original Predator and of Aliens, this movie . . . won my Buttfloss-Of-The-Year Award; It is as if a strip of undeveloped film was used as buttfloss, and they simply developed what was on it, and this is the movie.

Good choice for a marathon in this vein: this director's Resident Evil movies. SO much schlock.

Do you know why AvP got made? There was going to be a new Alien movie. Bringing back a lot of the cast of Aliens, well the survivors, I think Cameraon was back as director... But because Freddy V Jason pulled in a decent profit the scrapped the new Alien movie and put together AvP. It went from the first draft to movie screens in less than 6 months.

5:20 You want a good example of how you can have something scary, have it be a tame ally or even funny for a time, then go back to being scary, look up Red vs. Blue Season 8.

This is an entertaining movie. Its not great and has lots of faults but not sure it deserves to be in the Cinecringe vaults. There are lots more terrible cringy awful movies you guys could cover.

AVP has so much lore it could have used from the comics and novels. Instead it went for none of it. That and they keep doing PG-13 crap. Anything with Aliens or Predators should be R.

Very disappointing

At 9:50, you talk about what "real scientists" do. I'm not sure what scientists you're talking about who ever do what you're saying they do. Real scientists, at least the ones in real life, see something they don't understand, make an assumption about what's causing what they're seeing, and only then do they work to prove or disprove what they're assuming. That's the way science has been done since time immemorial. Newton saw gravity working. He then had an idea about what could be causing it and proceeded to work to prove or disprove that idea. Einstein had the idea first, then worked out the math to narrow down and prove or disprove his idea. The sun was thought to be an average sized star and it was taught as such for a very, very long time. Those scientists who assumed that were proven absolutely wrong. It's actually a "Yellow Dwarf" star, in comparison to all of the stars they've seen in the visible universe. Pluto was thought to just be a big ball of ice, with nothing more to it. It was taught that way in school forever. Then, New Horizons came by and proved that they were wrong. It's more than that. It has geography. Flows of ice, mountains of ice, plains of ice, etc. It wasn't just a solid ball of ice swinging around the outer edges of the solar system. Regarding scientists in the medical field, have you ever read the information that comes with prescriptions? They always say that they think the medication works in a certain way on whatever area they're trying to help, but they even admit that they're not sure. Yet they tell you how it works anyways. So, clearly, "real scientists" look at something, make an assumption, and then work on that assumption until they're proven wrong.

This movie falls into the so bad its good category. I like it, as it's a guilty pleasure.

Now do the sequel: Scott Pilgrim vs Predator

Ugh, I'm glad I didn't end up watching it after all. It looks and sounds like a movie that would make me pull out all my hair. Can't wait for next week, since that shit looks absolute horrendous.

What confused me most about this movie was that Alien blood could melt a Predator double knife, but you can chop an Alien's head off with the Predator throwing blade and it comes through untouched by the blood. I would think they would make their knives out of the same, acid-resistant metal that the throwing blades are made of. But, you know, that's just human thinking.

There were a number of "Alien Meets Predator" themed video games back in the day that were better than this, particularly an arcade game I used to play all the time that basically had the premise of: a group of Space Marines team up with a group of Predators to kill a bunch of Xenomorphs on a space station. And I always wondered why they didn't just use that premise for this movie. Even if it had been done in a cheesy way with professional wrestlers, it still would've been better than what we got. At least it wouldn't have skimped on the action.
