What's funny is that the developers behind Alien Isolation are primarily known for their RTS games so it's a bit odd that they're not working on this game considering their work on the franchise and experience in strategy games.

I agree. I love these types of games. XCOM made me love the genre

I thought this would be the case. Is it as hard as XCOM2? I never beat it cuz it was too dang hard. I think I beat The Thing back in the day but I can't remember. That game was fun as hell too and I wish they would remake it.

It does have fatigue tho doesn’t it? I’ve seen my marine get the tires trait alongside trauma traits

@@chicagotalkshowhost I have been playing on easy, and it's harder than Xcom2, but for different reasons. The game mechanics are very different, and there is a wild card in the randomness of it all. ADD has made me rage quit so many times, because i just got rofl stomped. But continue game from the last save, and everything is fine. It's frustrating, but very good. It's probably my poor understanding of the game mechanics, TBH, but the game is good if you liked the "Aliens" movie. A lot of very good callbacks, and the game is just fun to play. Barring the occasional "You must pay for your lack of vision" moments. But reloading is always an option. Well worth the money, IMHO. I suspect that future play throughs will go much better, as my understanding of the game gets better. Had the same learning curve with Xcom and Xcom2. Initially i was peeved about how the game played, but once i figured out how to game the system, it started to get really fun!

@@jeromethiel4323 I appreciate this thoughtful response. I have since bought it, but don't play it too often---too dang stressful lol. It reminds me too much of XCOM2 and how difficult that was--a game I repeatedly throughout the years tried to beat and never could. Instead, I got this medieval hack and slash multiplayer game, Mordhau, yesterday and stayed up 'till 4am playing that as it was just released on console a few days ago. That's been a lot of fun---total gorefest too.

I like these games, and kinda wish more games be like this, combat is a bit more faster paced than things like xcom, but keeping the concept of it.

The Alien movies aren't exactly known for their realism 😅

​ @Anuma Welp, in the movies actors had basic military training, Al Matthews was sergeant in marines I believe. They fire real guns on set etc. I believe they have more realism than you think :P

If you just like Alien Colonial Marines part instead of horror, i recommend Space Station 13, the Colonial Marines server, its a F2P fan-made 2D game that can run even in a toaster, however for a 2D game the graphics are quite above average, anyway, the game is really inspired on Alien 2 and general Alien lore focusing on the USCM, most of the game iconic weapons are in the game, the server normally goes from 75 players to sometimes 200 players playing at the same time, is amazing (just don't let Disney know about it)

If you like Turn Based Strategy Games (thus XCom), I highly suggest Marvel Midnight Suns (Made by the same people)... It's one of the best TBS games I've ever played. Absolutely amazing.

@jakedude236 it's a turn based strategy game, made by the same people that made XCom (another turn based strategy game). That's why I suggested it to him. I've played many TBS games (it's my favorite genre). Midnight Suns is one of the best.

​@@donnycageMidnight Suns is good but it ain't no Xcom. It's a superhero card game. We want more Xcom type combat games like Gears Tactics, Aliens Dark Descent etc.

Tactics games are a bit different then rts's though there are a lot of similiarties. (Less focused on resources and more on moment to moment decision making) Hopd you have fun with this one! (And if you dig it xcom and midnight suns are both excellent)

you can move soldiers separately but you wont want them to far away from each other anyways, but i have a feeling that when they get under attack they move to the closest cover, and when you order marines to interact with objects the marine thats best equiped will do the objective.

@@Subzero2151 i got it from the website and the actual Dev video where they talk about it briefly, I agree though i would the option to move your troops separately too, you may be able to order marines to move to a certain position while out of combat though just not sure, i like that they implemented a pause feature though to set up your marines when combat does start

In some vids, it looks like one marine is selected at the bottom of the screen… and when they moving as a unit, all marines are selected at the bottom. Having formations would be good for when they move as a unit, and been able to crouch to fire more accurately. Would love a aliens game done in the same game play as XCOM. But this looks similar in parts… looking forward to it. Just can’t decide if to preorder it for pc or ps5.

Marines move as a squad other than interacting which sends a single marine, all the X COM elements are there just with an RTS alien spin. Looks fantastic as well.

Also ot doesn't reset the meter to zero it just resets it to whatever aggression level you are on

It's more action based than horror pretty much like the movies Aliens but I do think they could add some tactical systems to improve that.

Not me. I don’t like first person games

We did not even fight a matriarch alien queen in Aliens: Fireteam Elite as the Pathogen queen, is a surrogate of what a true alien queen it should ever be. That said, I won't keep my hopes up for the king, as it is already enough if we will be able to face a proper hive xeno queen herself there though.🤷🏻‍♂️

not really possible with that. Alien Isolation is a prequel to the FIRST Alien movie. A sequel game wouldnt make sense.

@@MLPDethDealr32 It ended on a cliffhanger and Isolation takes place after the first film because Ripley is already missing which is the whole reason her daughter is even in the game

@@MLPDethDealr32 I don't think a prequel dude, since it takes place 15 years after the events of ALIEN. I believe it's set in-between ALIEN, and ALIENS. So, a sequel would/should be fine. They even have comic books that were released after the game that show Amanda Ripley teaming up with a Marine/Marines to fight the Xenomorth horde.

I have the game. It doesn't work like that. You can advance days.

Because it's an indie studio from France, besides it's only single player - I don't think it will have a lot of replayability, either way it looks amazing to me.

A 60-70$ game doesn’t guarantee quality. The most recent example being Golem. What should worry us are the review embargos and lack of coverage. Usually when a big name game is dark until launch, it means the game has problems or it’s a quick cash grab.
