@charlesr718 Nerd talk: It twice explicitly states a three week journey. As well: Ripley : How long AFTER we're declared overdue can we expect a rescue? Corporal Hicks: Seventeen days. They're most likely considered overdue around 72 hours after the first drop if no comms are established, taking into account transmission time across space. They probably send a transmission when they drop, then are supposed to check in within a specified time. If there is no follow-up transmission, a rescue op would be sent, most likely on a ship faster than the Sulaco, hence 17 days as opposed to 21. That or the rescue party would be sent from a closer location. Hyper-sleep would negate the need for food and supplies, and ensure no accidents or events could affect the crew during flight. Speculation only.

@@noneya3635 but reading the book about what happened to that colony...a lot of people died. Newts mom and brother received a acid bath. Desolved completely....but anyways a great number died fighting.

@@JasinTheZombie I have just found Newt's Tale at the last comic con I went to they brought the entire clutch of alien eggs back to the facility and one of them birthed a queen. There would have been more than enough people who were hauled away to the hive to make several hundred Xeno's.

Hadley's Hope: population 158. Assuming 30+ died from outright fighting, collaterall casualties, that leaves about roughly 125 aliens plus a Queen. Add a couple more for Apone and Dietrich if there was enough time for them to host chestbursters.
