as always your hilarious and yes you are literally the first reviewer that even has the brains to understand hdmi 2.1 bandwidth has lower input latency and feels much better . DSc is an algorithm that compresses the hell out of all that data and people think that is for free? There is no penalty? Give me a break , feels night and day better native . Keep doing you man , channel is going # 1

Any source to confirm the higher latency and lower quality? I wanna see numbers or I ain't sweating it. With modern hardware lossless compression can be done at unnoticeable delays if the implementation is good.

the only review that takes a look to real problems like dldsr, dsc and flickering. Great video. Love that you're trying to track down these issues to help us better understand the newer edge technologies that are coming out for these monitors. Mine is about 5 years old and I had no idea about DLDSR, the diff between DCI and HDMI, etc. Hopefully they can figure out the eye strain issue on the monitor. You were mentioning the ASUS and how great the colors are - that highly saturated coloring looks off to me. I liked some of the color settings you showed on the Dell better actually. I probably won't touch any of this though unless it comes down to $400-600 or something in that range. I like seeing what you can get for more but don't think it would be worth it for just normal Call of Duty or random survival gaming.

SWING! My man! Asus colors are medicore considering its not an OLED but given the 360 hz and the feel of it AND the ULMB they are damn good. Nothing really is amazing just yet unless you can get the asus 360 for a good price, or get the 165 oled 34 inch for a good price.

The streets have been waiting for the review to drop zorz, best most in depth one yet. I got impatient and got this monitor upgrading from a 180hz lg ips and I’m blown away. One thing I heard in another review is the guy fixed his eye strain by turning brightness up over 85 percent in sdr. I keep it brightness at about 85 percent (something about pwm dimming on this panel) and I don’t notice any eye strain using this thing but it’s important to bring up. I was also wondering what settings you use in SDR for the best visibility in fps titles? Do you keep g sync on or off?
@ZorzGaming
@ZorzGaming 4 ай бұрын
I think you're one of the lucky ones! no brightness setting ( I tried 85 in sdr) did much of anything. I always keep G Sync off, especially for this testing. I really appreciate your words. If you're not having eyestrain. Don't use DLDSR and dont use DCI-P3 its fucking great...

Amazing review, very objective. I got this on order, they're very slow to deliver it in EU. Lets see if get eye strain as well. These next gen qd oled that have slightly different pixel layout, but im not sure why that would make your eyes more tired though. When you talk about DSC, did it feel as good(or bad) as your asus 360 hz? Because a lot of people seemed to think its fine on that one. Talking about latency and connected feel. But yeah amazing review, i wonder if that green tint is on your unit alone, will check mine as well.

Thank you! Deeply appreciate it! You'll know within 3 hours if its bothering your eyes. Try it with HDR off on the monitor too to see if it helps. This monitor has a slightly more green tint than other DCI-P3 monitors. I'm going to test DSC on the Asus turning it on and off to see how it feels. The difference isn't monstrous but something about it ... feels better.

I had the exact same eye strain problem with Asus PG279QM 240hz ips monitor. Dropping brightness or blue light helped a little. I never solved the problem so i returned the monitor and went back to samsung g7. Now that you mention it, the screen coating sounds it could be the issue, since i never have had issues with other ips or any other type monitors. My latest monitor LG GR45 oled tends strain eyes also, but it's different and not really that serious. I think it's the sub poxel layout that causes text fringing. Mainly for this reason my eyes are waiting for those new 32 inch 240/480hz dual mode oleds, since they have more traditional sub pixel layout closer to RGB.
@ZorzGaming
@ZorzGaming 4 ай бұрын
Interesting. It's not the QD OLED sub pixel layout though cause the 34 inch Wide oled is fine... its something else. I also think the coating might be doing it for people that are extra sensitive to it possibly...

DSR not being available on these monitors with Nvidia is quite annoying. What would work, if you could lower the refresh rate in the monitor osd, so it stops using DSC. Sadly, many monitors now don't offer a good non-DSC mode. My Samsung Oled G93SC has a "displayport 1.1"-mode, which brings the DSR factors back but drops the resolution to 1080p... It could be what you are saying, VRR flicker, but the flickering during that part of the video is more likely due to the refresh rate of the screen not matching the recording rate of the camera from when he started recording that segment of the video. So I tried all the previous generation oleds including the LG C3. The eye strain was present on the older models as well, I think it's worse on these generations because more people are noticing that weren't sensitive enough previously. The LG C3 had the least amount of eye strain and it also had the best coating. The LG panels didn't have as much eye strain as the QD-OLEDs so it makes me curious to see if they keep the coating the same on the new 4k models later this year. In conclusion I ended up keeping my AW2721D because it just wasn't worth it. Almost kept an Asus PG32UQX but even on a huge discount it was still too much for not enough improvement. However, the PG32UQX was the best HDR monitor by far. Whatever Asus has done with newer firmware, the blooming is extremely controlled and the HDR brightness is unlike anything else in the monitor market. The monitor hit nits that my 85" X95K miniLED does, except it's two feet away from you and hits you like a brick wall. lol. Oh, and no eye strain on the miniled monitors. So I'm waiting for more miniLED options to become available.

@@ZorzGaming I think you're onto something with how the coatings refract light and how that could lead to eye strain. 48" LG C1 = 4 AW2721D = 6 55" Samsung QLED = 8 85" X95K MiniLED = 8 The LG definitely causes me the most eye strain over time. I had quite a bit of it on the AW3423dwf even though it had more refractions. Could still be apart of the equation. No eye strain on my flicker free AW2721D/Samsung QLED or PWM miniled display. While I had the PG32UQX, I had no eye strain with that either even though it was also PWM. So I guess some of us have to lean into the miniLED department because OLED for whatever reason is causing eye issues. If / when you do another monitor, you should include your findings of refractions and see if there's a pattern. Thanks for the video.

The majority of games are created in the sRGB space so if you don’t want the gamut clamp use Gamer 1 with gain set to 98/99/100. This gives you the saturated colors without green tint.

I had this screen for a few days and sent it back. The text fringing was so bad I couldn't stand it (to the point where I could barely read the text in the monitor UI itself let alone windows), and it had a whole pile of dead pixels. Only plus side was 360hz and glossy OLED. I'll wait for a similar WOLED panel.

As someone thinking about buying this thing (friend dropped my old monitor and rn I'm stuck on a 24" 60hz) and as someone whose monthly income is lower than the price of this one (apprenticeship, it'll get better) I think maybe I'll stick with 1080 for a bit longer and watch as the situation develops.

If I understand correctly the problem is eyes strain because of glossy surfaces coating of the screen and and it magnifies the light from screen directly into your eyes - *the same shit happening when you accidentally watch on welding (please never watch on welding without eyes safety mask or glasses).* And as I understand you don’t have this issue with a 21:9 QD-OLED monitor where is added more layer that gives you additional to horizontal and vertical also diagonal refractors - *buy 3M company’s matte film for cover your display for $30* - may be it will be helpful.
